This is my first 360 cam edit. Not sure what happened to the audio and I apologize for that. It seems to be lagging behind by a few seconds.

Tarantula 100 in Alamagordo, NM. A little ride along for about half of the race before my GoPro died. Ended up going down pretty hard later in the race. Broke a few spokes on the rear wheel, blew out the rear shock, and bent bars. But I still finished and got 6th in the Open B class. Yoshi claims the pipe is designed to make the most horsepower with the insert in, the only reason its removable is to replace it with a spark arrestor style if that is needed. Just got my 25 450rwe and was looking into removing it but not sure its worth it.

  • @wjones2341
    @wjones2341 ปีที่แล้ว

    I ride mostly motocross and trails I loved the sound of my fmf I had but got tired really quick of buying new side panels from it burning my plastic. Since u kept it out have u had any problem out of the motor with it running leaner. I know u experienced the glowing red pipe and hotter did your yoshi ever burn your side panels

    • @mototv5433
      @mototv5433 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not had to replace any plastics. It is definitely a leaner map than what it was originally. I don't have a way to plug into it to see exactly how lean or hot it gets. But I have not had any problems with it burning anything.

  • @wjones2341
    @wjones2341 ปีที่แล้ว

    So after the update u def noticed it. Did it run lean after u put the silencer back in. Because when I put mine on today I didn’t touch the silver and I def noticed it was running way better started better and everything. So did yours run like it was supposed to with the silencer in thanks for the quick response and last question would u def recommend keeping the silencer in

      I've honestly not ran it much at all with the baffle in. It was extremely quiet, I think quieter than stock exhaust. I do remember it being a touch more responsive on low end out of corners. But desert is mostly my thing and I was trying to kill bottom end as much as I could. So much so that I put 15t front sprocket and 48t rear. It helped a lot with the bottom end pull and over working you in tight and technical sections. Feels much more like a two stroke now. Smooth when you want it to be but still very strong mid and top end. It all really depends on what style of riding you do and what you're looking for. Almost any bike can be built or modified to fit your needs.

    So I like watching other peoples videos to see how they pass people and with Alamogordo how people like the Volkswagen size whoops. But one thing I did notice after the 15 minute mark and I don’t know if it was before, but between every 20 30 seconds why do you look back in? Because at least two or three times you look back and missed a turn. I know everybody’s looking forward to the Tarantula and oh my God next year hope to see you at one of them.

      It's a bad habit. I'm a disabled vet (USMC). I know how hard people work to catch and pass others and it's an old school desert mentality. If someone caught you, you make an effort to let them by. So I try my best to make sure I'm not impeding on someone's lap times. I'm not winning any races in this. It's all for fun and to stay active. I have my moments of speed and nostalgia. But it's mostly for fun. Thanks for watching! Hope to see you out there as well.

    Sweet bike I got the 22 450rx and just put the rs12 on. I had a fmf 4.1 silencer on it. It was causing the bike to run lean and was burning my side panels. When u took the silencer out and rode it did it do anything to that nature of like feeling it ran lean or anything or any negative feedback after the silencer was out l. Thanks

      @mototv5433 ปีที่แล้ว

      My model was the first year of the new bike. It was great until I took it back in for the map update. After that it was definitely lean and running hotter. Low end was a little cleaner but I definitely noticed hotter temps and glowing header pipe.

    • @NickW90
      @NickW90 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you have just the fmf muffler on and it was running lean? What issues were you having

    • @wjones2341
      @wjones2341 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NickW90don’t get me wrong it sounded awesome very loud especially without the insert. But there was a production flaw with the fmf when your boot presses on the very tip of the side panel it was pushing it touching the midpipr but was completely melting the side panel. With the yoshi installed I have not had the problem once and the bike runs smoother and better way better than with the fmf. I think with the stock header it’s so wide with the fmf it there way to much airflow. The yoshi in the way to go hands down and even with the baffle out of it it runs smooth u can hear how much smoother the bike run and the yoshi has a deeper growl than the fmf. You will not go wrong with the yoshi I’ve had both and the fmf is not for the Honda

    • @wjones2341
      @wjones2341 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NickW90I was about to trade my Honda and took the yoshi back off where I was selling and put the fmf back on. And when I went from the yoshi to the fmf u could hear how the bike didn’t like it. It almost sounded like a miss vs the yoshi. With the yoshi when they designed it they made that midpipe more at an inside angle to where the sidepanel won’t touch it. With the fmf it’s very close the midpipe is way to close. And with the added airflow causing it to run lean it’s just gets so hot it really Will completely burn your side panels. Fmf was great customer service I actually shipped it back out and they welded a bracket on it to keep the side panel away and done it for free. Great customer service it just not for the Honda. When yoshi built the rs12 it was for the stock ecu and everything. I got the stainless full and u can tell a huge difference as soon as u fire it up. Smooth is the only word I can describe to it the best but also more powerful. Even with the insert out it still runs very smooth. Hope this helps

    Here we go, another slow rider on the 450 so everyone says the 2strokes are faster even though other race video`s prove they aren`t. You all forget its a bang every 2 strokes V a bang every 4 strokes. The first 450 was faster than the last 500 but you all carry on about 15-20yrs later. Get over it. You can blame Suzuki & Yamaha for killing the 500. Suzuki stopped making them & Yamaha couldn`t build a bike to catch the CR & KX 500 so they killed them. Yamaha went to the 4stroke 400 & 426 but Honda built the first 450, from the Japanese brands.

    Run them on a paved surface if you truly want to see which one is faster. Dyno shows they are very similar, and 30 years later, 4 strokes can compare to 2 stroke power in stock trim. My cousin has a 500cc 2 stroke race motor on a 2013 rm450 bike. Smokes any 450 he ran so far, 30 years of suspension helps. I like both, but have seen good running 350 banchees even destroy 450 dirt bikes. Honda made 200hp out of their 4 cylinder 2 strokes, the Hayabusa matched it with over twice the cc.

    Depending on the year, they started detuning in late 80s, 85-87 had most top end, then they turned them into low end torque, low revving engines. Amazing how many people get on here, and are totally misinformed. I beat one so I can beat them all... Race mine. No chance you can keep up, but mine is built. So, it wouldn't be fair right? This one is a 97 model. All stock except FMF fatty. It hasn't been on the channel since because it is currently in pieces. The head and jug are at Eric Gorrs shop currently getting ported for more mid to top end power and higher compression to bring back what it's going to lose on the bottom from porting. Also have a 44HV lectron being built. It should be a very healthy CR500 when it's all back together. But Yoshi claims that just that system puts the bike at ~60hp and 36ft/lbs. The big difference is the new bike is very linear power. There is power down low, through mid, and still pulling hard up top. The CR is currently in pieces and head and jug are at Eric Gorrs shop getting ported for more mid to top end and higher compression to bring back what the bottom end will lose from porting. Also have a 44HV lectron being built for it. The 500 should be a very healthy bike when all back together. I will be running it in a local sand drag event early Feb. I will also make another video with all of the bikes.

      @@Jbear-gy4gq still slower than the 450. I know it hurts to think about.

    Does it handle any different with the bar clamps moved to the front position? Are your bars totally level? My left side holes in the triple clamps are slightly lower than the right.

    Not to poop on your parade just want to share something with you and anyone else thinking of doing this. The designers designed the exhaust to keep that insert in, it's only removable so you can add a spark arrestor th-cam.com/video/m8WhKb_gOzI/w-d-xo.html

    Comes down to rider skill on what machine with experience, 4 strokes are more forgiving . 2 stroke monster's back when men were men and you needed testicular fortitude to handle the beast!

    Sweet bike! Has anyone ever done a dyno run with the spark arrester baffle in and then again with it out? Also Pro circuit pipe makes 3 more HP than Yosh all the way through the midrange and 1.5 more on peak power. Yosh looks sick though.

      I'm not sure honestly. At the time of this video Yoshi was the only thing available. The bike was still so new that only the r&d teams had products available. Even then it was hard to find someone that actually had one in stock. She's a ripper though for sure. Does not need any more power.

    Its gonna be a very long time before people accept that the 1 to 3hp advantage their old 500 has over a 450 is gonna be negligible in the real world. Had an 85 cr500 and a 19 yz450f, only situation i can think of that a 500 is gonna actually beat a newer 450 is in hill climb racing with extensions and paddle tires where the torque is actually useful.

      All bikes coming out now should have the updated maps. You should be perfectly fine.
