Installing hydroturf on a brand new gator tail for a buddy's dad. This is a brand new boat that hasn't touched the water yet! Couldn't film as much as I would have liked for this video so the how to only shows the install on the front deck (which is the hardest part)

Nice job. How do you think having only two rear motors (250W each) with swivel front wheels would work?
@@JamesConheady-p9w I think it would work fine as long as you have a level yard. I put four being I have a big slope in my yard.
Very nice build! What is the weight of the mower after the build and what power are your motors? Cheers!
250w 24v 120rpm. Makes .8 nm of torque. I never weighed it but it is definitely heavy.
Song name please

Super cool project! Were there any other cheaper motor alternatives you were considering? I was thinking about building something similar, but adding in an IMU to try to give it paths to follow, making it semi autonomous :D
@@AdrianneGutman if my yard was flat it would have been a lot cheaper to go with two motors and swiveling wheels in the front but I needed the 4wd. Unfortunately for the torque I was looking for I didn’t find many other option’s cheaper.
@ thanks for the insight! I’ll keep that in mind with my project too
Would it have been more cost effective to use two mowers and a track Instead of 4 motors ?
@@BigORider the price of two motors vs the price of everything to make tracks were was cheaper.
I'd fill the tires with rv anti freeze put so weight in the tires.
what is the model of the cutter?
@@Slingshotman0 Husqvarna HU725AWDEX (22″). But I believe it’s discontinued it’s an old mower.

what kind of model would you suggest?
@@Slingshotman0 don’t matter to much as long as it’s got a good running engine. You take everything else off.
@@Slingshotman0 Husqvarna mower are very good. I own one and it cuts well, and no, it's not for sale 😂
Wow 4 motors this is a great idea. What connector adapters did you use to connect the motors to the motor driver? Or did you just cut it off? Also where did you get the materials to attach the wheels (nuts and that black circle thing in the center of the wheel)? Where did you get the rims? They look like harbor freight rims.
@@CalenMac rims came from northern tool, black adapter is 3d printed (file from TH-camr @tool_time). Regular nuts and bolts from hardware store and the wires I cut and wired into the controller.
What lawn mower?
Hi; do you start the mower engine with the remote control?
@@ahmtsgr no I still pull start it.
Can you please post measurements for the bracket. Maybe a picture with measurements will be great
Very good.. i try to built this later.. Do u install alternator for chaging battery? if not how long battery could last?
i was planning on adding one but i am able to cut my yard 3 times without charging the battery's. so i decided to not add one being it makes it that long without needing a charge.
Hello, can you send me the 3D model or dxf in inscape or fusion from the part that hold the motors?
I tried to upload a file but it didn't work i will try again though
Don’t even need the truck lol
Nah there was enough for the boat to run in 😂

I see where you got the tires but where did you get the rims?
@@karlnone8422 cheapest place I found them was northern tool. It’s a two piece 4 inch rim.
Yes I among others would really like to see the wiring video. That’s looks like an awesome build and it has inspired me to build one myself. Thanks for posting the build video
Coming soon!
Yes Sir that's nice looking good job.
Thanks 👍
Thinking on using a riding mower deck 46" maybe build a little frame wheels and radio stuff. then bolt deck to it or Bolt to deck wheels radio stuff . Not sure just seeing what sticks to wall when I throw it. . Really what junk I can dig up out building around house.
would be nice to have a big deck. i don't think it would be to hard. hardest part would be mounting the motor to turn the blades
Cool. Not bad at all.

How many sheets did you use for whole boat?
3 sheets for a 18/48.
Awesome. I am waiting for my motors at the moment, the other stuff is waiting at my workbench
Nice man lmk if I can help with anything
Feeling very inspired to build one of these. I already have the mower and the remote control. However, how do you rhink this would do in 2ft tall dead/dry grass? When i use my push mower it works, but would this enough power and weight to push itself through it? I live in CA central valley, and all our grass grows, thsn dies in summer like a savanna.
It definitely would have enough power to push through it but would need to be raised all the way up to knock it down then lowered for a second pass afterwards. The bayou side got around that tall and I was able to get it done. These electric motors have a lot of torque you can try to stop it with your hands but you won’t be able to stop it.
Yes please a in depth how to for the electrical, set up the remote, etc.
I should be able to do that soon.
@@sethsapia4060 how do you think this would do in 2ft bone dry grass?
@@brandonforesee3593 it would do fine as long as you raise the ride height. I’ve cut the bayou side at that height already. Just took two passes.
Great Thanks GIVE US MORE!
Appreciate it. I’ll definitely try to get some more videos made!
nice build! why you use 2 smart drive controllers?
Thanks man and to have true 4x4 with one smart drive the wheel spin would be sent to the tire with least resistance and only spin one of the two tied in.
OK, my mower work perfectly with one
Yeah I may try one my yard just has a big slope and some hills and stuff so I figured I’d get stuck more often with just one. One may even be better I haven’t tried it but i might.
Hey, good job. About the two Motor Controllers, mine works perfectly with one. So you might can use one of them, for your next Mower Project😊
Nice project Seth. What wheels did you use? I see the motors are rated 120 RPM, would you change the RPM if you could, or stick with the 120 RPM? Would you change the size of the wheels or tires? Do you plan to add any more controls, like gyros, accelerometer, GPS, or combined as a IMU? Thanks!
I like the rpm the higher speed is nice when your just traveling can’t cut at full speed unless the grass isn’t crazy tall. But I noticed the 120rpm is out of stock now and they only have 75rpm available. Might do some upgrades in the future was thing fpv setup. GPS would be hard with the big slope in my yard but you never know.
Also the wheels came from northern tool 4 inch 2 piece rim.
Nice…. Definitely like the way you kept it small. I also made one but, not 4x4 and I think I’m going to rebuild mine… nice job…
Appreciate it

I can live feed with the GoPro but the feed is blurry might look into some googles so I can mow from the couch 😂
@sethsapia4060 That's what I'm talking about! Sit in the air and have a beer while you mow.
What is the rated rpm of the motors you're using?
24v 250 watt 120 rpm wheelchair motors.
@sethsapia4060 are you running them on 24v? I was thinking of buying 75 rpm motors, but now I'm thinking maybe 120 rpm might be better if you can set two speeds like you stated in the other comment. Do you set two speeds in the motor controller? Thanks
Yes I’m running 24v. Theoretically if it was 12v it would be pretty much half the speed at 60rpm. I’m running two 12v 30ah batteries after cutting everything I still have 65% battery life. The speed settings I have are through the remote control I have a 60% setting and a 100% setting.
What kind of hubs and rims did you get?
@@jlustig83 type “4 inch split rims” on google cheapest place I found them was northern tool.
Very good! I build one too, very similar to yours, but mine is slower and i used 18v makita batteries.
I was thinking of doing something similar. My idea was to use 3 Kobalt 24v 4ah batteries in parallel.
I have two modes set. Normally don’t cut that fast but grass wasn’t crazy tall and for the video I just went faster.
I like that you kept the height adjustment mechanisms. Other similar builds hard mounted the motors, which don't allow height adjustment. Did you 3d print the wheel hubs? Would you share your cad file for the motor mount?
There is a mention in the video but the file came from a TH-camr named tool_time. I’ll see if I can comment a link of the file here.
@sethsapia4060 I've watched tool_time's video, and the STL file is linked on it for the hubs. Will you share your CAD file for the mounting bracket?
