After 10 months, are you still happy with this log splitter?

2 secs times the three times it takes to split a small piece of wood.

yeah i have the 34 ton version , it went really good to start with , then the base plate the motor was mounted on fell to pieces , so i rebuilt that a lot stronger , but i made a fatal mistake , as i didnt understand exactly how some of the bits worked , the manual that came with it was a piece of shit , anyway the fatal mistake was tightening the fan belts to much when after i repaired it , i didnt realize the belts needed to be not tight and not loose , this is a sort of safety clutch , as the rack belts the piece of wood through the axe , as it reaches the end it allows the belts to slip on the flywheels , otherwise ya do what i did , smashed the pinion and bent the engaging bit , it just went through anything like that , anyway the guys at Forestwest were great they sent me new parts at no cost and i finally repaired it not long ago , i have split about 30 ton since and it is working great , it is not as powerful as my 30 ton hydraulic splitter , but it is still way faster and way better , the hydraulic splitter is to slow , i wanna split wood , not stand around waiting for the splitter to be ready for me , it has split anything i want to split , its a good machine , well worth the money

Who makes the engine?

Ash is not a test. We burned it growing up in the 1960's. Hell, we split it with a double blade ax. Straight grain an easy to split wood. But we also burned locust, and that is the wood you should have used.

Quite a setup you have there. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Been looking for a splitter my wife would use (she doesn't want to deal with starting a gas/hydraulic splitter when it's cold). Thanks for sharing!

Great video! I think you just sold me on which one to buy! I was really concerned when it says “max log size 16inch but i see there is a little more room there for 17 or 18”. It looks like it has plenty of power. My only concern is that noise it makes if it can’t split the log is that the belt squealing?

I sure hope you make a 8" and 10" version of this. My shop is too small for a combo and I can easily tuck away a jointer and a thickness planer if they are separate tools. I've been looking at some 10" benchtop jointers but none are cast iron top and don't have a spiral cutter. I can't be the only one who want's this and doesn't care about the weight of it.

The knife should be taller for less hang ups.
