I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@GiovanniJakob That's actually quite impressive, I could use some Info on your FA, I am looking to make a change on my finances this year as well..
@@Chustinasarah My advisor is Victoria Carmen Santaella;

@@GiovanniJakob The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?

🤣 thanks for watching our video and commenting!
I would recommend to stay in Ipoh... in between Kuala Lupur and Penang. It is cheaper and the town is calm even though on mid day weekdays.. Food are good and utilizes such as broadband internet is at par with in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Hi thank you for watching our video and your valuable tip! Yes, the more we read and hear about Ipoh the more interesting it has become. We can imagine that it is a great place to live. Cheers, Matt and Monico
1 mill rm not rupiah. 1 mill rupiah pnly 300 rm
thanks for commenting. Yes, many have pointed out the mistake we made😔thanks for watching our video! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
if you dont have 200 - 300 k in the bank forget about long term stay in indonesia or malaysia, they dont want you to stay and live low cost, they want to force you to spend as much money as possible, they want to press you as much as possible, every 30 days, every 60 days, every 90 days, tax, tax flight ticket, tax, pay, it's just not worth it, but if you do have the 200-300k money in the bank, then you have a possible low cost option for long term but you have to be willing to deposit that money in their bank, it cant stay in your bank
Hi thank you for your comment. Yes you need to be financial well off to be able to meet many requirements. Indonesia, Malaysia and many other countries that are popular among foreigners might have a low cost of living but to be able to live there long term will cost you. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico
Your video is not up to date at all !
Hi Thanks for watching our video and commenting. You are right, this video is from 7 months ago. There have been many changes ever since, especially with the MM2H. In a pinned comment we suggested always checking for updates. As for this video, it does show you the different visa options. These still exist however the requirements can change. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 saying that 3 days ago on a 7 months old video, is amazingly dumb
I am not a Malaysian, however, I did put a down payment on a Mivi (local decent car and much cheaper than a Toyota, Honda or Mazda) there. Perhaps if you need a loan, then you cannot buy without a job or are a resident there. It's also VERY hard for a US citizen to open a bank account there.
Hi thank you for sharing your experience! From the info we gathered, it seemed very easy to open a bank account and to buy a car. But in practice, it is a whole different story. Thanks again for commenting! Matt and Monico
Can foreigners children can get admitted into any school they want in Indonesia please reply me? 🥺
Yes they can go to a local school. There are also semi-private schools that have a mix of local and expat kids and where the school fees are lower (if money is the issue). Cheers, Matt and Monico
The question is if they tax monetary assets, income and pension?
If we are not wrong, all income created outside Malaysia will not be taxed. But always double check financial/tax advisor in Malaysia before actually going there. Cheers, Matt and Monico
If you want to live in Indonesis dont stay in jKarta. Stay in bogor that is very close to jakarta only cheaper

Hi I'm a Ghanaian, what will be the average salary in Malaysia? I want to relocate there
Hi thanks for commenting. We guess it all depends on what you will be doing. But to be straight forward, it is difficult to impossible to go to Malaysia and find a job. There are a lot of criteria to get a work permit. Often you need to be specialised in something or be invited by a company in Malaysia. If that is the case, then the salary is above average. Cheers, Matt and Monico
I’m thinking to move there soon. I’m agreed to rent first
Yes, renting is the best option if you are still figuring out where exactly you want to live plus if you are new to the country, then you don't have to figure all the maintenance and tax stuff out immediately. But in the case for Malaysia or any other country it is the question if it wise to buy property. To know the country better, living there while renting a place is better to figure it out. Good luck when moving to Malaysia! Matt and Monico
Two more fakers on a tourist visa.
Thanks for watching at least....
@@makethemove101 US$1million government deposit and proof of US$9k/month external income to obtain a visa are kind of significant. Of course, given Malaysia's track record, getting that deposit back could be difficult.

Hi, thank you for your kind comment. We are happy to hear you loved our videos. Yes, the house was 2500USD, for a year. Most houses outside Bali are rented out for 1 year or more. Pharmacies are in abundance. As for sunscreen zinc oxide uncoated, I don't think they have that. They have the usual sunscreen brands. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 Thanks. Several people in Indonesia have emailed me asking 4 zinc oxide uncoated. Wonder if Indonesians get basal carcinoma as often as western folks. Love Indonesia but if i could would live in Japan: ease of public transportation & safety. Traveled all over Indonesia 4 years: Bali, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi, Timor, Moluccas, Iran Jaya, stayed in Bali & Yogya 4 extended periods of time.
That's a lot!! Of money you guys must have been living in a nice area with luxuries or upper middle class lifestyle. I know people who are getting by on $600 to $700 usd a month living lower budget but not poor. I mean you guys are talking about having personal drivers personal cleaners gardeners obviously that's not a lower cost lifestyle. You guys are taking monthly trips around Indonesia I mean that's why you are spending that kind of money. Then you are talking about the spa and getting massages you are living that real good lifestyle not a budgeting lifestyle. I mean I'm happy for you all the power to you being able to have that kind of lifestyle. I'm living in the USA for under $1,500 a month as a person of 1 but I don't live a luxury lifestyle just the basics and I'm good to go. I don't mind living the way I do to much I mean who doesn't want to have more money right lol. Do you guys ever travel and try to live on a low budget and frugal lifestyle like a person in the place you are visiting making minimum wage? Just curious if you have done any low budget type of traveling. I'm sure it's a little bit harder with a younger kid than if you were a couple with no children.
Hi thanks for watching and commenting on our video. Yes, USD3500 is a lot. Far more then you actually need when living in Indonesia. This video is really based on what we need if we would live in Indonesia (health insurance, travel expenses, schooling not to mention sports etc, visa, eating out....it all adds up). If you would do the bare living expenses then it would be far cheaper....definitely. Especially if you are by yourself. You don't need much. When it was just the two of us, we has about USD1500 a month. Which was a lot too, but we needed to do a lot of visa runs and internet was really expensive at that time etc etc. It all depends on your lifestyle, why you want to move abroad (upgrade of livestyle, more traveling etc) and being financially secure. You don't want to move to the other side of the world to live long term on a tight budget. We believe you need to be financially secure to be able to handle unexpected expenses so you don't have to return back to your original country empty handed. Especially with a child. We are talking about immigrating to Indonesia, not just staying a couple of month (=long term holiday) or just a year. Cheers! Matt and Monico
I’m from Penang and can’t recommend it more. Born there hence biased x
Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment and your recommendation. We heard many great things of Penang, so you are not the only one who thinks its a good place to live. Cheers! Matt and Monico

4:14... Rupiah ? Please 🙏 don't cursed us with that dirt...
Wow…many commented on the one mistake we made in the video. But this comment can be listed in the top 3 of most hateful.
One can be forced to emigrate. I would not voluntarily emigrate to a country where I could not obtain permanent residency in a short time after presenting my credentials. To have the concern about having to leave after committing to another country is oppressive. Maylaysia, according to what I read, will grant only temporary residency unless one has over a million US dollars to deposit in a Maylasian bank. I find that unacceptable. Any country has the opportunity to review an immigrant's acceptability before granting even one a one day visa. If there is no fraud in the entry application and the entry terms are met, then it is accepted and the review is completed for a lifetime.
We fully understand what you mean but in the end that is the world of visa’s and immigration. Other countries also have requirements that are almost impossible to meet. Even the Dutch will send people ‘home’ even if they have lived and worked here and their children are born here. It’s complicated. But in the case of Malaysia, if you have money then you are welcome
for malaysia and indonesia, tourists are considered walking ATMs and they dont want that ATM to be empty otherwise you are not welcomed more than 30 days, these clowns are business focused
Wow, Malaysia seems like a budget-friendly destination! Considering the cost of living per month, it's definitely tempting to make the move. 🤔💼
Yes Malaysia has become a popular destination to move and travel to. The cost of living is very doable but as a country it is also a wonderful place to live
All too complicated! A country could just state a minimum monthly income that can be demonstrated or a minimum bank deposit as an investment in Maylasian property. For this, I want a permanent residency VISA and freedom from taxation by the national Maylasian government for a period long enough to obtain citizenship. My country, the USA, would tax me wherever I lived. I must renounce USA citizenship to avoid taxation by USA. To do this, I first must obtain Maylasian citizenship. I have no dependents and am over 65 years old and in good health. If this is now possible, I would give it serious consideration; visit Maylaysia and provide documentation.
not possible - Malaysia does not offer citizenship to foreigners, look elsewhere.
Yes @tinglestingles is absolutely right. You can not get citizenship for Malaysia. In general this is the case for many countries in South-East Asia
You need to know that Malaysia is the richest country in Southeast Asia.. and did you know... the tallest tower in the world is in Malaysia...
Hi thanks for commenting! We thought Singapore is the richest? Malaysia is cultural rich perhaps?💛 Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico

You can save a lot if you guys living in the outskirt of town or rural area. In rural area, you need to have 1 scooter & learn local language. The air quality also better & enjoy quiet surrounding..

All you are showing is high priced rentals, one can easily rent a 2 bedroom apartment in a nice area for 1500 or 1600 ringgits
Hi, thank you for watching our video and commenting. We mainly looked at large apartments/houses including furnitures. There is luckily a diverse range of rental prices, so enough choice for everybody. Cheers! Matt and Monico
How about 90 days here, 90 days there. Renting airbnb is better because the ringgit has dropped to 4.8 now.
AirBnb is a good option, it saves a lot of time and money when it comes to furniture etc. Plus you can move around, you don't have to stick to one place all the time. Thanks for watching our video and taking the time to comment. Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
It was introduced by bilionaire developers in cohort with corrupted politaiks to invite and welcome wealthy Hongkongites who detested Communist administration on the former British colony.
Hi thanks for commenting on our video. Yes, the government has set the financial requirements for the MM2H high and it will bring some foreign money into the country. You pay to be able to live there. Many neighbouring countries are now doing the same. As long as there are people who want to pay this types of possibilities will always exist. Cheers, Matt and Monico
I’m glad Indonesia has strict immigration rules, even though I was thinking about living there one day
They may seem strict but if you have the finance, it makes things a lot easier.😉 Thanks for commenting!
If I am living as a permanent resident of Maylaysia, must I pay taxes on my US pension and Social Security income to Maylaysia?
Hi thanks for watching our video. We are not entirely sure and to avoid giving you the wrong answer, it is best to check out expat Malaysia forums or facebook pages. You will meet a lot of people who are in the similar situation as yours. Sorry we couldn't be of much help. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico
I live on USA's social security pension and another pension as regular income sources. I also make investments in securities. All my income is taxed by my government. Information about my potential Maylaysian taxes is difficult to obtain. The only way I could be relieved of my US taxes would be to renounce my US citizenship. I would have to obtain other citizenship in order to do that. That would take many years, ordinarily. How can I learn how Maylaysia would treat me with regard to taxes if I were only a permanent resident - so that I could buy a house or condo?
Hi thanks for watching our video. Yes we heard that US citizens will pay tax despite not living in the USA. You will of course need to pay tax when settling in Malaysia. To get the correct information we suggest reaching out to a tax professional or accountant that specializes in these matters. You can find a lot of information and contacts through Malaysia expat forums. Sorry we couldn't give you details info but we hope our suggestions will help! Cheers, Matt and Monico

Hi, thanks for watching our video and commenting. Yes, 3000USD is a lot. But the budget is focused on long term living, so more then just a couple of months or one year. Plus we have a child that needs to go to school, this adds up to the costs. You will be surprised how much things add up if you are moving to a new country, there are different costs you need to deal with. Additionally we included travel expenses as well, which many do not add. At the end, it is safe to budget more and be financially stable before moving with a family. You don't want to have to return because of financial reasons. Cheers, Matt and Monico
All your info in regards to the MM2H visa program are incorrect ! Even when you posted this video six months ago ! Introducing the three-tiered program The MM2H program will be divided into three tiers. Silver; Gold; and Platinum. Each tier differs from the other in its fixed deposit requirements as well as the length of the visa duration. Under the silver tier, participants must deposit a minimum of 500,000 ringgit (US$105,744) and can only purchase real estate worth a minimum of 750,000 ringgit (US$158,609). Gold tier participants must deposit a minimum of 2 million ringgit (US$422,632) and can only purchase real estate worth a minimum of 750,000 ringgit (US$158,609). Participants will then be eligible for a 15-year renewable visa. Finally, platinum-tier participants must pay a minimum deposit of 5 million ringgit (US$1 million) and can only purchase property worth 1.5 million ringgit (US$316,980). Participants will then be eligible for permanent residency, a status that no residency program currently offers in Malaysia. Previously, the program required all participants to deposit a minimum of 1 million ringgit (US$211,000). Regardless of the tier, applicants have the right to withdraw half of their deposit to buy real estate and pay for medical expenses, domestic travel, or education. Other perks offered in the MM2H program The minimum age of eligible applicants has been lowered to 30 from 35. Further, parents-in-law can now be included as dependents if they are over the age of 60. The maximum age of the children of the main applicant has been raised to 34 from 21, however, the child must unmarried and not be in employment in Malaysia. Moreover, under all tiers, the main applicant or their spouse and dependents are only required to spend 60 days a year in Malaysia, down from 90 days before the changes. This is for applicants aged between 30-49 years.
Wow that's an extensive comment. We did an update on MM2H and SMM2H at the beginning of this year. We believe that at that time the info was accurate. Not sure if there have been new updates again th-cam.com/video/7xGKyGepb4s/w-d-xo.html Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
Thanks for the info. Sounds interesting. Can you recommend a lawyer or someone to assist with the application as some are not very clear on how to go about it ? Thanks.
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Their is an official list of licensed MM2H agents on this website www.motac.gov.my/en/check/mm2h. Hope it helps! Matt and Monico
So what happens if you want to stay long on a nomad visa how does that work?
Hi, thanks for your question....it's a good one. So far we only know you can renew it for an other 12 months (so total 2 years) and stay in Malaysia. After that it is unclear. We assume you can not extend it any longer since it is a 'nomad' visa, meaning you need to move on. Cheers, Matt and Monico
