Impressive 💪🏼👍
I'd like to be sure : the wires that goes from the meter to the load center (and the same from the meter to the disconnect) are 2/0 copper, am I correct ?
Farley is just as bad as Jeld-Wen. I installed 2 hopper style from Farley Windows and they're close to junk. Never again will I purchase that brand name. Stevie Wonder works their QC. The single 60x40 Jeld-Wen slider I installed was only slightly better. I opted to return the Jeld-Wen to Home Depot and get my money back. Just trash product, both companies, in my opinion.
Hi , thanks for the video, it really helped. Just wondering what size wire did you use? Did you bring the ground from the pole?
Typical installation is vapor barrier to bottom of framing, drywall or steel to next. Then blow in the cellulose.
Probably would of been better off buying the cheaper menards windows with all that mess. You pay a little more for a window to get a better quality. Shame on them.
i would have used pre treated plywood for the outside big box
Yeah. That’d be a simpler option. And easier to trim around.
Got a door with the jam for my garage, so many problems I feel like throwing it in the garbage. I will never purchase anything again until I check it out on the net.
Great video. Do you know that if you just listen to your voice you sound exactly like Jack Black the comedian.
So called modern windows😅😅😅
Not sure where you live but if you can get by with 80deg in the floor that’s pretty cool. Nice video, Thanks!
Awwww! Rhodesian Ridgeback! I had one 4 decades ago. Great dog! You never see them any more.
Jeldwen is horrible
Around here upgrading from 100A to 200A service costs between $8000-$13,000 so I can't imagine what 400A service costs.
Your plumbing/piping work reminds me of a one year old who got their first set of crayola crayons and went to town scribbling in her coloring book and said "Look Mommy, isn't this pretty". And your plumbing inspector must have been that child's 3 year old brother. GOOD GRIEF!
Next time flip your sheets upside down while cutting. It gives you a flatter surface to work with.
Your voice is so annoying
i just read an article comparing this company to Marvin lol i knew it was bs
I dig one side of tree root out and use the weight of the tree to help roll stumps out of ground. Much easier.
Wow, thats terrible. I bought a new builder grade home with Jeld Wen windows and doors a year ago. I live in a townhouse, so I dont have a lot of windows to begin with. 3 out of 7 windows or doors have some issues with them. Two glass panels had some type of stain within the glass. One window was leaking. The front door seal had a gap. All of these issues could have been caught easily with QC. I think they dont have any QC at their factory at all.
I too suspect a lack of QC. None of that stuff should make it out of the factory.
I am doing the same thing at my property that you are doing. I am having a heck of a time finding the right meter box and separate service disconnects to accomplish this. Can you please provide me the make and model number of each of your units there?
All our model info is in the pinned comment. If you’re looking for something that’s not there, let me know!
How has the roof held up?
Wonderfully. No issues whatsoever. Of course it’s still pretty new. :)
Lets put a 40,000$ heating system only to use the most inefficient fuel.
The most ideal fuel is the one that you have on hand. With 20A of woods and capability to process firewood ourselves…. It makes a lot of sense. It is an expensive system though. No doubt about that.
arent we using vapor retarders now?
What’s a comparable window to jeld wen? Seems to be what everyone is putting in around me in TX over the past year. I’ve seen a few plygem windows but not much else.
biggest piece of crap windows. I have two sliding windows the mold is growing in the sealant that hold the glass into the frame of the window and jeld wed told me I'm not clean the window. I can' t clean where the mold is growing and this is happening on the inside and outside of the window.
Turn down the god damn music do I can hear you!!
I assume the reason the zip isn’t attached to the studs is it’s not needed for racking resistance? Why install the foam under the zip?
I was about to pick up a jeld wen v-2500 sliding door. Great seeing this video. I opted out. I had been hearing rumors of Jeld-wen widows and doors taking a dive on quality control in the last year. Thanks for the video confirmation
Robert's very lucky to have you, you're amazing on that tractor and in the construction over all..
How about an update video missy...... it's been a year.. how's life?
Got busy with life. TH-cam vids took so much time, and I felt like it was better spent doing other things. Started our actual livestock farm. Couple dozen pigs, a small herd of heifers, milk goats, and way too many chickens. Glad you were enjoying the videos. Makes me wish I hadn’t stopped making them.
GREAT job, you're a natural on the L47.... I have an M62 and love it... you both did awesome. How deep is your well? I just sunk one in NW Arizona and didn't hit water till 1,500'.. ZOYKES... Jen
NEC VIOLATION unprotected service conductors entering building, no 400 amp main service disconnect/ overcurrent and ground fault protection for unprotected service conductors also the utility transformer 400 main need to have a rating 22,000 Available interrupting current AIC
Same problems. cross checked windows out of square by quarter inch off, also holes in windows. 5 windows a mess
Great educational video, I learned the 400 amp to make parallel way. I am curious if there is any special purpose to make the service disconnect for your house? Because you have barn load center (like a regular 200 amps panel), it could disconnect if needed. You might simply install a load center for house? Thank you!
thanks! I fI were you I will drill holes on meter socket box and let wires go in. First time to see horizontal stubs - you would change all to vertical - not sure the top lumber size. All meter socket mfg are stupid and over prised, and poor USA cannot make them!
Nice video. I’m in the process of hooking my Central Boiler up to my closed system and was worried about over pressurizing the system when the boiler is cranking out some BTU’s.
Vapor barrier is kinda new thing. Concrete has been around for 100s of years and survived without a plastic sheet under it. I'm no expert but common sense tells me that a well drained foundation around the slab is most important. A few punctures here and there shouldn't be a problem. Temperatures changes might cause your concrete to sweat so keeping it as dry as possible would minimize this. I built a house in 1989 and didn't fuse over plastic punctures, open seems, etc. My basement has never had a leak, and never had any moisture problems. I do, however, operate a very small dehumidifier in my basement.
Hello, Thank you for sharing, OMG I had the same issues. Also they shipped mine without protection as well as no instructions. They did my first custom window and it was a mess when it arrive at Menards. I had to wait for this window 30 days. So, when the window arrived to the hardware store it had scratches in the brown exterior trim, which I had to pay extra for been a two tone window. The hardware store re-order me a second window...a redo order. But unfortunately the second one arrived in the same worse conditions as the first one. So disappointed. I called the Jeld-wen Company, and yes the service representative was very nice and understanding. However, this is not the person manufacturing nor packaging the window to ship it. I must say it is unfortunate; and I have to say that the Jeld-Wen windows I purchased from from of the shell at Menards hardware store before this custom made order were better protected then my $500.00 window. I can understand the company making a mistake once, but making the same mistake twice with the same issues; it has a lot to tell about the production team management.
Repeat do not buy Jeld Wen Windows, we moved in a newly renovated house and it has Jeld Wen Windows, half of them are warped and leaking air on the seals. The latch does not match the cam locks. They are worthless replacement windows.
We miss your videos. You should come back and post some updates! Best of luck to you and yours!
Geesh. Makes me miss y’all too. :) We’re busy trying to keep afloat. Too many projects, not enough time. We’re actually farming now. Livestock but also planting forage. It’s a thing.
@@wanderwoodfarm3801 I can appreciate all the projects! We just had a rat infestation in our house. Causing all sorts of issues. From HVAC stuff to actually chewing through water pipes and causing damage there as well. Bittersweet. Great time for us to update everything on the property. Fighting with the electrical company over getting 400 amp service to the house and having them bury the line. Installing our generac generator. Updating everything we can in this house built in the '60s. Oh! We also got our wildlife rescue non-profit set up. So tons more rescues in the near future. Right after the first of the year, going to build our pen for quail that we're going to raise here as well
remember from the disconnect to the house you need to run 4 wire. 2 h, 1 n, and 1 g. the conduit will need to be 2.5 in. be best to do 3 in.
Thanks. Yes, ground wire will have to travel the distance. :)
Hello out of curiosity, what wire did you run from the transformer to your milbank? Regards
Our utility ran that chunk, so unfortunately I don’t know the specifics. They sized it for 400A service plus 100A back from solar.
Thank you, my utility company wanted to choose the cable then they did not like my choice, so I am using 3c 500 mcm AL with pin reducers, thanks for the response.
What type of polyurethane caulk did you use?
Well, I was going to order Jeld-Wen windows, but maybe not. lol
So glad i came across this video. I was about to order a patio door from Lowes and now am sure glad i did not. Saved me a lot of money and headaches.
Glad we could help. Building material quality has been a general disappointment though our entire build. But doors and windows have been our biggest disappointment of all. If you find something nice, please let us know.
The voice sounds like a south park character.
Bought to 4500 frames (80x72 sliding doors), had to exchange one due to marks, bent track. Once installed, there is a large gap (top or bottom), however the doors and frame are in spec. Fortunately got the doors for $250 each (on sale at lowes, list 800 or 1000 each) would never pay full retail.
Plumber here- plumbing should never be “ funky “. Sorry but epic fail on multiple levels.
awsome vid. this is exactly something i was looking at how to do.
