Films Off the Cuff
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 ก.พ. 2022
My name is Brett Clancy and I have been a film critic since high school (yet a film lover my entire life). I started my own movie review segment on my school's news broadcast. Today, I have expanded that short segment into my very own TH-cam channel. I enjoy discussing the biggest blockbusters and franchises, but the name of the channel comes from my original goal to discuss films that are unknown. Films without a proper introduction to the public (hence, "off the cuff"), but deserve a wider recognition. In other words, whether you enjoy watching people discuss new trailers, the latest comic book film extravaganza, or a smaller, more independent film, this might just be the right channel for you!

Missed the point huh
It wasn't so much that I missed the point...rather, the point the film was making didn't have the best or most inspired execution (in my opinion). Just because someone doesn't particularly care for a film doesn't necessarily mean "they didn't get it".
Extented cut is more cool
AVPR is definitely the worst but not the most offensive. The most offensive is alien 3 because of the opening but avpr is just a bad movie but it just goofs off with the monsters not the actual characters we know and love
Fair point.
1/10
Thanks for watching!
Wrong. AVP is a great movie and way better that Ripley walking around a space ship doing the same thing she did in 2 and 3. Its 2, Prometheus, AVP,1. Every thing else is away from the pack and repetitive. Got to check out Romulus still though. Great franchise.
Interesting. Never seen anyone prefer AVP to the original before. Thanks for the unique input.
9. Requiem 8. Resurrection 7. AVP 6. 3 5. Covenant 4. Prometheus 3. Romulus 2. Aliens 1. Alien
Thanks for you list. It's interesting to see the differences between opinions when it comes to franchises.
until the alien savers her
The opening is a slap to the face to all fans of the aliens franchise… because if you watch the ending of aliens, it’s a really meaningful and a heartwarming ending and then you pretty much have a whole arm shoved up your asshole at the beginning of alien 3… all they pretty much had to do was rinse and repeat for the third movie and they completely destroyed it.
I saw it for free and STILL felt cheated. 😂
I feel that. I'm a bit of a completionist when it comes to my Blu-ray collection, owning the weakest of some franchises just to have all the films. I have every Alien except for AVPR, and I still hesitate to get it.
@@filmsoffthecuff9316 lol, Im kind of the same way, I hadn’t considered those two as part of it because they aren’t included in the anthology, but I have that, and have watched it multiple times. With the exception of Alien 4. That movie is an abomination as well.
Huh. You should go see my review on Resurrection. Things could get heated, lol.
Great Review. #RebelMoon #RestoreTheSnyderverse
I mean without slow mo, it's probably 1hr 30min.
Good one!
Then you'd complain that nothing really stood out as far.as.the action scenes go.
Great Review! #RebelMoon #RestoreTheSnyderverse
Thank you!
i quite liked apocalypse it was a cool movie
Exactly. I've personally always preferred the X-Men prequels, as a whole, to the original X-Men trilogy. I wanted to like Dark Phoenix, but if you saw my video before this one, you know where that one ended up on the ranking.
@@filmsoffthecuff9316 i'll go watch it
Love the content bro.
Well I enjoyed making it. Feel free to share your own ranking here in the comments. Thanks for watching.
If bad boys 2 is a mess then it can’t be a good movie you have to rank which is the best by which one is cohesive and not messy and is actual quality that respects the cinema industry and its audience.
it was so good, better than pearl imo
the whole night stalker element was blah
Why does this guy look like Nicocado avocado if he was fit?
I had to look this guy Nikocado up, never hear of him. I guess we do share some similarities.
For your positive ✨️
Thank you for watching!
Thank you
It was good
The original bad boys has a coherent plot right after all there has to be some Michael bay movies that have a coherent plot and compelling charachterisations. The first is the best bay has to have made a best film in a franchise.
I guess that has, in some part, to do with the fact that the first Bad Boys was Bay's first film. He didn't have the chance to go full insane yet.
Do you think it had a coherent plot and story that made sense.
The only good bad boys is the first one imo.
I know that one is nostalgic for many people. After I make my review for this one, I'll probably do a quick ranking of all the films.
A+ OMG. Gonna Watch it this Week!
The original films aren't about evolution. Where did that come from? Apart from exploring sociopolitical orthodoxy and religious revisionism, the ever present theme is of humanity's inevitable self-destructive tendencies. These themes are also present in the new series in varying degrees.
I can see that. Maybe that was an oversimplification on my part. However, the pre-reboot films - to me at least - touched on a dynamic between humans and apes, almost as if hinting at a backwards evolution. That's where I got my statement from.
5 ☆S☆T☆A☆R review of a 5 ☆M☆O☆V☆I☆E! Bravo young man! GREETINGS FROM ANNAPOLIS MARYLAND! 💙😇💜
Thank you so much!
@@filmsoffthecuff9316 You're welcome!❄️🌎❄️
I didn't really know what to expect with this one but I was pretty satisfied with the outcome here and look forward to more apes films! Good review dude, just dropped a Like! :)
Thank you. Even in my excitement, I still had the notion that it would be just another Apes film, but this one actually had important things to say. Hopefully Wes Ball returns to direct the rest of them.
it was a lame movie
Epic!
This movie was so BLOODY FUN! The actress of Abigail was insanely good and the movie was so funny. I has an absolute blast with it and cannot wait to watch it again. Going to be apart of my halloween viewing for years to come for sure. Great review!
Thank you. Btw, still waiting for your response on a day to just talk...decide what we should collab on.
Nice review, felt very similar, the observational perspective is great, no pandering, just shot as if you’re in it.
It was truly incredible.
Great conversation, really enjoyed it!
Thank you.
Definitely the most underrated, it's my favourite film in the franchise, 2 has not aged well, 3 can be rewatched forever onwards, I don't mind 5 and 6 also
So "not good" then...
Dang, what an epic video
Movies nowadays are dime a dozen but when you get a gem like this movie...it moves you and consumes you for three hours. Can't wait for part three 👍
thank you for the review mr cuff!
My pleasure!
I was worried it would be overhyped for me, because I didn’t love the first part. This movie blew me away on every level! It is a spectacle of effects, it is was enthralling with its story and characters, and developed this world even more. A masterclass in sci-fi filmmaking. I was floored. It also flew by for me as well, it was paced to near perfection. Great review! Keep making videos 👍
Hey man love the review and you have an underrated channel, I would love to collab with you on something!
You've got it! Throw a suggestion anytime. Email: filmsoffthecuff@gmail.com
I still have yet to see this so im probably going to wait on a physical release and do you have any socials? I’d like to collab with you on something in the near future
Absolutely incredible film and a really immersive experience in the theater. Thanks for inviting me and I wish you luck on getting your review together. I agree it was a much more lore heavy film than the first and had so much effort put into it. As always Hans Zimmer’s score was 🤌. It really immerses you into the planet Arrakis and it shakes the seats in the theater. Going to check out that Dune Part 1 review right now.
Epic
Wasn't that taken with Harrison Ford's character in this, which seems to be mostly there to hark back to the original. Cinematography is great. I noticed that in the first minute or so.
Epic
I really enjoyed the movie. I ewnt hard on the suspension of disbelief.
That's cool. It was just disappointing to me because Matthew Vaughn has been able to make exciting films that are still more grounded. This film was fun, but a bit much for me at times.
Quentin Tarantino executed a cinematic masterstroke by strategically casting John Travolta as Vincent Vega, showcasing a brilliant intertextual link between "Pulp Fiction" and the 70s classic "Saturday Night Fever." The pivotal scene of Vincent and Mia dancing at Jack Rabbit Slim's serves as a seamless nod, underscoring Tarantino's adept ability to intertwine cultural references and elevate the film's narrative resonance. Experiencing "Pulp Fiction" upon its 1994 release was unparalleled; its unique narrative structure and Tarantino's distinctive style left an indelible impression. To this day, it holds a coveted spot in my top 10, a testament to its enduring impact and cinematic brilliance.
Amen.
Apart from The Man Who Knew Too Much, Hitchcock did not copy his own work, unlike a lot of other film-makers. In my opinion that's the way directors should approach a body of work. I might be old fashioned as I abhor franchises. I can stomach a sequel, but in general I find that any more than that, originality suffers.
I can respect that. Many stories forget to quit while they are ahead. However, some franchises actually manage to build a strong through-line between the stories to create a greater, more complex world. For me, it just depends on the filmmaker/studio. In other words, do they actually care, or do they just want money?
I am Japanese. To be honest, I'm surprised and very happy that this movie is being appreciated by people in the West. It's a shame that it didn't win Best Picture, but it's clear that this movie is great even without the Academy's prestige. It's all thanks to you otakus who made this movie more valuable. thank you!
Wow. Thank you for the comment, and you're very welcome. You might have made my day. There are many movies that are great without the Academy's prestige. Many of them will be in my best films of 2023 video. In a fair world, I definitely think this could have be nominated though. I can't wait to add this masterful gem of monster filmmaking to my 4k collection.
