I was 15-16 when grunge was at it's peak. I had the Singles OST on cassette, and, I wore it out!

This is a little taste of metal Nightwish. The 3rd single just dropped. Much heavier and more progressive. All Nightwish music comes to life on stage. Part of Floor's magic is on all these old songs she was unleashed to make them her own. She did not want to copy the studio versions or imitate Tarja or Annette.

Hi cuties, I love seeing your reactions on Nightwish. You genuinely enjoy their songs. I'm glad that my favorite band is attracting more and more fans around the world. They deserve it at least because they are 28 years old and still on the big stage. They never stop creating. I've been a fan of the band for maybe 20 years and look forward to every new song and album they release. I recommend you also react to one song from their album "Human Nature", namely Shoemaker. Shoemaker is a song from Nightwish worth checking out its studio / lyric video version. Especially in the last third or quarter Floor's voice gets magic. Something not captured in live recordings - at least not in the ones I've seen/heard.

Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that explores themes of disillusionment, heartbreak, and the destructive nature of love - "romanticide" = suicide by/of romance. The lyrics depict a sense of emotional detachment and a feeling of being misunderstood by others.

There is one woman who is Floor's equal. She was in a rather interesting group in the 70's that mixed rock, jazz and classical music. Renaissance, their best album was Renaissance Live at Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic. There are no videos. Someone did do a mash up to sync up the Carnegie Hall audio with a BBC video of the same song Ashes are Burning. Which is very good.

All their live versions have an edge that is not on the studio albums.

You're not wrong. I've always said, Floor is great in the studio, but she only gets her superpowers when performing live. And that's for all her projects, not just Nightwish. She was born to perform.

No song performed at Wacken 2013 was written for Floor to sing. Maybe you should start listening to albums made after 2013 and comparing their live performances. Just a thought... (btw, I barely listen to Sabaton so the fact that two people are married doesn't make me like Sabaton more, but I like Christmas Truce.)

I think most bands studio albums sound better. You can control the sound easier, and as you said...get it exactly perfect. Nightwish excels live. Sometimes recording quality isn't quite there and there are human things that happen. Wacken, Ratina, Wembley and Buenos Aires, even the Virtual show, Pink Pop and some other European shows. So consistently excellent live. This song, Romanticide, live. It is one of the performances that went past good, excellent, great, and outstanding all the way to stupid good. 12 on the scale that stops at 10. Wembley "seven Days to the Wolves" is another one.

Kind of a lame review, no original music just canned rock music, the commentary off in several instances, Not knowing what "American Woman" was about, common on!

Highly recommend checking out a Live performance. I saw them first 15 months ago as support to Muse and loved them immediately. The most popular song on YT is Enter Sandman cover with over 25 million views followed by Choke with over 8 million. They are currently dropping tracks from the Pepsi Centre concert from October 2023 on their channel - Disciple, 23, Choke, Z, Amour. All are great.

Shudder Before the Beautiful, live performance at Wembley, is one of my top5 adrenaline rushes. And it took literal years for youtube to recommend studio version of the song (never heard it before). It was great, crisp, had parts of symphony I never heard in the live show, and yet I still get back to their concerts, since seeing the audience genuinely react to song as enthusiastically as me, is just heartwarming.

Yes, you;re right. If you were to go and listen to a track that you've already listened to, but hear the studio version, they do just sound better live. Therefore when I'm listening to tracks from the new album, I just imagine how it's going to sound like live. Not sure about Perfume of the Timeless, but I can kind of "hear" what The Day Of would sound like live, and I think it would be just as epic as their other live stuff.

8:30 "You think with Yesterwynde they're going in a different direction?". Clearly yes. It was in the works with H:N (their previous album) already and with the departure of Marko and the concomitant rise of Troy to prominence, the turn away from melodic metal into more of a (too) heavily orchestrated film-scorish folksy rock sound with Floor constantly and deliberately buried in the mix.. ehm.. (where was I..), yeah, the chance seems irreversible. Ppl call it evolving. I'm increasingly tempted to put a "d" before that term, so obviously I don't think it is a good direction. To me (just personal opinion, don't kill me) New Nightwish feels more & more like a Holopainen solo project, disguised as a band. Interestingly enough, Floor has recently voiced quite a few misgivings about NW's current trajectory (in Dutch metal magazine "Aardschok", Sept/Aug edition). It's about missing Marko as a great vocalist, Troy as a not so great one who is overused as a singer on this album, and the decision not to tour (Floor has been really p!ssed about that). It's all very diplomatically stated for a Dutchie ("Maybe Troy should've been singing less on this album"), but the Valkyrie Goddess is clearly not amused. It's also about the way Tuomas communicated (not!) when e.g. he doubled all of Floor's vocal parts with Troy's in the track "Sway". She only found out when she heard the finalized song, which sounded as if Floor had been duetting with Troy. "Tuomas' choice", she opined "won't comment on it any further". Due to circumstances, she did all of the vocal parts at her home studio and unfortunately had even less input in the pre-production than on previous albums "written for her voice" (which I find utter bs, to be quite honest). All the more reason for clear communication one would think, but that's not exactly Tuomas' strong suit. QED.

Floor is a high sensitive person, so she feeds of the energy of a live crowd and gives it back in these kind of mindblowing performances. You can not recreate this in a studio. Floor was also the one who was not amused when the band agreed to keep live performances on hold for some time. She let that know during her solo shows shortly after that decision.

IMHO, most bands in the roams of rock and metal are usually better live. Sabaton, I don't like their albums too much, but I did enjoy seeing them live much more 😊

Nothing in the world, Nightwish or any other band, Live or studio, can top Nightwish 2013 Wacken Concert, Period!

Yes, Jukka had been a fantastic, very enthusiastic drummer. It is a pity that he had to stop drumming in 2014/2015 because of severe health problems. He is still with the band but now in management. His good friend Kai Hatho replaced him; he also is a great drummer but with a totally different style. And I love Emppu's guitar solo; he is a great artist - as all Nightwish members are - but never overplays as too many other guitarists do. The cry/glissando at the end originally was only sung by Marko (the song is from the Tarja era) but Floor joined him and both together made it something very special.

So I think, maybe it is time 4 u to check out the 2nd unbelievable Symphonic Metal Band in the universe > EPICA. Start with a soft one. Epica feat. Apocalyptica "Rivers" live AFAS. It is gonna be magical. Promised 🤩

Because Floor is better live, the songs are usually better live. There are only a few exceptions, like this one. This only works poorly on recordings from festivals because the ending doesn't fit there: NIGHTWISH - Shoemaker (Official Lyric Video)

The Warning - Live Concerts Teatro Metropolitan Pepsi Center Poland Rock Wacken

The guitar player ist Emppu. But Marko and Jukka, the drummer have leave the band (2020 and 2014). So the don't play these Songs again. Marko is a great loss as co-singer. Jukka Koskinen, the new bass player didn't sing as Marko.

Nightwish, one of the view bands that sound best live. The music videos and studio stuff are all good but they don't have the energy of live shows.

According your face expression more than 20 years old song still hits like a hammer. Great show indeed. Still my opinion is that concert almost quarter century they perform they best at the Pakkahuone (From Wishes to Eternity) It is even great to hear now even there was no digital equipment for tuning and recording - but the best was the drive that they have.

Sorry; but no studio recording can beat Floor and Nightwish Live. Even when Floor is heavily pregnant and completely at the end of her rope (like last year), she tops every studio production. Studio technology cannot replace interaction, band and audience.

Thank you peeps for your reaction, Storytime my fav short song but "The Poet and The Pendulum" and "The Greatest Show on Earth" both Wembley live songs are my #1 and 2. Romanticide is from their "Once" album, Tarja was the singer as to were a lot of the songs at Wacken Floor sang. I prefer Floor's vocals so my playlist for Nightwish are all her singing.

The Warning has performed at various major festivals, like Rock am ring, Rock am park, Wacken and Pol'and'Rock. And opened for Guns n Roses, Halestorm, Three days grace, Muse, the Killers and Def leppard just to name a few.
