MIC Drops with Elwin Green
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 ก.ย. 2024
Monologues, Interviews and Conversations, with Elwin Green. Who's Elwin Green? A 72-year-old man in Pittsburgh, PA (Boomer), born and raised in Louisville, KY (Southerner). A believer in Jesus Christ. A Vietnam era vet whose orders for Nam were rescinded and who wound up chilling in Okinawa for 18 months - making me perpetually grateful. A human who believes that every human possesses incalculable dignity. And perhaps most important for podcasting - a deeply curious cat. Expect 1-on-1 interviews and multiparty conversations with fascinating people, about #politics, #neuroscience, #communitydevelopment, and #community itself - and on a fun day maybe cheap '50s #scifi or '70s #horror. Goal #1 is to have fun while learning. Goal #2 is to help viewers/listeners have fun while learning. Then comes stuff like making $$$$$ and changing the world.

EPISODE 010: Is Kamala Harris Preparing To #StopTheSteal?
มุมมอง 1812 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Within 24 hours of Election Day, Kamala Harris did what every losing presidential candidate but one has done: she conceded. Now, a week later, it appears that she has not completely surrendered the fight, but that her campaign is moving the fight to another arena: they are diverting funds to a recount account. Here, I lay out some reasons why a recount might make sense. #election2024 #kamalahar...
EPISODE 008: A Tribute To John Amos
มุมมอง 6514 วันที่ผ่านมา
On October 1, the world learned that John Amos, most well known as James Evans on the Norman Lear sitcom "Good Times," had died at the age of 84. I had just announced, in Episode 007 of "Mic Drops," my intention to devote the month of October to politics. But I thought that Mr. Amos deserved a tribute, and started putting one together. A better Elwin would have knocked it out in a few hours, th...

In this episode, I have a conversation with Lionel Harris, sole surviving son of the legendary photographer Charles "Teenie" Harris; his lifelong friend Tony Williams; and Melissa McSwigan of Preservation Pittsburgh - all in anticipation of the unveiling of a state historical marker in front of Teenie Harris's longtime home, which will happen on Sept. 24, 2024. #teenieharris #pittsburghcourier ...

HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM At about the 11:00 mark, I intended to share a clip of #kamalaharris speaking at a National Association of Black Journalists event in Philadelphia. Now that I've posted this, I see that you can't see OR hear that clip. When I learn more about editing video, I will probably come back to this episode and fix that. In the meantime, please deploy this solution: when you r...

EPISODE 001: Introducing MIC Drops; Two Things I Know (And One Thing I Believe) About You
มุมมอง 262 หลายเดือนก่อน
Welcome to MIC Drops: Monologues, Interviews & Conversations hosted by yours truly! The overall theme of this podcast is, "helping you to live more fully in an improving world." That could change later, but that's what it is for now. This episode introduces the podcast and tells you a little about myself before diving into the topic, "Two Things I Know (And One Thing I Believe) About You." I ho...
Prior to your video I thought there was no basis for a recount. She lost fair & square. But Reason 3 convinced me that she *must* recount! (And Reason 5, well, it cannot be stated enough!)
@@GregOWastesHisLife absolutely agree re #5 - that could have been an entire video by itself. I am continually astonished by people's continuing failure - or *refusal* - to simply acknowledge who he is, and to take that into consideration.
Congratulations on your motivation
Thanks! Appreciate you!!
I really love how you were transparent about how you feel regarding this. Even for myself it was a lot to take in. I care about you more then the president elect and got you in prayer bro
I appreciate that. I probably should have said something about passports and second citizenships. Maybe we can explore those topics?
Making a plan. Being prepared. All good advice. I don't think I could handle a podcast about anyone's descent into dementia. I believe that would make my heightened state even more heightened. As you said progressives are already excellent at scaring themselves to death. Don't need to add more fuel to those fears. The book recommendations sound great. Also loved your advice to pick only one or two battles to wage. Prevents overwhelm. Which one (or two) battles will you be focusing on going forward?
Dont know yet, bc I haven't read Project 2025 yet. I'll share along the way.
Remember, you’re my inspiration for the videos
Thank you so much! Episode 9 is up!!
Welcome, welcome welcome and hello to you, my friend
Is there a merch store? I'd like to buy a Green Team shirt, or 6.
No merch store (YET) - but the T-shirt is actually a memento from being on the Green Team in a Dragonboat race - a ton of fun!
Amazing job bro!!!!
I don’t know too much about the Bible. I did get baptized and do my communion, but I have been watching Netflix, the Moses 10 Commandments lately. 🙏
Politics right now it’s definitely a hot topic
Welcome, welcome welcome
What a great idea to convert the home into a museum and training center! Good job 👍
