Living with anxiety is hell. I have decided to video blog what it is like to live with anxiety to hopefully help others as well as myself. Please feel free to watch and leave comments, although try to refrain from negative comments as I am trying to do a good thing :-) Cheers.
I think what you're doing is great. There's not enough information about anxiety and panic attacks and generalised anxiety disorder. Thank you for sharing some of your story. I too have panic attacks. I also have generalised anxiety disorder which means that i can't turn off the intense worries in my head. Ignore the previous comment about tips. It's not a helpful comment as it doesn't add to what you're doing. What helps me a bit, though it's something you need to practice a lot and regularly to get the best effect is Mindfulness. Also, writing down your anxious thoughts and challenging them with rational thinking. That's an evidence based treatment. It's called CBT. You may have heard about mindfulness and CBT but if you haven't, I'd recommend looking them up on Wikipedia or just google them. I wish you well. I see you have another video blog so I'll watch that. Panic attacks, as you said, vary in intensity. I think the full blown ones are the worst. Makes me feel, you yourself, that I don't have control of anything and that the world is about to crumble down around me. Just about everything becomes frightening- bright lights, noises, my Mum, my boyfriend. No have other panic attacks where I don't get frightened of everything. I too have anxiety in social situations. I have social anxiety disorder and it's made reaching my goals in life (Uni studies, having a social network etc) ridiculously difficult. I'm saying all this to say that I feel I understand some of what you're experiencing and to offer some advice (see above) and help you feel that you're not alone. Take good care and I hope your life in general improves and that your anxiety issues abate so you can have a normal life.I wish this for myself too! Best of luck. Just realised that you posted this v blog in 2012. I hope you are in a better situation now in your life with regard to anxiety!
Thank you for your kind words!!! It has been a couple of years since this yes, but I do still suffer, although I am a lot better than what I was here. I have done a few vids about my journey, and am going to do another one soon about how I have progressed and how things have changed so keep a look out!! Thank you once again, and I wish you all the best for the future... One thing that has helped me immensely, is to turn every negative thought into a positive one... Whatever the negative thought is, find some sort of positive from it! :-)
Hiya, thanks for the comment. I do believe that I have previously had anxiety prior to the 2 years that I have noticeably had it. I have suffered depression on and off since I was 12 years old, and anxiety is generally a part of that as well. I think that I managed to control it because of the situation I was in didn't allow me to be "weak" as such and then when I got out of that situation, I could finally relax and then my anxiety truly came out.
