I'd say twice that you just need to add bords on your dump bed to hold it all
Filling up your wood “reservoir” again I see. EXCELLENT! 🫡👍
Always! GETTING WOD READY TO SEASON BEE A BUSY WEEK
@ I understand. I’m seasoning (drying) an entire Ash tree that a neighbor of mine asked me to cut down for them. I told them that I’d be more than happy to AS LONG AS I got to keep the wood seeing as how that’s my ONLY source of heat! It’s almost a 1/2 cord of firewood after I hand split it. It’s the 1st time that I ever had the opportunity to split Ash…it’s like butter and splits EXTREMELY nicely.
@@ToddAdams1234 one of my favorites to hand split

RSD, I’m living in an are that is CST (Central Standard Time). I’m assuming that you’re in a EST area. Is this correct AND can you tell me if you’ve ever been able to come up with a good time for you to have your “lives” on here? I like participating in those but without knowing when, then it’s difficult at best.
This was a video not a stream bubba Sunday afternoon is best I can give for live streams I get home at different times so can’t pin it down but 2 to 4 est seems to be more comon
@ I know it wasn’t a stream, it’s just the best way that I know to contact you since I’m “technologically illiterate”, but I’ve got no problems admitting to it. The funny part about that statement is that I’m the one that got my now deceased father into programming his computer.
@@ToddAdams1234 im horrible with tec and im trying this TH-cam thing lol
How are the carbide chains holding up in comparison to standard chain.
amazing pal with EXL full house I get a table cleared b4 it needs to be sharpened the carbide I can do 5 to 10 tables easy game changer for production not as fast cutting but tough

Great content! Thank you for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks amazing 💪🏻
surprisingly I'm very impressed with this little saw
RSD, what brand of bar is that you’re running on the 550? If I didn’t know that it’s really not supposed to be in the saw due to the oil hole not lining up, then at 1st glance it reminds me of a Stihl, but I’ve been wrong on more than 1 occasion.
its just the stock Husqvarna bar that the saw comes with new
@@RSDOutdoors I was mistaken, but thanks for the timely response. 👍
@@ToddAdams1234 no problem bud
i just bought a 372 and it didnt come with a bar or a chain, just wondering if yours did it shows one on the ad , waiting for an answer from farmac, great video thanks
Mine was just a power head but iv seen them come both ways probably depends on the price
How does that do in hardwood logs .. does it have problems splitting them
No issues at all best addition iv made is the carbide chain now it just keeps chugging away only have to stop for fuel or to reload the deck
You think you’re making it better but now the filter can get wet.
If is sprayed with filter oil like it should be no issues
Im on the fence about Road Range equipment. I just bought a new conveyor from them a couple months ago and luckily the dealer I bought it from was good to me because when it was brand new one of the couplers leaked (he sent a new coupler). Then, the wood kept getting hung up at the top of the conveyor breaking off several cleats of the chain so he sent a new chain assembly and to fix that I had to grind down the trough extension plates so they were beveled and now the wood slides right over them. Occasionally I'll get a piece that hits the tabs on the trough where they attach together making the chain jump a bit but before, just about every other piece would get hung up on those extensions because they were inside the trough creating kind of a lip for the wood to hit and bind up. Before those fixes I had the chain pop off the sprockets 3 or 4 times and twice it bound up so tight when it let loose the wood flew out like it was shot out and went about 40 yards into the neighbors property. They definitely have some design issues at least with their conveyors to address, hopefully your processor runs and works well.
It has had its rough times with the conveyer but it’s payed for itself 2x now so tinkering in it here and there doesn’t bother me much
Just a wonder but here in sweden we use something called safe corner, we only use the method you were doing on small trees
not shore what you mean no safe corners hear i take as much wood to prevent pulling fiber
Very cool. What exactly are you making?
just testing ATM but I'm gunna try hat patches like the one i wear
Cool sawmill
Was definitely impressed with the speed he was able to cut at
DEFINITELY!
Yes sir 🫡
Nice. I want to buy. A John Deere. 4044m or a 4052m. I just don’t know what’s so different they both are heavy
Honestly very similar the 4052m has a bit smaller displacement engine from the specs and a turbo were the 4044m bigger displacement but no turbo honestly all I wanted was a power reverser and standard transmission for pulling and loader work the old Deere I had had the hydrostatic transmission and was nice for quick change in direction but everything elts sucked it needed lower ranges and more road speeds
Nice soud
and great response its impressive but id like to try a ported next
Надо вальщика ему 😊
Excellent RSD. Weren’t you worried about the possibility of a barber chair?
No iv had some surprises but soft wood is so fast cutting I can usually keep the splitting down with some work on the stump
Tip. the Dewalt 12V extreme screw driver (non impact) with clutch makes quick work of saw disassembly & assembly. Its a good deal when its on sale for $99 with 2 lithium batteries and a charger. The clutch prevents cracking & breaking of plastic & stripping threads. The Milwaukee driver is good too. -Just sayin. I have rheumatoid arthritis and cordless tools are a blessing to me & have allowed me to keep fixing all my own stuff, from saws to rebuilding my truck's T5 transmission. Hey! Maybe instead of a fast saw contest, a couple of saw builders should have a contest on how fast they can strip a new saw down & reassemble it by hand vs a cordless driver. 😉
I love the 12v dewalt set I have them for this as well but battery time has come after many years of hard service. that's a great idea about a teardown test
Plating bubbles for the same reasons as paint. There are many. For example, the base aluminum wasn't properly cleaned, or the top plating often requires a base plating, like a paint primer to adhere to, and it wasn't applied or wasnt applied properly. They'll probably never reveal what the cause was. Of course, writing Hyway abd asking is an option.
iv played the game with highway they don't seem to care so until they fix it ill use other parts
@@RSDOutdoors I appreciate you letting me know. I was considering buying a hyway upper for my newly acquired 353 because they include flow improvements afforded by porting. Even though I've seen nothing online about their 45mm closed cylinder having bubbling plating I think I'll just clean up the original cylinder, buy a meteor piston, modify the muffler & save some money and a hassle.
@@Joe_Blo it’s not worth a headache at the moment to deal with highway which is unfortunate because they they had very good parts. I’ve ran them for years on many saws to save you. Some hassle meteors are great alternative
How are those pipes working? Where’d they come from?
Been great pal I made them last year and sold a ton on eBay
What a beautiful sound!!!
It really is! Great working with these tools everyday
🙌
RSD, I KNOW that I can’t sell my body , except for when I’m no longer breathing and then it’s for scientific research! BTW, I’m even subscribed to GP already.!
lol Good stuff he’s a great guy as well
That had to be some serious wedge banging when that trees got that much back lean! I can definitely tell that you were out of breath because of it too. Whew!
It was a good fight and can’t complain with the outcome
With your saws chains, do you file or grind, and is it round or square?
Round file some day I’ll grab a square grinder and give that a go
@@RSDOutdoors I just always wondered, but now I know. THX!!! BTW, I round file also because I’m not about to get a round grinder that’s going to do a substandard job I have ZERO interest in buying a square grinder that’s going to cost me more than all 4 of the saws that I own if they were showroom perfect (which they aren’t, and some are better).
Yeah I’ll get a square chain grinder in the future I’m sure but it’s a hard bullet to bite at the costs my Oragon grinder is great for the processor but I can file my felling chains sharper by hand
@@RSDOutdoors Me also well on all counts (except for the processing). I’m just a hand splitter type of individual, but I’m not running a business either.
@@ToddAdams1234 trying everyday
RSD, you’re a hilarious individual! 😂
Lol
Nice man, I do a lot of the same stuff w/ my tractor. Just a friendly FYI, I was pushing a tree over w/ my forks on and the tree took a side ways lean and slid along the fork. I couldn't back the tractor up fast enough and the tractor started to tip over. The only thing that saved me was the tree cleared the fork before the tractor reached a point of no return. Be careful out there.
Good stuff yeah it’s a quick solution at times but it’s risky thanks for looking out and stay safe
I can’t see the piston. A lot of people run these saws with 50:1 and blame the saw when the piston or bearings burn up. Would definitely recommend a pressure test. I sold my XS 661 because I never used a 3’ bar.
th-cam.com/users/shortsy4q4rXRX4xA
This is truly awesome. just one thing the stump is to high.
just cut above skidder rash and but swell but hard to tell from this angle thanks
That’s a really good idea side winching. I’ve done things like that before, but I never had a hitch of wood behind my Taco. It was just something that I HAD TO DO to get back to “civilization” so that I could go on to do what keeps us alive! FOOD
BTW, that’s also why I put a winch on the BACK of my truck: you don’t always want to go forward.
improvise adapt overcome
Waste of money. The first thing all my new saws get is a XS sticker. I’ve never understood the the nonsense of more noise equals more power, this is a gimmick for people who don’t know any better.
lol
Is that ported
This one is stock with filter mod and a homemade header pipe
@@RSDOutdoorsthat’s just like my 372, except that I didn’t have anything done to my air intake, yet. But it DOES get some work done. I surprised a man that I’ve been doing some occasional work for and it keeps up with his 661. Considering a 20cc difference, even HE is impressed!
All about the fileing pal sharp chain wins
That saw 🪚 is cutting like new chain is on it ... Nice efficient work...
Thanks 👍 just sharpened love pine cuts like butter
Its a nice saw, the 500i. Especially with a lightweight bar. They are very thirsty though.
that is the truth seems 2 tanks with 500 is 1 tank with the 372s
Nothing like Iike a sharp chain. Nice.
I totally agree! Oregon EXL chain little soft but great edge with round file
@@RSDOutdoorsThat soft material just makes it easier to “touch up”, unfortunately it just doesn’t stay. Same problems as with soft steel in a knife. 🤨 But whadayado?!
I need the easy touch up for the dirty wood iv used most big brands and the others kill the file to fast and a rock is a rock it kills them all so easy touch up keeps me going longer
@@RSDOutdoors As an arborist, I've been using the 2 in 1 style sharpeners for the last few years and I've got to say, they are a game changer. They hit the rakers (depth gauges) and the teeth. If you ever use one, you won't leave home without it.
@@raytyre750 iv been looking at them past couple times at the shop but still haven’t pulled the trigger
Junk saw
thanks
Nice Humbolt
thanks still working on them little different then firewood poles
Max flows are the best other than a full on stack and the stock Stihl air filters are only marginally better than no filter
great info and very true statement
Man that is so satisfying!!
stay tooned there will be more
That’s still going to be an okay load at “some” mills, but you’re liable to get more for it at a small “private” style mill by someone who mostly putters around IF they already have a “customer” of sorts. Good job BTW
I’ll fill you in when it comes back it’s a last ditch effort here on my part and pines prices are up
Pinus stobus...worth about 800 bucks for a entire semi of it here
Last list I had saw log pine here was 450 a 1000 now it’s back up so hopping I have around 7000 bf here
Put a helmet on please I’ve seen some unbelievable things happen where a hard hat saved lives
I wear one when I need one thanks
Stuck The landing

Timber falls very nice it's worth more than the price.
prices are heading up so I'm capitalizing on it now
Like a boss.

Good cutting. That stick falling from the sky at the end was perfect
Thanks 👍
