Western Ohio Railway
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 เม.ย. 2016
The Western Ohio channel is my person channel featuring prototype and model videos. The Western Ohio Railway name is the freelanced name for the model railroad I am building.
In addition to videos, I have a large collection of railroad photography on my web site ( www.dlamb15.com/wo ). This includes my personal photo collection, plus a lot of material posted to facebook by railfans of the Cincinnati Eastern RR (CCET) operating on the western half of the Norfolk Southern Cincinnati District between Cincinnati and Portsmouth.
How Do! Make A Cab View / Caboose View Camera Car
This is the first video in what I plan to be a series of videos called “How Do”. These videos show how I completed small projects on my layout that I think others may be interested in. I do not consider myself and expert on anything, so the name How Do implies this is one way you can do it. These videos are heavily influenced by ease of effort and minimal cost, and I hope provide inspiration and encouragement for some of you.

I've gone to Indy for years, taken thousands of photos, but never summarized anything into a manageable recollection of the event. So, I decided to do a video of the 500 this year. In particular, do it with the intent of sharing with friends what the entire experience is about. Not just the race. But the time spent going, the experience prior to the race and the time and effort coming home. It ...

Two Hoppers For BZak

Material is offloaded to a front loader. Takes less than five minutes to fill the bucket. Bucket is dum...

Ask me! Id be happy to help you.
Your layout looks amazing. thanks for sharing.
Do you get a picture of your camera? I’d like to see what you use.
I am so happy you asked. I did a video a year or so ago on the camera car. But I only uploaded to Rumble. Thanks to your question, I am adding to my channel now. It is linked below. It is still uploaded at this moment. Probably give it a half hour to complete. And hope it answers your questions. th-cam.com/video/8jm1c9nVpr4/w-d-xo.html
Awesome stuff man. I’m part of division 7 and work for NS. Unfortunately because of my job I don’t make it to meetings very often. Would have loved to see this in person.
Appreciate the kind words. The NMRA Division 7 Channel ( www.youtube.com/@NMRADivision7 ) will have a video from the layout visit in the next week or so. The layout isn't complete yet. I'm hoping to make a lot of progress on scenery in 2025. After that I will host again. Keep an eye on the NMRA meeting schedule. And if you do make a meeting, I would love to meet you. Based on your screen name, I think you'd like my mancave shelf above the layout. The last fifteen feet are all racing memorabilia. I got to Indy every year and have been to a bunch of NASCAR races over the years. Look forward to meeting you.
Hocking Valley is a little over an hour from me and I love the fact that they have steam and is affordable! They're running wet steam with Stevenson links and is hand stoked. A truly asome operation. Thank you for sharing.
Great video! It was cool getting to meet you!
It was a great day for some railfanning! I was standing at the Laurel Run Crossing Beside of you. That's actually my drone zooming by at 6:32 😂 Great Video! Subscribed!
I saw the drone and was wondering if you if you were getting shots of the train. Would be extremely interested in seeing. Thanks for the kind words and for subscribing!
I just came across this video ... Subscribed!!! 👍
Nice RR your building…brings back memories from going to college in Cincy & living in the area…
If you are familiar with the Cincinnati area and the N&W Cincinnati District, I keep a bunch of photos on my website (www.dlamb15.com/wo) and there is a facebook group dedicated to following the short line that operates the line. fb group name is Cincinnati Eastern Railroad Fans (facebook.com/groups/CincinnatiEasternRailroad) Thanks for the kind words, very appreciated.
WOR... nice work !!! it is really neat to see a pike that "knows where its going" !!! keep the vids coming !!!
Great update, descriptions and historical/prototype details!
I was on the 3rd trip today!
Damn good video!! Very informative and great views!!! As a fan who has only seen Indy on TV, I think the best move made was stop showing wives or girlfriends at the most critical time on the last lap!!!!
I was right above you in the 1st row of the top section. Been in the same spot for 21 years
And there's the "The Beast" and no other wooden roller coaster in the world!!... Lol
From Grand Rapids Michigan.... There's the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and nothing else!! Lol
Where’s y’all sit?
T4, northwest vista
@@westernohiorailway my seats were J stand first section near the very top. I didn’t stay because of the weather my father was with me as was my brother
Great video! Your epic! Thank you for this perfect fan perspective!
I have attended every 500 since 1993. It always amazes me how one might hear a pin drop during the playing of taps. The service of our soldiers is as important as the race.
Thanks for sharing!!
IMS 👍 --- Autodromo dei miei sogni , l'autodromo Alex IndyMonza 🇮🇹🏎️🏁🏆🥳🎆👍 , però da non confondere con l'autodromo di Monza .
6:36 big positive to parking in the infield, we were under turn 4 stands with little to no info as to what's going on, and car was .75 mi away outside the track 😅
We used to go to the brickyard 400 every year. One year as a reward for renewing tickets every year, you got to drive around the track the next day. The kids from Speedway high school were out in force cleaning up the stands. The school got to keep the aluminum and use the money to fund things for the school. Dont know if that is still the case or not
Interesting track vlog. Well done. You did some hiking that morning.
Great Documentary. That was my Elmo beach ball that I bought from the Dollar Tree. I thought that the fans might enjoy it. LOL You were sitting a few rows up from where I was at. (NORTHWEST VISTA SEC 6) I’m glad that they got the race off and that you enjoyed the race. I hope to see you out at the track sometime till next year. Till next time my friend. CHEERS! 🏁🏎️💨👍😉
Including ELMO was for my coworkers. ELMO stands for Enough, Lets Move On, and we say that when we've beaten a horse to death in a meeting. So I loved Elmo.
I was to the left of you section 19 NW vista up section. Great seats up there
I'm there on section 3 just to your right.
I left my hose at 3:30 from Avon, Ind. was in my seat by race time. Didn’t get wet. Everyone was already there, light traffic. It was my 60th race. Experience counts.
Same ... we left around 2:30 from New Pal area, parked, walked in, no problem. Now admittedly, I was a bit nervous, it didn't feel right ... but watching the radar, no way was I taking my crowd out there. We were seated right as the track dryers were being put away. Perfect. 54yrs here, consecutive (except for covid).
That was so awesome! Thank you so much...this is the first race that I have missed (either live or on TV since Bobby Unser won in 1968!) and I truly appreciated your perspective! Thank you again, WOR!
Used to enter under track same entrance in my hot rod 'Vette with Hooker headers opened up (side pipes: we'd pull the mufflers out & sneek 'em into the motel room & hide 'em under the bed & hope the maid didn't kick 'em & find us out) '71-74. Yellow shirts used to get mad when we blew everybody's ear drums out but never caught by Indiana State Police.
Amazing! Watching at Santos, Brazil.
No one should ever sit anywhere but e stand under cover. Basically box 3 to 12. Vastly superior experience in every way. Including being able to see pits from pole position back.
Tell us that’s where your seats are without telling us that’s where your seats are. 🙄.
@@DustyTail I just don’t know why people would bake in the sun when you can sit under the tv camera for less than face if you buy on the street. Sat all over the track with my dad when I was a kid and there’s nothing close.
Terrific perspective and Commentary
Great rundown of the day
Good documentary, you need to go for the whole weekend! Carb day is the best day. And don’t forget Back Home Again in Indiana! best tradition of any sport!
Nice personalized perspective. It was great that you had easy access to your car for the rain delay.
Great content , been to 100th and family has many more
What's all that hollering during Taps ? Disgusting
One of those guys who stands outside of big events doing a fire and brimstone speech about repentance and the rapture. I've seen guys like them outside the Daytona 500 and outside the line to get into a John Mayer concert.
@HPayne62 has it exactly right. It pissed me off at the time. But when I edited the video, I realized he was making my point about the crowd during taps. The crowd got so quiet you could hear this one clown outside the stands fairly clearly. It's the only time you could hear him all day.
Yea… I mean, those guys have every right to be there doing their thing like anyone else and I’m sure they’ve purchased a license as well. But, it’s a bit ironic that the “heathens” he is trying to change are more aware of their surroundings and respectful than him. Kinda killing his own point. Clown indeed. Lead by example.
@@yonstenger I've never particularly cared for them but if I can give them the benefit of the doubt, there's a chance they never even heard the PA. I went to a NASCAR race at Talladega a couple years ago where I got in late because of some ticketing issues and I never heard pre race ceremonies. I didn't know the national anthem was being sung until I had a fighter jet pass over me. May have been the same case.
@HPayne62 That’s fair. It’s a very busy place.
Very cool. My 51st. Only correction, that was Ryan Hunter Reay, not Carpenter. Good job!
Ah Snap, you're right. I had Ed on the brain for some reason. That's gonna bug me, but I'm still too tired to fix it.
@@westernohiorailway I have done that. We had good seats. I was in NW Vista Deck, Section 19, a little above you. I like it up there because nobody can block your view. Looking forward to race number 52. Go Pato.
Correct. Carpenter was not the spinner. In fact, m the “101 lap” notation in the video had me laughing because as he said most race fans dread rain. But for the first time in my life my brother and I were chanting “rain, rain, rain” about 3/4 through as Ed was off sequence and inherited the lead! I don’t know how many races that guy has left and as lifelong Hoosiers we would’ve gladly taken a technicality that day!
How do you park in the track on race day lol
You can purchase a parking pass from IMS just like seat tickets. There are several different lots inside the track itself.
Sorry for your loss. Your Dad’s layout is very nice and proof that layouts don’t need to be large to be significant. A nice tribute to your Dad and thanks for sharing his hidden treasure. 🙏🚂
I am very sorry of your loss. I must say your Dad was creative.
I’m terribly sorry for the loss of your dad but it sounds like you have some very nice memories with him and on the railroad.
It's a shame such a well built layout is doomed for dismantling. I applaudvyour dad and wish hos layout could be relocated.
Howdy! The scenery and scenes on your layout are fantastic! Just found your channel so will have to poke around a little bit. I'm a fellow Buckeye but I'm up closer to Findlay. I am just starting down the model railroading rabbit hole, so always looking for videos and various techniques highlighting layouts, lighting, weathering, etc. No layout plans yet... but I've started accumulating locomotives, rolling stock, DCC equipment, etc. I'm going to have to look up your camera car video. I love the track view videos and would love to shoot some when I get set up. My condolences on the loss of your father. What a wonderful idea to shoot his layout. Well done and thanks for sharing 🤠
Thanks for the kind words. You're starting out the same way I did... collecting, researching, getting ideas. Don't be afraid to start small. I did a switching layout that proved to be a great learning experience. I actually have a website with information about that layout and my current layout... www.dlamb15.com/wo. Couple of other sites for you to look at. My full collection of videos is on rumble at rumble.com/c/c-773515. The camera car video is there. Also, the NMRA Division 7 in Cincinnati has started a TH-cam channel. We'll be highlighting some of the best layouts in Cincinnati over the coming months and hopefully years. We're just getting started. You can find that at www.youtube.com/@NMRADivision7. Hope I didn't throw too many links at your. Enjoy!
Great job honoring your Dad! Love the layout and your naming of the roads and towns, and what a cool layout your Dad made!
What a wonderful layout. Your dad created a legacy that will inspire many of us. Thank both of you very much.
So sorry for your loss - what a great layout and a fitting memorial for your Dad. Keep those happy memories close ❤
Love the cereal names!!!!!!!
Great looking layout. You have a rather unique pronunciation of the word helix lol I really like the idea of modeling the background of a scene ND photographing it... good alternative to using pictures of real life buildings and landscapes. Very hard to make a seamless transition from model to photo backdrop.
Thanks. I actually don't know the right way to pronounce "helix". If I knew another word to use, I'd avoid it all together. 🤣
