Carburetor Replacement on Generac 4000XL 7.8 HP Generator
มุมมอง 7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I will show you how to replace a carburetor on a Generac 4000XL 7.8 HP Generator. I had previously disassembled and cleaned the carburetor with no improved results. Here's the link on Amazon to the parts I used. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DNN27LK/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=roadrunnerwor-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B08DNN27LK&linkId=e96a945db278290b953c47f8655340fe
You do not need to trim the orange choke knob. It will simply pull off and you can slide it back on after the lever is put through the air filter cover
Will it leak if the gaskets are switched?
Good morning Fairveiw...Good video but I have a question. How did you get the air hose reconnected to the nipple on the back of the box...??I appreciate any help.
Great video! helped me take off the carburetor for cleaning. You do not have to trim the red knob, you can pull / pry it off the flat lever with a flat blade screw driver and install it back easily.
Does not have clearance for ratchet/socket to remove spark plug? How do you do it? I took the gas tank and cover under it off.
Try a spark plug socket, they have a thinner wall. Is the red metal cover in the way? Or the valve cover?
@@fairviewworkshop2229 red metal cover?
Use a proper spark plug socket, these plugs are smaller than the usual size. Place the socket on the plug 1st, (without the ratchet), push it down into place. Your ratchet should now just fit. If not, use an open end wrench on the socket to loosen the plug. If using the ratchet, don’t unscrew the plug all the way, the plug reach is long, & as it moves the ratchet up, you won’t be able to remove the ratchet. Just loosen it, then remove ratchet, & undo plug by hand.
Someone must of been in mine. Air filter housing bolt missing and arm/spring not on throttle arm hole like yours.
Do you know what bolt it is in the video? Let me know and I can give you the dimensions of the bolt in a few days. Then look at your local hardware store for a replacement. Are you referring to the arm on the carburetor?
@@fairviewworkshop2229 the 8mm bolt. Yes the arm on carb where governor arm and spring connect.
Hello - i just received a 4000 exl from my mother yesterday and I am trying to change the oil on it as it has been sitting for multiple years in a barn, but i cant find any videos on an oil change for these older generators. Would you happen to know what oil filter it would be or where the nut is to release the oil from? i know the 4000 XL and EXL are similar and they have actual oil files. my email is tjjc27@yahoo.com - thank you if you can help. i just ordered these parts for the carburetor. thanks TJ
I don't have my generator with me at the moment. If you don't mind waiting about a week, I will look what oil filter I have on it. As for the oil drain, it will be a metal threaded plug on the lowest part of the engine (near the oil fill, which is a yellow plastic threaded plug). I hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them the best I can.
@@fairviewworkshop2229 that’s awesome. I found it. It was caked on with dirt. It’s amazing what this community can do for people like me not knowing anything about generators. Thank you for the direction.
@@tjjc27 Glad I could help, you're welcome!
Great video .
Glad you enjoyed it!
