And I am still the only one to comment on this video. Again, Brilliant! Performed with passion and gusto If anyone involved with this reads my comment, do please get in touch. I contacted the pub some time back but haven't had a reply. I realise anything could have happened in the now 11 years since this was posted, but I live in hope! The whole video takes me back to sessions I took part in 30 years or more ago where singing was as big or even bigger than tunes. I'd love to join in a session like this post Covid.

This studio recording made as requested for a collective CD which benefits a non profit folk and blues music site. I first gained the permission of Phyl Loebel who set the poem to the tune you hear me singing. As I was not filmed, I made a montage of women's struggles to give the listener something to view as well as listen to. For this poem is surely about a woman's suffering and hard scrabbling for survival and grief and loss, the latter of which I am no stranger to, having lost both daughters to illness.

The talking guys COULD HAVE SHUT UP and listen. Grrrrrhh,, that's what I really despise when singing myself at the parties: not everybody has the manners to just SHUT UP for a moment. Kudos to the singer for overcoming them with her great voice!

@CroArtVandelay Thank you. She does have a phenomenal voice. I think the noisy pub setting really highlights it. She usually shuts the pub up, but I think that was her 3rd or 4th song and it was getting toward the end of the session when the novelty of us singing in the corner had warn off. Quite probably the telly and football was on by that point as well.

It's obviously a pub,but I'd like to hear it without the background noise of drunks,great voice and a pretty girl,make a proper video!

I've never heard a better performance of this song anywhere.
