Buttons and Bugs is a solid little game which introduces you slowly into harder and harder scenarios that can mostly be played out in 20 - 30 minutes. The figures are tiny but very well made. Make sure you bend the scenarios deck cards flat though as it is difficult to keep your characters in their hexes otherwise. if you enjoy painting miniatures for Warhammer or any other wargame you'll like the challenge of paining the characters, which makes it feel more finished, in my view.

I love that you are getting rid of games that I kinda feel pressured to add to my collection because of other reviews and yet something makes me hesitate... and here you are getting rid of them (specifically Woodcraft & Robinson Crusoe). Happy now to stick with my niche and start getting rid of games.

I really want to like Darwin's Journey - and am holding out hope that an expansion in the future will improve the solo AI, if it doesn't then it will leave my collection.

A bit further out, but Elf ‘n Moon, a new game store in the Fountain Square area, will be open 24 hrs a day all week starting Monday and have open tables for gaming.

I’m not a Catalan speaker but I studied in Barcelona years ago and from what I remember it’s pronounced closer to “paw sage de gracia” :) Either way not sure I’ll pick up the expansion since Barcelona already takes a while to set up and is a point salad as you mentioned. Maybe after a few more plays I’ll get the itch :)

I'm also excited about Beacon Patrol: Ships & Shores and Ancient Knowledge: Heritage! Beacon Patrol I'm terrible at but I think it's a lot of fun and Ancient Knowledge I've actually bought (second hand market) only because I'd read this solo expansion was coming out. Hopefully it's good!

Pampero is fun to play solo because the bot is very quick to play out. Just to note, the solo mode doesn't take into account expansions atm. Adding in the expansions will make it easier to beat the AI.

Fromage was being assembled as of July 1st, still no update on shipping from KS. But usually companies ship boxes direct from China to conventions if they are ready to go. Though maybe they won't if the KS isn't even close to being fulfilled. But surely they'll have a demo. Windmill Valley just arrived at a US port today July 19! I checked this morning. You got me curious about Reef Project, thanks.

Never been to Gen Con but plan to go this year. Do you need to pre-register for a game or sign up when you arrive? Also a lot of talk about board games but I assume they have rpgs too like D&D right?

I completely agree that Food Chain Island feels like that like cracker barrel game! haha Very fun game, as are a bunch of button shy!

Hey, bro. I'm not a euro gamer, nor abstract stuff. I'm kinda tired of long setups and brainburners. What can you suggest? I like card/dice based games, if both the best. I'm someone who really appreciate a well implemented theme in the mechanics.

Luckily I've got a buddy to play this game with but we are taking so long with the campaign due to scheduling challenges that I've decided I will be doing the expansions solo.

Do you know if it possible to get the GenCon 2024 Catalog prior to the Convention? Like a week or two prior to the Convention. You mentioned that it can be picked up at Will Call on the Wednesday before, but I'd like to see it sooner if possible.

I just got this game recently, fantastic gameplay and easy to learn. I played it last night with one of my brothers who doesn't even like playing board games like that and wanted to play a second time in a row. Priceless 🎉

Hi there ! Harmony is really a charming game, BUT, with a really poor solo out of the box (beat your own score is really the worst a solo mode can offer imho) Fortunatly some Fan on BGG made some "scenarios" using all the cards of the game and bring some challenges and a clear score to beat for each of them. (it feels more like what cascadia and calico are proposing for solo and it's way better than a BYOS) Overall Harmony is a nice familly / relax to play / game that will do well and with a great looking presence on the table. That said, and as you mentionned, the cards quality is really quite poor and the bag isn't the strongest. For people who don't have Cascadia nor Calico, or get a bit tired of them, you might wanna gave Harmony a shot. Not the best, not the worst. And if you're looking for a nice little "same vibe" sort of familly relaxing game, i suggest to have a look at the lovely and fast paced "LOCO MOMO" (which is sort of a "collection/draft/tiling" game) Cheers from belgium

You mention that when playing Cascadia (base game), you are really only concerned with the animals. However, I have found that when it comes to tallying points, players are generally tied on animal points and it almost always comes down to habitat points to decide the winner.

Hi, I have found that you've ben confused with "line of sights". North and south hawk have no line of sight(LoS). Because LoS should be perpendicular to the tile side. If the south hawk tile be one-step to the left - there will be LoS (or two steps to the right, but then hawk card requirements will work as 0 poits for all your hawks)

Love the vid, thanks, and I feel the same way about Crusoe, and mine is currently on sale. I should mention, though.... It's "Crew-SO", not "Ca-roo-so" ... I hate to be like that, but my wife does the same thing, and it kills me >_<

I'm glad you found the rulebook good (I wrote it) 🙂 We are currently 6 session in - playing with 3 players. Each planet takes us about 90-120 mins to play, with the Ship Phase about another 45 mins. If you've only done a couple of planetary landings... oh my... you have so much else to discover. The game for us really opened up after about 3 planets. We now have a ton of equipment, lots of crewmembers, etc. And the story... wow.
