    A truly informative speech, by a remarkably articulate man. The UK can be proud to have a Speaker of this stature, I know lots of people abroad (including me) would enjoy having a man or woman in the Chair of their respective parliaments this willing to defend the legislative branch against the executive's potential abuses of power.

    What Bercow will always be remembered for is keeping good order and ensuring honourable and right honourable gentlemen, frontbench and backbench, are heard. They must be heard. Why do some Conservative ministers have a problem with that?

    1:28:17 - 1:29:17 Treason. Parliament has no constitutional power to be a backseat driver of Government. The only constitutional means for Parliament to thwart the democratic will of the people to leave the EU is to repeal the EU Withdrawal Act 2017 or pass a vote of No Confidence to either change the Government or trigger an election. Mr Speaker Bercow's reference to "procedural creativity" is an admission that he has already usurped the constitution to stop Brexit and will do so again. The clear duty of Her Majesty's Government is to ask Her Majesty to sign a warrant to arrest Speaker Bercow for Treason and summon the Chiefs of Staff to execute that warrant.

    • @ZygimantasA
      @ZygimantasA 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are an idiot. Read what Dicey or Lord Bingham said about Parliamentary democracy. Only Parliament is sovereign and only Parliament alone can do or undo the laws of the land. Withdrawal Act does not specify the exit date, therefore your argument is null.

    • @brittanydawn2633
      @brittanydawn2633 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A nice demonstration of why we do need a codified constitution, thanks. Otherwise ignorant people shout "treason" at parliament doing its job to hold the unelected executive to account. We live under parliamentary democracy where parliament, not the monarch nor the executive, is sovereign.

    • @GraemetheGuiriLordHaHa
      @GraemetheGuiriLordHaHa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brittanydawn2633 - "Unelected executive". I have someone calling me ignorant who doesn't think our Government was elected and someone else calling me an idiot who doesn't understand what "2 years" means. Remoaners (as distinct from those who voted Remain but accept the outcome of a democratic vote) live in a parallel universe where their egos transcend all. Only Black Rod placing Speaker Bercow under arrest for Treason will bring them back to reality.

    • @brittanydawn2633

      @@GraemetheGuiriLordHaHa oh and when was Boris Johnson elected specifically as a member of our executive by the electorate? He wasn't. That's why parliament is sovereign and not the executive. So you calling treason is utter nonsense. I won't bother to reply to your name calling drivel. I have better things to do with my time. Enjoy the rest of your day.

    • @richardsmith8094

      @@GraemetheGuiriLordHaHa We don't elect our government. We elect representatives (not delegates) to parliament, and then a government is formed. You might currently feel that the government should be able to do it's own thing without the interference of Parliament (even to the point of the Government being able to disobey the law), but that's simply because you happen to agree with the government at the moment. Beware of supporting such a shift in power, because it really does open the door to autocracy.
