Truman realized that he was in a weird artificial environment way earlier. Most of the film is him realizing the scale of the deception and coming to terms with the fact that he is alone.

I like how you can see every SWAT members understand that they are outskilled and outgunned here but the only one who doesn't understand that is the one and only civilian
