YOU GUYS HAD IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME- I cued up the tape .i took a good look at all the scenes with the female scientist( Dr Jones) on the plane in 1996 looked THE EXACT SAME AGE AS IN 2035.If she was in her 60s or 70s in the future she had to be in her 30s in 1996. She did NOT look 30ish. wayy too many wrinkles. 2035 is 39 years after 1996! So because of this- its quite clear- Dr Jones was in fact a timetraveler and her " insurance " was merely a lie-( this is a common job title for frequent flyers) she acted normal to keep track of the Drs Peters. By the end of the story( thanks to Coles phone call) the scientists had 40 years to analyze the audio recording and knew then it was NOT the army of the 12 monkeys.... so the Drs Peters- who as Dr Goines assistant was clearly the next logical step ( i mean who else could it be who gets their hands of this? Once the 12 monkeys was ruled out, either it was Dr Goines or Dr Peters. Process of elimination. they could have analyzed old 1996 camera footage in the airport spotting Peters, Any 2nd rate detective could have figured this out- where theres smoke- theres fire- So it was simple- the Dr Jones volunteered to timestraveled to the airport.. waiting for the dr peters to board the plane with the virus. sit next to him. ...then she could get a pure sample of the virus ( maybe allowing herself to BE infected with the original strain so she be sent back to the future in quarantine- ( sacrificing herself possibly) as a guinea pig and allowing future drs to analyze her blood in order to cure it all variants . All she had to do was wait until she got off the plane when nobody was looking and go back in time. The end. Good guys win. Humanity is saved finally.

I just finish the 2 hours movies, and I didn't expect so many different explanation to the ending..... For me everything else is understandable, until the insurance agent(future science leader) appear on the plane

The greatest weakness for this show is wokeness. Hiring woke writers, woke directors and making DEI part of middle earth literally turned away the vast majority of the fan base.

the world and lore is so great, I get why this is hard... but GoT has a lot going on (no, not as much) but the show was just written better (in the earlier seasons). Amazon spent SO MUCH MONEY on the rights & the show for it to be so mediocre at best.

It was nice to hear a positive review of this show. The first season was a bit meh, but I loved this one. It’s been living rent free in my head as well!

She's in insurance to get a pure sample of the virus, but in doing so can't stop the outbreak and in a way the outbreak has to happen even if it costs 5 billion lives. It's so the people in the future can get a cure for the virus to get back on the surface again. Even if their own time travel workings were events that led to the outbreak in the first place, with the whole Cassandra Complex. They suggest even the Bible was influenced by a time traveller with the 7 Vials in The Book of Revelation being the 7 virus containers that unleash the apocalypse.

pretty sure the insurance agent thing was Terry being poetic and classy as James was DECEIVED by the scientists into insuring that the ponytail rogue scientist would be able to release the virus which insures the very beginning of the film and the story itself. if he had killed the guy before meeting the scientist on he plane.....it would contradict James even having gone back I'm pretty sure...

Not to state the obvious, but Dr Peter is infected.. so now the so called younger version in now infected.. and lives another 30 years into the future, that is some virus.. Also.. don't you notice what she does at end... she intentionally give him her glass (virus sample 1) and then goes out of her way to shake his hand.. (virus sample 2). I mean.. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion above.. all this is belatedly obvious..! And not to that guy, but its written in the script who they are, its the Astrophysicist, Jones.

Lady insurance is part of the virus. She is also part of the future to make sure everything stays like it is.

I disagree with this idea. The beginning of the movie establishes where they came up with the idea of the Army of the 12 Monkeys. Cole is on the surface exploring and comes across the symbol and "We Did It" under the symbol. The Scientists researched the information the best they could around this movement. The movie also establishes that others have already made the trip through time so Cole is not a one-off. There may be even people from the future that found a way to stay in the past(The homeless guy without teeth and the preacher). I believe call made by Cole was the last piece the scientists needed. The female scientist went back b/c she had the understanding to learn about the pure virus and take that information back to the future. The female Scientist killing the man would not stop the virus now since is was already released in the airport. But she could get a sample(Which we'll never see), find out how it works in the past timeline before being pulled back into the future to create a cure. But then you could say she could have come up with a cure in the past timeline and stopping the virus thus altering the future. Plus, an insurance agent and people like her aren't going to be able to build a time machine no matter how much time you give them. Only top scientists are going to be able even conceive the idea on how to build one and somehow navigate through time.

The lady on the plane has travelled through time to collect the virus in its pure form, now that James has identified the culprit. She's called the astrophysicist in the original script. She's humanity's insurance. She certainly hasn't come back to try and stop the outbreak, as the film has already (repeatedly) established it's one immutable timeline premise.

I really believe the quote “I’m insurance” is a plan B for stopping the spread of the virus.Maybe James Cole’s mission was find the the origin of the virus.The doctor on the plane’s mission was to stop the pandemic before it started.The James Cole of the future had to die in the airport.When the pandemic doesn’t happen,that version of James Coles doesn’t exist.That’s why you see young James Cole with his parents at the airport.It would be like stopping 9/11 before it starts.Everything changes.The casualties go on to live normal lives. No Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). No casualties from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.George W.Bush is one term President.That’s my theory.🤔

Overall a slower season and definitely a build up for season 3 and 4. I think they realized this show could’ve ended in maybe two seasons with 12 episodes…but come on it’s a business 😂
