    Oh yes, that was one other thing I wanted to comment- I see you do a lot of cold water pressure washing with grease/oil residue. If you’d like to make that process a lot easier, especially with Old baked on oil-dust cake, use a spray bottle full of diesel fuel, and pre-soak everything a little bit with diesel before you pressure wash it. It actually softens things up even better than degreaser, and will save you a ton of time and water!

    @24:55 - almost! 36 inch rims are used on the next size smaller Farmall. Being that it is not original to this tractor, I can’t tell you what it came off of for certain, but they use the flat hub 36 inch in every tractor one size class smaller than this one beginning with the Farmall c, all the way through the Farmall 404. The eight spoke 38 inch hub is likely the original to the 504. They probably replaced the 36 inch hub when the chloride rotted out the original rim and they were trying to find a replacement without breaking the bank. A lot of Farmalls do use that hub though, but the H is not one of them, Farmall H’s came out before that one and only had six spokes. The rear end on a 504 is based on the last revision of 460, and is also using the same hub but now we’re just getting into useless details. Great videos! Just watched your one on lubrication, as a recently acquired 504 owner myself, I am enjoying the content!

    • @DirtPavement
      @DirtPavement 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is very informative, thank you! I had a guy tell me he thinks that wheel came off a Farmall 300, or whatever the number series equivalent of the H was. Anyways though, I appreciate the extra input! I've been doing a lot of work on it off camera. I forgot to show it in the lubrication video, but there were some zerks on the wide front I missed, it being aftermarket and all.

    • @92greenz34
      @92greenz34 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DirtPavement 300 was transitional, early ones has 6 spoke and later got 8. It all comes down to the offset of the rim. The later hub has more flexibility, allowing for different offset options, whereas the six spoke is a simple single position rim, for bonus points, I will tell you that we had a 400 that had a power adjust rim, which is screwed in and out, but it gets better than that, there are actually two different axle sizes, 2 1/2 inch, and two and three-quarter inch. H had 2 1/2 inch, M had two and three-quarter inch. Eventually, around the time of the 350, they allowed the larger axle to be installed on the smaller tractor as an option for corn pickers and heavier loads. Dealers were able to install this retroactively on older tractors dating back to the H although I have no data on how often this was done. (I’m really speculating here, but I sort of suspect it is even a heavier hub). Anyways, with this said, this optional status continued all the way through the 460, where the early 460s still could come with the 2.5 inch axles, but later models all came with 2.75 inch axles. That leaves us with the 504, only using a 2.75 inch hub. This essentially means your hub options were: optional Upgrade hub From the 350 era, or later, an original late model 400 (the same rules with eight spoke and six spoke apply here), 450, And 560. as a fun fact, very similar logic applies to that 404 hub on the other side. All 404s came with the larger axle, the hd option came out in the era of the 200, allowing for 2.75 inch axle diameter. The original C axle was 2.25 inch so they did a full half inch upgrade on those. OK now for the big reveal: the date code on the casting will probably reveal when the part was made, International used letters to correspond with the year (I’ve heard this before, but found a little more detail out when I searched it up )A=1931, B=1932… U and W= 1951 (v was skipped for some reason), Z=1954,A=1955,B=1956, etc. now you can go around and figure out when your tractor was roughly built by looking at all of its different, casting numbers and piecing together the big picture. They should help you roughly narrow down if any parts are off of a vastly different era tractor, and in theory help you narrow down what time period both of your hubs came from. Thanks for reading my novel, I’m going for New York Times best seller!

    • @92greenz34
      @92greenz34 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh yeah, the hub could’ve also came off of the later tractors as well, Hydro 70 Hydro 86 544 574 584 656 666 674 684 686 784 2544 2656 and even post merger Case IH 595 685 695 although obviously by this point cast hubs were an option and not necessarily the default. I think that date code will be your friend.

    Did you ever get it on the road? I was curious being 54hp non- turbo how itll cruise down road on hills & maybe 65mph on Interstate- Thinking that once you get it wound up it would go down road decent enough to be daily driver? I know where one is for sale - Looks to be in Good shape- I think it was mainly towee behind rv- Thanks for video-

      I did, but not on the interstate. It was no speed queen, but on the gravel roads I drove it on it felt pretty good. I feel it would be great on saving money at the pump, but it was a pain to work on.... it's being parted out now.

      I actually have a 1987 chevy pickup I’m just dying to fix up but just don’t got the time or space right now. It’s been in my family since it rolled off the lot in 1986 brand spanking new. Was used as a farm truck for many years though so not in great condition.

    • @DirtPavement
      @DirtPavement หลายเดือนก่อน

      @surefirethreat568 Yeah, not a lot of farm trucks survive. I live in the rust belt so it certainly doesn't help. The history behind these cars though is usually what keeps them worth keeping, especially family history. I'm making a video on reviving it right now, so when it drops I'll go over the history of this Coronet more in depth.
