Never understood gp shift, having to down shift two or three gears going up has to be time consuming and awkward as all hell

I use gp shift cause when I was learning it made it easier to shift

A pro rider wouldn't accelerate the rear wheel while it is on a stand. Engine heats up without wind cooling which makes it overheat quickly. Also all transmission components are designed to transmit torque while there is some resistance to it. If there is no ground touching the tyre there is no resistance. Chain gets awkward forces applied to it since it isn't really getting tensioned by the wheel vs engine pull, since now the wheel doesn't really hold it back. This can wear out chain and sprockets quickly. Similarly the gears in the transmission will hit each others teeth frequently since they also aren't getting so to say tensioned against each other. Which can again lead to wearing them out or to teeth snapping from mechanical stress. For a short demo at small throttle those points are not an issue. But full or near full throttle on such a strong bike is quite likely to cause issues.

You flipped the linkage, you did not add a quick sifter. Please do some research before posting again.

I learned the second way, in a modified bike (was a bajaj pulsar 160, turned into a 200 cc with those inverted gears) I crashed lmao, but was a lot easier tbh.

This person probably doesn’t even know why gp shift is a thing lol even as a track day rider it’s not a big deal. Yes I personally use gp shift now on my track bike since I can actually push the thing. But at the start, even back in intermediate class I used regular shifting on my original track bike. Hell I know a few guys in my advanced group that still use the normal shift pattern.
