    It'd be helpful to know how you got the value '22.5', which you take the cosine of, from the number of spokes in the wheel build. Thanks for a great explanation of a complicated topic.

      Great point! Short answer: it's the angle at which a spoke leaves the hub. Long answer: We swept under the rug for simplicity here. What is called "X" in this video is known as θ (theta) ... a great resource to visualize this is Karl's www.kstoerz.com/freespoke/
