ohn was the 157th lifter (& walker) of the historic Dinnie Stones & was also featured in the recent documentary ‘STONES’ from Maximum Iron. We discuss training, eating, grip strength, sandbags, atlas stones & even get a tour round his awesome ‘shed of strength’.
This is a great conversation with a man who is forging world class strength using rugged & historic methods & has the bruises & trophies to prove it!

Yass big John 💪🏻🪨
Great podcast. So interesting hearing David's stories.
Dinosaur training rules!!!!! 💪💪💪💪💪
Absolutely brilliant conversation with Sue Collins. Informative, interesting, and she comes across as just so natural and relaxed. What an example for us all of someone for whom physical activity is the fundamental plank upon which she has built her life.
You’re great at explaining tough concepts!
You explain tough concepts so well!
You’re great at teaching even the toughest concepts!
Fantastic interview guys! This is really inspiring to me. Gutted as I lived in Morayshire for 9 years and never knew anything about all this awesome stone lifting history
One of the the great in the sport, and really just a super person. I want to be like him when I grow up😊
Great interview!
Love the Stoke comments, thanks again for the content, I will buy you a Staffordshire oatcake one day
Always a pleasure to listen to your thoughts Keith, I know you have so many other stories to share to show your positive can do mindset
I think MAF would be a much easier sell with better marketing. MAF makes your heart the largest and able to pump more blood, which allows you to exercise harder and longer. Simply tell people if you only want to be strong and get out of breath quickly do HIIT. I don't think anyone would say they prefer getting out of breath. I wish Maffetone would talk much more about how MAF enlarges the heart, stroke volume, and vascular network rather than focusing on diet and metabolism. If you want only to be strong and gas out fast do HIIT. If you want to be strong AND never get tired then do more MAF and Zone 2.
I listened to this in the podcast format while doing yard work. Great interview! Thanks for finding Keith Moule and bring his experience and wisdom to us.
As the aforementioned Stokie I thought I'd better let you guys know there's no hard feelings😊 Thanks again, might check out Chris and Mike
Excellent. Glad I found this. Two of my favourites
Ha, you just had to pick Stoke. As being from Stoke we're not offended by being described as a place no one wants to come from BUT we are offended by being called Northern, we're officially in the north midlands Thanks again, can listen to Dan John all day
@@tomclowes5874 haha ... I was going to say Sunderland for obvious reasons but Stoke just came out... glad you enjoyed it regardless ... and everything is Southern to me so my geography ia all off 🤣🤣
Dan led my RKC recert last year, I felt honored! He was a hoot! So laid back, and got me stop overthinking it all. Thank you sir!
Ill be listening to this soon!
Commenting for engagement. Excited to listen. Congrats on 200 episodes.
Great stuff 👌👌👌
Thanks for the mention at the end guys!! Always enjoying the podcast on TH-cam! #Puissance Guillaume
Would be good to get Brooks books in audio for those of us with eye diseases.
Thank you Britt. I’m a registered nurse, with RA, placed initially on methotrexate and chronic steroids, didn’t work, then I developed AVN bilaterally of the femoral joints, underwent this December 2023 bilateral Total hip replacement. Rheumatoid arthritis so debilitating. I used to work out almost every day and now I find myself and I could hardly walk my dog. Please continue to raise awareness as I will as much as I can I would love to sit and brainstorm with you someday.
Nice. Original strength. If you guys get a chance you should try to get Cody from the stone circle.
HEY GUYS, Your contain very nice but there have no S E O . If you do proper S E O TO your video. I hope your channel will be grow up rapidly.
Use it or lose it.
Another great video, I am going to spend some time reflecting on what 10 things.
Great interview, two amazing coaches!
There was a video he did “Power Rack Training” that was great. I lost my copy in a flood, wish someone would post it on yt. I have seen a clip or two but not the entire video.
Phil just described Easy Strength
Dan furiously taking notes is the cutest part of this podcast. I heard about Phil through Dan's podcast. It was great to see the two meet and chat.
All the bestto you guys have a good one
Thank you... and you ❤
Great listen, looking forward to meeting these guys in April.
great interview! thank you
Great to see Shaun on the podcast. I’ve done my SFG1 and SFB with him !!!
That was a great interview! In 2003 I began looking for a device that would remind me at 45-60 minute intervals to move significantly for a minute or two. That was when I was 55 and began to stiffen up despite exercising and leading an active life. My Apple Watch does a good job at this and I have now met my "Stand goal" for 1825 consecutive days. Phil's Wellforce app takes this to next level by enabling the user to move with purpose (the user's chosen purpose) when reminded by my watch. Phil's running description of the movements is as good as any I have seen and far better than most.
tx for your reply. yes. as an endurance athlete (cross country skier), in my 60s, i have found the easy strength approach and format very effective: strength without a lot of soreness which then prevents endurance training the following days. I believe Phil promotes the same general philosophy. My question: to phil: how do you feel about the easy strength approach for endurance athletes, esp those with a power component such as nordic skiing or cycling? dan: is easy strength the year round formula for the endurance athlete? should we change it up from time to time? tx u
Louise is the best
Great video! Thank you.
This was great!! 👍👍
Thanks for this 2 part episode. This has given me a lot of information. now I need to buy a few more books to read.
great session. 2 of my 3 most favorite training coaches (the third is clarence bass). please do a second session and perhaps take some listener questions before hand to ask dan and phil. they really epitomize similar and healthy philosophies in the strength and endurance worlds..i have been following their works for many years with positive results. i am a physician and have incorporated many of their approaches into recommendations for our patients. as a senior competitive nordic skier with kids who are junior competitors, i find the combined info of these 2 experts, invaluable and highly insightful. thank you
@wadesmith616 Thank you for the feedback... It's great to hear that you use these principles for yourself, your family and your patients :) Listeners questions is a great idea too... we'll compile a list and make it happen... do you have any questions you'd like to ask (he asked knowingly)... Monty Python reference there for you :)
@@healthoddity7756
love it. Ive been following phils HR now for 6 years . tested it and works well. As phil says its is a hard sell. Im a keen criterium cycle racer, at the end of last season I was asked by one of the top riders in "C" vets race how many KM I do a week , my reply was 12km including racing , this persons reply was I do 500km he could not believe I do so little yet Im alway in the top5-10.
@philboelen6320 Thank you for the feedback... and love that you have used these principles to great effect. Do you have any questions you'd like to ask either Dan or Phil as we may put together a listeners questions episode for them as we've had such great feedback about this first episode of two
@@healthoddity7756 no question just a statement. ive read the book , follow the training as set out, be patient and you will rep the rewards. I love the FAT burning coffee.
Love you guys. Binging all the episodes on spotty ATM.
Thank youn Darren... we love to hear that too What's your favourite episode so far?
@@healthoddity7756 oooh, pick a favourite? Dan John is a legend in my eyes. So all his. One offs? I like Brooks Kubik and Brett Jones. See a theme? Old is gold! I'm 43 in my pic, with my GRANDSON. AND 48 NOW. Keep up the great work. My fave fitness poddy, and I listen to about 25.
@@darrenleelayton6052 Thanks again, we really appreciate the feedback :) ... and if you like those then we have a treat coming up for you ... this afternoon we are recording an episode with BOTH Dan John and Phil Maffetone, they've never met before so this one will be a world first... it'll be out on Friday 6 October
Having googled DOMS i have learnt something new today. - Great show as always.
Thank you for inviting Brooks!!!!
Becca is great, she really seems like a lovely woman who shows massive perseverance in her life and sport. I follow her TH-cam and it is tumbleweed there, so please more content Becs
