Dodge Ridge "Truffle Pig" new intermediate tech trail
มุมมอง 2.1K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
7-13-2024 Dodge Ridge has been scrambling to open trails faster than my kids can open new cereal boxes lol. This one is a little less steep than their black diamond trails but of course, still full of chunk and loose brown powder. It's hard to say if they will continue to do some fine tuning and packing of the soil in the berms, perhaps after the enduro series race at the end of this month. It ...

This trail is not the fastest in the area but is still fun enough for most and leads to some steeper terrain. There are several short punchy climbs but still plenty of rock features and tight turns to keep me on my toes. Some of the best fall scenery around with orange oaks and yellow dogwoods, and my favorite, leaves and pine needles over hero dirt conditions. lol.

Sunday September 3rd 2023. A wet opening weekend for Dodge Ridge's newest technical trail. Apologies in advance for any water on the lens but these are rare conditions for bike park season in California so it made for an awesome clip IMO. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching. 🤙#bikepark #dodgeridge #downhill #mtb

BIG OOF at Mammoth Bike Park 08/27/22
มุมมอง 6612 ปีที่แล้ว
My first time riding at Mammoth Bike Park and sending everything blind. I had 3 epic runs before this and it was still the best day I've had on the bike all year. I lost a derailleur hanger and a shifter cable and sprained my wrist, not bad considering I dove through a tree and probably 7 or 8 feet down into a little ravine full of rocks. #downhill #downhillmtb #mammothmountain #fail #fails #mt...

Where are the jumps?
@@roughster1615 you'll have to get up there and see for yourself. I get that gopros make everything look smaller but I'm not gonna timestamp every jump. Just watch any video from after the full completion of the trail. This is from the very first day that they opened the top section. They get a lot bigger in the middle now that it's been built.
@@mathewbascom1811 Haha that wasn’t actually what I was asking. If it’s a jump line, IMO there should be more than 3 jumps over the course of the trail, but that’s just me
@@roughster1615 like I said, watch any Olympia video from this year. This is from the first day that they opened the first section, the current Olympia is 3 times longer now. There's a 30 footer and a 6 pack of tables that you're not gonna see in this vid.
Great video Matt!
hey bro where it at? do you have strava link?
That trail is dope. Just got back from all day riding yesterday. Definitely worth going on minus the powdery soft dirt on truffle pig
Nice touch at the end feeling the flowers 🌻
Great riding dude!! I did another adventure with Joe W last Fri doing 2 new killer trails to show you 👊💯
Does dodge ridge offer any chunky trails, or are all the trails more flowy and/or jump trails?
@@outlawburgerontheloose it's mostly chunky loose tech. Check out rippy bobby, tabula rasa, and third degree berms. They're supposed to open one more but not sure what it will be yet. Subscribe to see all the new trails on the day that they open.
looks doable on a trail bike ya?
@@jayfil2323 yeah, I plan on taking my hardtail next time.
Thanks for the video! Looks like fun . I love dodge ridge so much more chill than Northstar.
Nice dude, I'm loving the effort that Dodge Ridge is putting into mountain biking. 6 trails so far
Look out for number 7 possibly next weekend. I know, I can't believe it either. Their trail crew must be using some sort of performance enhancing supplements. It's like they're rage-building trails faster than we can ride them.😂🤙
@@mathewbascom1811 Where is 7 going?
@@8584zender it's between truffle pig and 3rd degree. Double black diamond called rat salad. Just open for the ca enduro race
Great video! I always look forward to your Dode Ridge trail beta.
Looks like fun! A little water to bed it in would be nice.
@@DISABLED12-7 a lot of water 😆🤙 but yes still fun.
Making a Truffle Pig video this weekend? If so, please consider adding a few post lap thoughts... Thanks!
@@avs61758 you know it. I'll put something down in the description.
Bro you were riding stuff I couldn’t even walk, (after I wrecked hard on the first part with the wooden drop.)
Ouch, not the most forgiving spot to go down. Hope you're alright.
That's a Double Black? Why, because of soil conditions?? 😁🤣😂
Soil conditions definitely play a factor.😂 I'm not sure exactly how they grade these but it was about as fun and challenging as their other single black tech trail, maybe steeper in the top section. The only other thing I think it might be is the gap jump at the bottom cuz there's no b-line, you have to hit it, it's not huge though.
How is the gap jump at the bottom? Trail speed enough? Require much pop?
@@avs61758 it's not too big, a little pop for sure but it's pretty safe to case, not quite rollable though. And you'll want to give a couple cranks out of the last berm leading into it.
@@mathewbascom1811 Thanks for feedback. I enjoy your vids!
Miss hitting the trails out there with you bro…
Come on up when you get the chance bro. We can hit some newer stuff.
Trail looked like it could use some rain.
Dude that trail looks amazing 😮. So jealous right now lol 🤟
Is Dodge planning any more new trails ?
They're always working on a new trail. I've heard they have a target of 2 per year for the next several years.
🙌🏼
Always first with latest offerings frome Dodge. Well done!🤘😎🤘
Thank you sir, I try my best.
What makes this a double black? Steepness and rough terrain?
Yeah most likely. I'm not sure exactly what criteria they use to grade them. It seemed similar to their single black, maybe a bit rockier and slightly steeper in the top section.
@@mathewbascom1811yea rode it today, definitely not a beginner trail but it's a good solid black trail
I rode it Sunday, super steep, no traction, very lose, some sections I decided to try to walk and ended up sliding on my ass down the hill.
Hey Mathew, are the new runs good? I've only been to Dodge the very first year. Is it worth the drive (EastBay) now?
I'd say so, met a guy from San Jose today who said he couldn't wait to come back.
@@mathewbascom1811 awesome!!! Now to find time to go there. Thanks for the video.
I'm from East-Bay/Tri-Valley area, and the drive is definitely worth it. Looking forward to riding this new trail sometime this year!!!
What did think?
Latin lives today!
Hit me up brother get one last ride before weather doesn’t allow us
Now I see what happened at 0:35 from your perspective haha
Yeah I was skidding straight into the trees, and thank god your brakes are better than mine.🙏🤣
Nice vid. Looks like a neat trail. I like how it has a good mix of terrain and features. Your favorite is leaves and pine needles over hero dirt… mine is leaves and squashed berries that fill your treads and leave you with little to no traction. On the steepest parts. 🎉
Thanks Vicki, it's definitely a mix of everything. I feel like it should be more popular for what it is. But most people just want to do the DH shuttle type stuff when they come up.
Nice ride
Thanks and thanks for the sub, I subbed back.🤙
My new favorite 😍
Looking fun!!
Dirt looks insane!
It was pretty sweet. Slippery on some spots, tacky in others, and deep brown pow when you're right under the trees lol.
One great thing about the wet days is that there is never a lineup at the chairlift! Awesome video, great despite the foggy conditions!
The fog was a very rare treat for us here in the dry central CA Sierras. I can almost convince myself this is in Washington or the UK. 🤙
do you know when the whole trail will be finished?
I couldn't really tell from looking at it yesterday. But I know it'll be a while, they still have some digging to do.
It’s done now, they added to huge tables at the end of the trail rode it last weekend, super fun.
@@jakegreer8237 not quite done. The trail will go further down through the woods and pop out by the chairlift. It's still only about halfway there.
👊🏼
Great video! Do you know if there is a way to pedal from Pinecrest campground? Or drive part of the way? Going to try and ride this weekend for 1st time
If you can, get a hold of me on Facebook messenger but I can't post directions here.
@@mathewbascom1811 are you on IG
Hey, do you have to cross any river or streams on this trail?
Yeah dude! It was fun riding with you again, lets run it back soon!
“I’m down…hey”😂😂😂 that kitty litter can get you!
What bike do you have?
I think it's a '15 or '16 YT tues cf.
🤘🤘🤘
🔥
I just finished riding there about 3 hrs ago! My 150/135 trail bike felt just fine on it. A lower 2nd half section has been added where your stopped. Another 2-3 minutes maybe but a lot rockier which is a change up. Another thing is this trail is loose moon dust the entire time which the video doesn't really capture. Next year it should be packed down more solid but this year, laps on Ridge trail are the best you can get at Dodge.
I was there today as well. And yeah they just opened that extra part of the blue trail. Did you happen to see the jump line on the right side of the chair? Next year is going to be exciting.
@@mathewbascom1811 no I missed it! Is that the next trail they're opening, the "freeride" blue trail? Or is the jump line something else?
@@timclopp not exactly sure but it probably is the freeride trail. It had some nice tables from what I could see and 5 or 6 foot berms.
Overall... recommended or no? Nice video man!
It'll definitely be a recommend for next year. They're working on more difficult lines as we speak.
Nicely done!!
Nice video👌🏾 the dirt on the trail was so nice this weekend
when you say "definitely technical" did you mean to say "i should have brought my xc bike"? Seems like a flow trail. then again, the gopro flat effect can do wonders for steep terrain. Not a lot of chunk though. Just scoping something out that my kids can do. Thanks for the video!
Yeah there's a lot of stuff that was hard to pump with the sled but it's my only bike atm. But the green trail is perfect for kids, smooth and wide with nice easy berms the whole way down.
Watching this video that was my exact thought. My Enduro looks like too much bike for that, much less a DH rig with dual crowns...
Epic ride brother… next time lets rollout earlier… 🔫🚵🏼♂️ do some other activities too…
Ouch
