I post a lot of miscellaneous content on TH-cam, particularly videos of chiming clocks, which have always been one of my passions. Some videos have pictures of some of my favorite memories and how my passion for chiming clocks first began. I even occasionally post videos of some of the toys I remember playing with when I was growing up. Sometimes, when I feel inspired by something, I'll post occasional videos of my imitations of some of my favorite cartoon characters, which will all be in black, as they are all recorded in my home studio. And speaking of my home studio, I also have a passion for voice over work, which I've been practicing for many years. I occasionally post voice over demos in case anyone is interested in listening to them. I try to get my voice out there in as many ways as possible. And if there are so many political ads on TV, I'll post humorous political ad breaks. I hope you enjoy this channel, as this will be one to watch for years to come.
Chiming Clocks Originally Obtained Fixed or Set Up as Shown in 2018
Next up, as a special treat for Christmas Day, is a video montage of the clocks I've collected and got repaired in 2018, including when they rang in 2019, including one that was shown on video in full the following year. I hope you all enjoy this video. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a great holiday season.

To continue wrapping up 2024 and welcoming 2025, here's the second video of my miniseries. For those of you who are new to my channel, 2017 was a great year to add several clocks to my collection since some of them hadn't been set up before. This is a great way to celebrate Christmas Eve. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a great holiday season.

To bid adieu to 2024 and welcome 2025, I decided to make a series of videos showcasing the clocks I collected as originally shown whether they were just obtained, fixed, or set up. And for those of you who are relatively new to the channel, this video and the next several will be for you. I hope you enjoy.

This clock was originally owned by my great-great-grandparents back in the 1890s to early 1900s, back when this clock was first manufactured. The clock's original movement hadn't been running for a number of years, so it had to be replaced with a new one. Here's a montage video of the Howard Miller Worthington clock that I got five years ago. The chimes sound like they're really in tune. And I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Kieninger movement ticking away. It sort of reminds me of the sound of the pocket watch on 60 Minutes. It's had a few repairs since I got it, but since I recently got it back from Windsor Clock & Watch after getting a...

Hey Tristan, I have the same Linden triple chime bracket clock from 1974 and another Linden single chime from 1978. After all of these years, both clocks run and keep time very well even though both clocks exhibit a couple of worn pivot holes and have never been fully serviced. That really says something about the quality of these older Hermle movements. The construction on the Linden clock cases is very good and the clocks hold their value pretty well too. In my opinion, they're definitely keepers. Thank you for sharing another great video of your collection. Happy New Year.
That's great. I'm glad to know that both of your clocks are still working after all these years. Thank you for the Happy New Year wishes, and I want to wish you a Happy New Year as well.
@tristangardner3889 Thank you. They are both on the list for eventual overhaul. However, the Downing takes priority. Take care and be safe.
Very nice! Thanks. Merry Christmas to you too, Tristan. P.S. I love the timbre on the Jauch chimes. But, the strike chords could wake even the deepest of sleepers. 😂
Don't worry. The walls are insulated, so the sound wouldn't get through very easily. Plus, I haven't gotten any complaints yet. Knock on wood.
@tristangardner3889 As long as the neighbors have no complaints, then all is good.
I thought that wall clock might have been a Gustav Becker, anyway you have a very nice clock collection. Many thanks. Jim from Cootamundra NSW.
Thank you for the kind words. More videos will be coming, including one tomorrow.
Thank you for another video highlighting some of your collection. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thanks so much. I hope you have a merry Christmas too.

Thanks! I just purchased one of these from the Thrift store and it didn’t come with the instructions. Great video!😊
I'm glad this video was useful to you.
That’s a waste to replace the movement when overhauling the original movement would cost about the same amount of money to replace the movement
Generally, I agree that a complete overhaul of an antique movement is preferred instead of replacing the movement. However, there are several factors that need to be considered here. What condition was the original movement in? For example, how many repairs were attempted in the past, if any. If repairs were done, by which means were they accomplished? Were prick punches, soldered on plates, Rathburn bushings, or screw in bushings used to correct worn pivot holes in the movement's plates? All these "methods" were, at one time, considered acceptable practices by poorly trained clockmakers and local "tinkerers" to get the clock running again. Did the repair include a complete teardown, cleaning, pivot polishing, etc? Speaking of cleaning, did the repair shop use an ultrasonic cleaner back in 1971 or was the cleaning performed by hand? What was the horolgist's knowledge and skill level and where tools, parts, supplies, etc readily available? What warranty period for the repairs was offered, if any? How far away was the clock repair shop located from his grandparents home? What was the cost of a complete overhaul versus installing a new movement back in 1971? With all that said, at least his grandparents opted for a new mechanical movement instead of fitting in a quartz movement in the clock case. 🤮 🤮 🤮 😂
Cool
Tristan, I must admit I was very surprised to see that the original two train time and strike movement had been replaced with a modern rack and snail movement. However, I do understand why your grandparents made the decision to have the antique movement replaced back in 1971. Kudos to you for keeping your promise to your grandmother. The clock has a good home and she is certainly a keeper. Thank you for another superb video of your clock collection.
Glad you enjoyed it. I look forward to making more new clock videos and other miscellaneous material in the future.
@tristangardner3889 Great! I enjoy seeing other clock collectors collections. My collection is a modest 14 clocks. Oh, I do have some bad news about my vintage 613-192 Downing mantel clock. The click spring on spring barrel for the strike side failed during winding. My right index finger received a couple of lacerations when the click let loose and the key freewheeled. The dial also received some minor damage around the winding hole. I am more concerned about internal damage to wheel teeth and pivots. I don't have it running now due to those concerns. I figure I'll look into repairs after the holidays. With that said, Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Oh, that's too bad about your Downing mantel clock. I know you'll get that fixed soon enough, and I hope you a great holiday season as well.
@@tristangardner3889 Thanks. Ironically, I had planned on getting the clock serviced after the first of the year since I haven't a clue when it was last serviced. I do miss hearing the chimes. You take care for now.
Hey Tristan. I have a question. I'm currently on the hunt for a clock with the ode to joy chime aswell Is there any clues or anything to go off of like a model number to help my hunt to find a clock with this chime? Thank you!
Good question. The clock with the Ode to Joy chime I have is a Howard Miller Arendal mantel clock. The model is 635-146. There may be more clocks that have this chime. Having said that, I hope this gives you the information you need. Good luck!
Sounds like you had a busy day. 😂 At least you only need to do this twice a year.

I'm so glad you're enjoying your bird clock. I always enjoy listening to mine. I may collect another with different bird species sometime.
It must take a lot of effort to record over an hour of gameplay footage of an old LCD game like this, struggling for lighting and dealing with unrelated background noise.

My grandmother had the same clock except the outter ring or whatever was green. Sadly it wasn't sounding like this one sounds due to the battery compartment semi-corroded.
I'm pretty sure the battery compartment can be cleaned up so it can be good as new again.
Watching a bread machine kneading dough is mezmerizing. Years ago, my mother-in-law bought my wife and I a Zojirushi BB-CEC20. We still have it. Sadly though, we are now both Type 2 diabetics. So, we don't use the machine anymore. Since I watched your other videos of the HB301, I'm craving bread NOW! 😂
It's too bad about your Type 2 diabetes, but I'm glad you enjoyed seeing my bread machine in action. Homemade bread does make mouths water. I hadn't used the machine in a while, and I figured it needed a good workout, but I think I'm getting better at slicing bread.
@tristangardner3889 I really enjoyed your video and the others too. My wife and I decided we will break out our machine and make a loaf soon; diabetes be darned. LOL! I hear you about slicing bread. I never could achieve nice even slices.
Sweet!
Nice clock. Do you have a 613-192 Downing in your collection?
Sadly, I don't. However, I'd like to get one with a Kieninger movement someday. Right now, I'm enjoying my Webster model.
@tristangardner3889 Hopefully, you'll come across a Downing in the future. The Webster 613-559 is a beautiful clock too.
Hi.
Where is there a Howard Miller clock?
You're seeing it right now on the screen. I have many Howard Miller clocks in my collection.
I purchased one of these in an estate recently, it was missing the pendulum. I made a home made but am looking to put one on it that is proper weight. The one I hung must be to light because it is running extremely fast. Would you happen to have an idea of the appropriate weight of pendulum for this clock? any help is appreciated Thx
That's a great question. Even though I don't know the exact weight of the pendulum bob in this grandfather clock, I did some research on it and found out that a common one-second pendulum bob, kind of like what I have in mine, weighs around two kilograms, which is about four pounds, give or take. I don't know if the grandfather clock you purchased has an instruction manual, but you can consult that or ask a local clock shop for additional information. I hope the information I provided helps you. Best of luck.
I love ur clocks ❤️❤️❤️😊😊
Thank you. That really means a lot to me.

@@tristangardner3889 oh, I wasn't looking to buy one. I had the song stuck in my head but couldn't find the name for it for years. I had given up until I saw a picture of a similar toy. Image search led me here to this video which was the exact toy I had with the exact song I was looking for. I don't know how long I would have looked without your video so thanks again
You're very welcome. I'm glad my video helped. I'm going to feature this toy in a book I'm currently writing.
Do you have to take the paddle out before it bakes?
That's a good question because even though I don't usually do it, you can do so to prevent large holes in the bottom of your bread. You can use a timer to measure the time between when the bread machine starts and the final rise begins. However, it depends on the model you have.
Nice work! Mind if I contact you for some voice work?
