Brewing a White IPA on BrewZilla Gen 4
Here Andrew aka Gandy has a second go at a White IPA (a fusion of an American style IPA and a Belgian wheat beer). The first brew was a failure due to excessive bitterness but this was on the money with a lovely golden colour, refreshing bitterness, aromatic hop character, sticky orange flavour and peppery nose. It was also our third brew on the BrewZilla Gen 4 and we go into more of the functionality and hardware including the RAPT temperature probe and whirlpool attachment.

Black IPA First Attempt on BrewZilla Gen 4

Here Andrew aka Gandy creates a Black IPA recipe and brews it on our BrewZilla Gen 4 35L home brewing system. Results are mixed but promising with various areas we can work on. Great video. How did waiting 10 mins before recirculating help the mash? Does this not a sudden drop in temp or was it all nice and stable?

    Hi there - really enjoying the kit😊. Just thinking about bottling at the end (and apologies if anyone else in the thread has already asked this) - I assume it is best to complete the whole process in the barrel and then decant at the end into washed or sanitised bottles? The barrel is a bit chunky to keep in the fridge, so I was thinking it would be better to complete the brew and then bottle up for a simpler way to store. Is that OK/is there a better route if keeping in bottles? Thanks😊

    • @BrewBrosUK
      @BrewBrosUK 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi yes that’s totally possible. Definitely ferment in the keg and then siphon into sanitised bottles from the stopper rather than use the tap (so minimal oxygen is introduced). I know the keg is bulky but it would be worth cold crashing (refrigerating) for a couple of days before you transfer to bottles so most of the sediment/hop debris/dead yeast falls to the bottom allowing you to siphon from the top down. We find brown plastic bottles are the easiest and cheapest to use and don’t lead to cap issues. Enjoy 🍺

    Hello there. I'm currently in the fermentation process. Once it's all done I was hoping to bottle it and give it out. Would it be ok to just pour it into bottles after the 4 weeks?

    • @BrewBrosUK
      @BrewBrosUK 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi yes that’ll be fine. We recommend ‘cold crashing’ where you put it in the fridge for 2-3 days and then remove the stopper and use a siphon. Work your way from the top of the keg down so you’re transferring the clearest beer rather than the sediment at the bottom. Also, clean and sanitise the bottles and use a siphon where the end reaches the bottom of the bottles. Sounds complicated but you just want to maximise clear beer and minimise bacteria and oxygen ingress. Cheers 🍻

I've gotten the process down enough that I'm comfortable with just buying the ingredients separately and experiment on my own. I've used Nottingham yeast a couple of times and now I'm using the Lallemond Verdant IPA for banana ale with molasses and a mixture of English Malt and Styrian and Fuggles Hops. I really hope it works out well just as it did with your brew. I've neer tried any of the Safale yeast before.
