Chased after some Bass on a local farm pond with Hunter Pittman. We were using fly rods and Hunter managed to catch a nice one of about 8 lbs.

Went out with Hunter Pittman of Unicoi Outfitters to check out his new Big Shoals Raft from SmithFly. This raft comfortably seats three people and is a blast to fish out of. And it weighs in at around 130 lbs.
North Georgia Wild Trout w/ Hunter Pittman

Fly fishing a small north Georgia blue line stream for wild trout is as pure as it gets. And Hunter Pittman from Unicoi Outfitters is about as good as it gets when it comes to fishing small streams. It's always a pleasure to watch him fish. And when he catches a true north Georgia monster trout it makes it an unforgettable experience.

    Can't help but wonder how many people have watch this, then spent countless hours trying to find that spot. What a fish!

    Really enjoyed this video. Post more. But, what’s a pro-life hunter? Catch and release?

    I saw but could not catch a huge trout in a similar looking stream below a small waterfall. I think it was an escapee from Waters Creek which flowed into the creek upstream from where I was fishing. Biggest trout I ever saw in the mountains except for in Waters Creek where I only fished once because I found out the State feeds them trout pellets and the favored fly was a bit of cork made up to look like one of those floating pellets. If I want that type of fishing I'd go to Rainbow Ranch...if that place is still open (this was in the 80's)

    Awesome video! I’m headed to North GA in two weeks to film a documentary , can’t wait to try and find some water like this. Any good recommendations? For water near LaGrange?

    I enjoy watching this more each time I watch it and learn the art of fly fishing. I spent a day on Noontootla this week during my anniversary trip. Loved it

    Sorry, but there would not be a day where I experienced a “Watch this- hold my beer” day where I was relegated to only filming someone else catching trout. Perhaps this was a promo for Unicom Outfitters.

      It's no promotional video. In fact Hunter no longer works for Unicoi. I fish some when we go out together. But I'm his Dad and get more enjoyment out of watching him do his thing on the water. Two weeks ago I watched him pull eight out of the SOHO in one hour. And nobody else on the water caught a fish during that time. And there was several using minnows and worms. Thanks for watching.

    Any other guides for recommendations if Hunter is no longer living here? It was a joy to see his fishing skill level.

      I don't know of anyone who does the guided trips for wild trout like Hunter did a lot of. But Unicoi has several good guides for private waters up that way. Good Luck.

    Wow! Awesome fish! I just caught a 22 incher last week in Tennessee but didn't weight anywhere near 8 lbs. That one has been eating good!

    This is inspiring. Any advice on how to search out some solid streams for wild trout? Or is it just trial and error?

    • @liveletfly5790
      @liveletfly5790 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A great place to start in Georgia are the streams that have special regulations for artificial only and/or catch and release. I recommend Noontootla Creek and Jones on the west side. The Chattahoochee WMA above Helen (see my video on the gorge). On the east side there is not many artificial only streams but plenty of unfished water. A great trick is to search for Jeep trails in North Georgia. Almost all of them run along side and through beautiful streams with wild trout. They are a precious resource so please practice catch and release. There are plenty of stockers to catch if you want to eat some. Have fun

    Pond bass are the best. I miss having access to one. Used to catch 9 pounders like once a year. Now I don't even go bass fishing anymore. Moved to the north part of the state and have no acecess to ponds now. Treasure what you have there.

    Dude, I think epic is one of the most over used words out there but I'm giving it to ya. That was pretty outstanding. Is it hard to find a place to fish or is there good access to the stream?

    • @liveletfly5790
      @liveletfly5790 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the stream is through private land with very little public water. And there are lots of cabins that you can rent on stretches where the owners feed them. This was obviously a pellet fed fish. But she battled like a wild one. She had been hooked before and had a lot of tricks

    I was just there this last weekend. The WMA was kind to me. 6 decent fish in the 4 hours I spend up there between Saturday evening + Sunday morning. Unicoi outfitters told me the lightning bug nymph was working so I got myself one. Caught me the biggest fish of the trip.
