Welcome to the UW Combined Fund Drive, the University of Washington's workplace giving campaign. Everyday, UW faculty, staff and retirees put their compassion into action and support thousands of non-profits locally, nationally and internationally. 💜💛
There’s No Planet-B: Solutions for a Sustainable Future
Join the UW Combined Fund Drive for an urgent conversation on environmental conservation and sustainability. In There’s No Planet-B: Solutions for a Sustainable Future, we’ll hear from three organizations at the forefront of protecting our planet's most vulnerable ecosystems, species and resources. From bird conservation and whale protection to zero waste initiatives, this event brings together diverse perspectives on how we can take collective action for the future of our environment.
Featured Speakers:
BirdNote
BirdNote connects millions of people worldwide to the beauty and wonder of birds through vivid, sound-rich storytelling. Their mission is to inspire listeners to care about birds and the challenges they face, while fostering a deeper connection to nature. BirdNote's focus on respect, stewardship, diversity, and inclusion aligns with their goal of empowering people to become champions of conservation. By embracing fun, curiosity, and courage in their storytelling, they spark joy for the natural world, encouraging people to take steps to protect it.
Orca Network
Orca Network has been fostering a strong connection between whales and people in the Pacific Northwest since 1996. Their Whale Sighting and Education Project raises awareness about the critically endangered Southern Resident orcas and other cetaceans, encouraging stewardship and actions to protect their habitats. With a mission rooted in observation and education, Orca Network motivates the public to actively participate in restoring marine ecosystems, preserving orca populations, and learning about the challenges these magnificent creatures face.
Zero Waste Washington
Zero Waste Washington is leading the charge toward a sustainable future by advocating for producer responsibility, reducing plastic pollution, promoting reuse and repair, and removing toxic chemicals from products. Their vision focuses on creating a circular economy that minimizes waste and maximizes resource recovery. Zero Waste Washington’s innovative approaches-such as pushing for policies to redesign products and packaging and promoting the repair economy-address the environmental challenges posed by consumer waste and plastics, while driving market shifts toward sustainability.
If you care about the future of our planet and want to learn more about practical, actionable steps to make a difference, this session is for you. Discover the transformative work these organizations are doing and be inspired to take part in the movement toward a more sustainable and eco-friendlier world.
