    Seeing Jacob collier live was a religious experience for me. I then understood why his music doesn’t translate well to recorded, commercial tracks. It’s got a very improvisational feel that just needs to be witnessed in person. I think his music transcends the category of “product” and enters its own category of sensory and community experience, kind of like creative music therapy actually

      On first glance sure. Dig deeper and read more about what he's doing in his music. He's more of a scientist and inventor than musician. See "just intonation", polithythmic music, etc if you are interested. The greats know what they're talking about

  • @ShootFirstNS
    @ShootFirstNS หลายเดือนก่อน

    I always get far less interested in a person like this when I check their roots. His mother is apparently an extremely sought after musician and educator meaning he was raised to do this, yes his own unique ability is clear but a guy called Shroud, a professional gamer and streamer had a dad who basically raised him to be a professional gamer, go figure he becomes one of the best in the world. I'm not trying to discredit either of their ability or accomplishments but a kid who's got no parental influence who still manages to become something is far more interesting than a kid who's raised to be the thing they end up becoming... I notice this because I had less than no influence, I had negative influence, the idea of even being able to afford a cheap keyboard was out of the question. Makes me wonder what I have that he doesn't. I would've loved to be a musician

    • @AlexanderKaragiozov
      @AlexanderKaragiozov หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly right. It's often the case with these kinds of people. From Mozart and Beethoven to modern day up and coming artists and Hollywood stars (not comparing them). When you have parental figure that molds your life from an early age, it's a completely different game altogether.

But I have sensory processing disorder and it’s physically painful to listen to any of his music precisely because it’s so complex. So, I try to be content with watching the effects of perhaps the only musical genius of my generation, instead of being able to experience it myself. It makes me so sad. I find it amusing to browse the comments. Never before I've seen people so divisive over an artist before. I understand why people are saying they can't enjoy Jacob's music. The guy found a wrong pitch in modern piano, plays 5 string guitar and play 5 beat percussion over 4 beat song. This guy is not normal. But it never meant his songs are not beatifull. Some guys like to go to the beach, some goes to the mountains, some go to hunt. There is no right or wrong if you like the songs or not. It just seems to me if you are the type of person who has a favourite genre, you will find it hard to like his music. There's a reason why his concerts are filled with musicians, he's pushing boundaries like none before.

I like his apparent kindness and openness, I don’t find him unpleasant or disgusting like other narcissists usually are. I like his love for multitrack recording and layering.
