A great racehorse yes, but not as famous as Red Rom, Desert Orchid, or Shergar to me.Especially Shergar. Nothing creates more fame than vanishing off the face of the earth.

Did he have a broadcast of his birthday nationwide? Did he have his face on a beer brand that remains to this day though generalized? Did he have a public funeral, buried whole in full-sized coffin, and have some 2000 funeral visitors? Who is the most famous again?

Fabulous history - thank you for sharing it with us. I watch him to feel better when things seem impossible. It's lovely to see him doing normal horse things, eating his grass, just being a normal horse. He is the greatest work of art. He is the perfect horse. He seemed playful and fun as well, ALONG WITH BEING THE GREATEST RACEHORSE IN HISTORY. I wish he was still here. Even 50 years later, it's like it was yesterday. I was only 5 when he made history, but now I know enough to enjoy the most beautiful creature that ever lived. No doubt he was God's special project. There will never BE ANOTHER.

I bought a 1982 Kawasaki 1100 Spectre my senior year in high school. It was maroon. I wish I had it today, it was a great bike.Traded it for a Kawasaki 750 ninja in 1988. A friend of mine bought the 83 Spectre. We had the only 2 in town.

Your title is misleading. Secretariat was one of the best, not the best.

Those planes were purchased during the Clinton scare of armed citizens and ' militias'. After all, Clintons were raiding people with a few cases of MREs claiming ' food hoarding'. This was during the time Bill Ruger wrote the magazine ban for them and helped the Clintons with the semi auto and import ban. I buy no Ruger products.

Almost 51 years later, and the most of his records still stand. I was a 16 year old when I saw Secretariat win the Triple Crown. My dad bet me $50 double or nothing that Secretariat would not win the Belmont. Dad paid me $100. I have all of the magazines that Secretariat is on the covers of before the Belmont----Time, Sports Illustrated, and Newsweek. He was the GOAT indeed. (Jan Griffiths).

Am I the only one who thinks all breeding stallions would benefit from being ridden 3 or 4 days a week to keep them muscled up and not bored ? It would give them something to look forward to. I’m sure any of Secretariat’s exercise riders would have been honored with the “task” or getting him out. I know they were concerned about possible injuries out on the exercise track but truthfully, they can get injured in the paddocks too. Plus it may have kept his weight down and kept him from getting laminitis. Just a thought.

Great memories! I played with him several times at Claiborne. At 3:25-3:30 you see him pick up a stick, a favorite game of his. We played tug-of-war with one. He loved cameras, + decided when he wanted his picture taken. He even pretended to eat grass, to mess with his grooms or admirers. He was SO smart + fun. Everyone loved him. The horse with the bite cage was probably Hoist the Flag, great grandson of Man O War. He survived a bad injury, his paddock was close to Secretariat's.

Hello Sir, That's a wonderful resto you've done there. I have just bought an 82 model (black and maroon paint) but the gold "plating" has mostly worn off the engine casings - do you have any idea what this coating is and if it can be re-applied? Also, do you fill your shocks with air or nitrogen, this seems to be quite a controversial subject? Finally, I'd like to upgrade my light to LED like you have - is this a straightforward task? The greatest racehorse in history !! His records still stand after 50 years and the Belmont record will stand FOREVER!!😅😅😅 So glad I was alive to watch those races as a 17 year old !!! Nothing cheers me up more now then to watch them again!!!
