Any affiliation with air dog filter systems?
You are making the Right upgrades for your truck with the S&B and the Banks CAI.
Turned out this was my issue. I verified it was a ground issue and then went looking for this ground wire. I cut off off the barely hanging end terminal and crimped on a new one. Problem solved. It was a total PITA because of the location of the wire; not a lot of access for working and there isn’t much slack in the wire.
@@saewoody6366 that’s why I just run it up to the negative on the battery figure it’s the best place . But I mean look at the truck I’m work on lol
Can’t believe you haven’t gotten any comments yet! This gives me something to look at. Thanks!
At the beginning of video you mention having continuity between the 2 data lines. Was the verified when the GP dash light was lit up or whenever the key is on?
What’s the problem you are having?
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN No voltage to the GP. I have verified everything in this video plus more. Voltage where it should be. Grounds are good. Continuity to GP. All new GP installed. New controller installed. No codes.
@@davidhaynes3442 is the truck starting?
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN Yes, when the outside temp is warm. Or when I have driven the truck. My problem is--When I turn the ignition key to start the truck and the GP light comes on, There is no voltage going to any of the GP.
@ it’s possible the controller is bad if you have a scope you can see if the data lines are talking or trying to talk to the gpm
I've got an issue..i have 2 new batteries and today i put in my second starter and the truck still won't start..i have lights and all just no crank or anything..cables all look good..any advice moving forward would be much appreciated
@@paulalbertson1597 are you getting power on the purple wire aka small one on the starter when trying to crank? What year truck is it? Auto or standard?
Any Updates? I am going to do this to one of my 6.5. Already got the intercooler and spare core support. Curious how yours turned out.
@@carsonbrown2791 I have a ton of customer work and needed repairs to my own fleet so I’ve been picking away at this when I have time. Problem is I’m trying to use some off the shelf stuff so that it can be easily be replicated by someone. The biggest thing is battery relocation and washer tank relocation on 96+ trucks
Bought a van with an LLY. Crank but no start. It was sitting for 15 years so I started by dropping and cleaning the tank, removing the factory fuel lines, filter, and pump and installed a Fass pump and new fuel lines to the motor. Still no start but I’m just getting started and will find the problem. It supposedly has a bad FPR but the owner couldn’t afford to fix it and left it sit. Videos like this will help me
@@tomaskey6844 your going to need a decent scanner to own and diagnose these trucks. Never trust someone else’s diag. You should always diagnose it yourself
@ yes sir. I have a scanner that will get the job done. I’ll figure it out and now that I have the fuel delivery fixed I’ll keep moving through the system until I find the problem. It supposedly ran a few months ago but by the looks of the diesel in the tank I don’t see how. It was getting thick and sticky.
I like your style if it isn't broke don't fix it just do what is necessary without having to be a perfectionist on an old truck good job and a good Brother
@@davidblozen9531 thank you for that.
not much out there for info on LLY's. This diagram and testing glow plugs using the connector helped out a bunch!
Thank you for the video. I'm having problems with my 93 6.5. I haven't started on it but when I do I may ask you a question. Very informative.
my 1989 chevy silverado is messing up bad on me & I can't figure out what is wrong with it . i unhook the vaccum holes to map & it runs better , I changed IAC & tested map sensor & it holds vaccum .
@@davidbateman5542 the 2 wire engine temp sensor and 1 wire o2 sensor are big contributors to poor running on those else tbi engines but I’d have to diagnose it myself
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN I changed the temp sensor but not o2 . sure wish i could you too but i live in AR & doubt i could afford it . Thank You for your help
@@davidbateman5542 if you’re in Arkansas, then you could always go up to Pennsylvania and see Ivan at pine Hollow auto diagnostics

Hope you video more of this project I would like to see how it’s completely finished and to see what you do with the transmission lines also

@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN Apparently not 🤣 Also, I think you mean woolWAX. Yeah it's good as well.
How many quarts does it this transmission take?
@@manrriquesoy2996 12-14 total
Lets see it when your done! Like seeing the finished product
That would be awesome if you could get them running
How do you know if its deep vs shallow pan?
If you google the difference there’s some pics online but most of the deep pans have a drain plug from my experience and the shallow pans don’t
Love it.
If i get a new tank should i just not run a sock?
I never use the sock just an inline filter
Sounds good! New bike or customers?
Maybe on a different truck my service trucks probably getting this tho. I’ve got something like 10 trucks lol
Why not air to water?
I would consider running a ground strap or wire from the terminal to those grounds or have the grounds directly on the terminal But that is good that worked for you and solved your problem! Great video!
If you watch the video I did put 3 wires in total from the battery terminal to the 2 grounds. One wire was 8 gauge and the other wires that were two doubled up or 10 gauge.
RustLife
It has one and i think thats part of the problem. Im actually disconnecting that all together. I appreciate the thoughts and advice, big time though!
mechanics when they actually have to do some work :😡😡😡🤬🤬
I hope your local. I have a 1980 corvette that drains the battery ALL the time. Cant figure it out!
Ha!
Weird that doesn’t have a lot in it to stay on
bad ground?
Maybe a parasitic draw or bad connections. Check fuses with car off to see if anything is pulling power
Try disconnecting the alternator- it is a possibility....
Damned Chinesium clamps...
Short to ground lmao
😅
Do you know where the lift pump ground is?
G404 after the last cab mount on the frame rail for a pickup anyway
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN Ok, I'll have to look. I thought I followed the wire forward into the firewall area.
@@jvm3753 it’s usually on the top of the frame right below the filler neck hose
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN Ok, thanks.
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIANBut, the lift pump lives below drivers door, on inner side of frame rail. Power and ground travels towards engine compartment in the tubing.
Hey I've got a No Bus on my 02 3500.. runs and drives, no overdrive and button doesn't work, no gauges work other than RPM, check engine fuel abs brake and some other dummy lights on, no OBD communication. Not sure what the issue is. I've done the cluster diagnostics the gauges work when doing the test, but not sure what it can be. Where should I start with diagnosing this?
powers and grounds. did you check the grounds i fixed in the video?
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN I did discover those studs with the wiring. I did not reroute them, but i did clean the studs and existing terminals. Then I added new grounds and terminals for batteries. Re routed the ground that lays over the alternator and rerouted to the drivers battery.
@@GunsandOil if you look at my shorts, there is a video in there with some Chrysler grounds that had an issue and the two larger grounds on top of all the smaller ones made it seem like there was nothing wrong you should find it and watch it.
@@GunsandOilmy 3500 is doing the exact same thing man did you ever figure it out
@@dakotarowe7131 man I replaced the pcm it took my initial problems away with non functional gauges, no OBD communication, and “no bus” codes. It will crank and crank all day but no start. Not sure if it’s a bad replacement PCM
Are you going to show another video what it looks like when your finished with the in stall. Please thankyou rob.
I’ll do my best to make it happen.it’s hard to film when I’m really busy and I never know what content will do well and TH-cam still doesn’t pay yet
So the old pump does not have a bypass meanwhile the 130 GPM Pump has a bypass. What happens to the bypass? Do you simply shut it or what?
Both have a bypass fitting it is whether or not you choose to put a restriction in it to restrict the flow, going back into the engine instead of circulating through the radiator
@@TRUCK_TECHNICIAN Thanks for the answer. Just realised they both have a bypass.
Did you ever figure out the issue?
So 1999-2001 XL 7.3, Prolly been a work truck abused all its life, mine with 208,096 miles exactly would smoke that thing if I was going 1/2 throttle something’s off, drop the tank and clean the pencil filters she might run a lil stronger
I upgraded to the HO pump and Duramax fan on my 96 6.5 diesel with the bypass fitting. Have had -0- issue's with overheating. Runs consistently 15°-20° cooler. Especially good when pulling our boat. Worth every penny. Got all my parts from Leroy Diesel.
