ADULTING 129 - MAKING FRIENDS AS AN ADULT IS HARD

The process of making friends has also not been exempted from this change...

Thank you for this webinar. It was amazingly insightful.
You are most welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Same I don't like attention at all 😂
Good nice one
Great job my friend 🥰
It's September and inconsistency has me in a chokehold 😅
Happy new month! Inconsistency can be convenient, but we have to intentionally decide to hold ourselves accountable and stay consistent. So, when are you making the decision to break free from the claws of inconsistency 😂?
One thing is for sure: I’m definitely going to miss hitting the play button on your channel every Saturday. I loved every episode, but Dealing with Opinions stood out for me, it resonated deeply because I had a thousand voices speaking to me then. Adulthood Reawakening was also a favorite for obvious reasons. Fake It Till You Make It taught me a few tricks, and ‘Surviving a Toxic Workplace’ was another great episode. Thank you for an amazing Season One. It was truly an incredible experience. I’m excited to see the next seasons be even bigger and better. For now, I’ll enjoy revisiting the previous episodes.
I'm glad you found the podcast impactful. Thank you for being such a devoted listener. The podcast will be back in no time, but in the meantime, you can always revisit your favorite episodes.
Please take yout time this is impressive. Kudo🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!
😂😂😂My God this is my true reflection, I also struggle with listening. Listening takes intentionality. Hope to het better at it.
Exactly, you just have to be intentional about improving your listening skills. I hope you've already made the decision, though 🤨.
😂😂😂... Wow, I guess i am an adult physically but my mind is still babying about because the level at which i cry this days ehnn... I dont think i cried like that when i was way younger. Hmm... I see it, it is necessary to allowing a children cry well as they grow up so that their tears can dry up when they are older like Ma'am Bukky's case.
This is really funny! 😂😂😂 Adults cry too; we all do when our emotions are heightened. Crying doesn’t make you any less of an adult. Besides, adulting can be really overwhelming. Sending you lots of love.
Most Importantly Ma, thank so so much for this video, one thing I have learnt is that for every topic of my life somebody there should be someone I can turn to for counsel... Very in line with what the scriptures says that ''In the multitude of counsels is purpose established''.
Well said! I’m glad you enjoyed the episode.
For me though, I guess for every opinion that comes my way, I do not fight it, it will always not be soothing and that make it better and forward, because 'adun lon gbeyin Ewuro' as the yoruba's would always say. But here is the balance all we have to do is accept it from the perspective that we cannot see the whole of us and some other persons have to see some part of us better, thereafter, meditate on the opinion, then think it, pray on it, the Holy spirit take control from there, whether to trash or start looking for resources to align.
Very important, know who you are in God. Know who God has called you to be. Stay with it, run with it. #opinions #growth #develooment Opinions will always come mostly from concerns. I like when you said you have to know yourself. I guess we as human have to find who we are from the revelation of who God has revealed us to be. This is the most concrete form of knowing, because with this knowledge we can pursue with little or no fear and have an idea of what the outcome of our life will be. Believing that the ruler of the world is with us.
Yes, You are right we are not our kids friends and we got to be cautious... There is a lot to learn here. Lately, I was just thinking that at what point do I hit, spank, correct with our voice, snap at the kids. Especially that hitting part, Sis, you won't imagine the thoughts that was going through my mind, all of a sudden the reality just dawn on me that I will be a parent soon, and I was just concern that I will soon be struggling between not wanting my kids to distant themselves from me and wanting them to be really close and tell me anything they feel and think. But then the Holy Spirit will help us since that is what he promises us... 'He will teach us all things'. This is my rest.
Yes, family is our first contact in the society so it can help build or reduce how the bigger society influences us.
I love the voice of our guest, so soft and comforting. Yes, most time people we judge to be snobbish are in reality usually shy or quiet.
Yes, this challenges thing. Reminds me of Mama #FunkeAdejumo said that 'because they carry it so well does not mean it is not heavy'
Has to come rewatch this video... I need motivation for the step I am about to take, thank you for keeping up. It's helping people like us.
I'm glad the video helped. I wish you all the best on your new project.
Like one of your guests said in the intro, “Adulthood is decision making”. These advices will come; Good or bad . But the decisions will always be left to you to make and the consequences also be yours to bear. So as adults, we just have to learn when to listen to people or shut out the noise and hope that we’re doing the right thing each time .
Well said! Thank you.
Adulthood does come with a lot of responsibilities and autonomy. And I agree with the 25 year mark thing. I call it “Quarter life crisis “
😂, quarter-life crisis indeed.
I’m fine oo. August has really been Augusting on my end. (Whatever that means🤣). But the Month has been good so far. 🥰
lol.... Thankfully, it has been going well.
Adulthood has really been a rollercoaster and yes, this was so educative and relatable. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Rollercoaster is the perfect description. I'm glad you enjoyed this episode.
Financial management is actually something very important that nobody teaches us, especially us, young adults. I don’t totally agree with the idea that all you need is to make more money oo. Because more money usually generates more expenses and if you don’t know how to manage it, it really won’t give you the satisfaction that you imagined. The more money you make, the more expensive your taste bud 🤣
You are right. We need more information on how to properly manage our finances and how to invest.
Honestly, I hope that we get a positive outcome from this protest. The country keeps getting worse by the day. And adulting in Nigeria in this day and age is a 100 times more difficult. 😢 If you’re Nigerian, life is already winning you 100 x 0 🤣🤣
You get it! Our Nation will be great again.
I identify so much with this episode. Being self aware helps you know yourself better. It’s also process that never ends. Like you said, having those difficult conversations with yourself is very important.
I'm glad you find the episode relatable and insightful 😊.
I think you should explore writing tho. I think you’ll excel at it. But also, it’s never too late to learn how to sing. I’ve see a bunch of videos of people go from 0-100. All you need is dedication and to find your tune.
Awwn, thank you! Writing sounds interesting. I don't think I'd consider singing, though.
This episode is actually very educative. I think the middle ground you’re talking about is actually those who are in denial of their truth.
This episode is actually very educative. I think the middle ground you’re talking about is actually those who are in denial of their truth.
HMM... I also think the first step to finding a balance is acknowledging and accepting the truth.
Nice ❤
Thanks 🔥
I am fine and cool trying to enjoy my weekend
Good to know😊!
Nice 🎉
Thanks 🤗
As human we are bound to think about the future, but let’s spend little time on it, think about today, work hard and prayerful commit tomorrow unto God’s hand since we don’t have power over tomorrow
Exactly, we just have to focus on the things that are within our control. Thanks, Mum!
Hmmm I feel there should be a check and balance. Yes, I’m discontented with this current situation but then, there has to be an understanding that it’s okay to take it a day at a time. Life generally is a journey, a journey to becoming better everyday.
Yes, a check and balance is necessary. Discontentment can be a driving force when put in check. If not properly managed, it can have adverse effects.
Hmmmm be the ghost 😅, but most times you don’t see it coming 😂
Don't mind my lousy advice 😂.
Leaving a Job? Then comes how do you survive. The bigger question bruhhhh.
This is an adult's dilemma. However, we need to know that there will always be better opportunities.
Sis. I particularly have issues with employers out there. Like... There is is one who knows he is supposed to pay me and he did not and he would come to telling me how he expects me to do the work everyday. I had to borrow laptop and use my data and do the job about 10 hours 5 days per week.
This is really unjust! I am sorry you have to go through this. I think you have to demand your payments sternly. It's really emotionally draining for you to keep showing up without pay.
Job Search... Wow www. Job search is draining sis.
I can imagine, sending you hugs and all the encouragement you need. Something great is coming very soon.❤️
Ghosting... I believe that time usually separates people or brings people together. There's no need for too much drama.
A life without drama is all we want, but encountering unexpected twists is part of the adulthood package.
Yes😂😂😂 The year is moving so fast. And I think it's because we are thinking we are out of time. But God’s children always stay in time, when we acknowledge him in our ways.
Glory! With God, it will happen at the perfect time.
So eloquently camptured... It was great listening to this
Thank you! I'm glad you had a great time listening.
You're doing, Bukky 🎉
Great listen! 18:16 About the communication section, I think this is a very unkind thing to say to oneself and it’s probably due to things that are echoed to her from family and friends. Thankfully, this episode advises on just the right thing to do to overcome low self esteem. I’ll probably add that she say some words of affirmation and focus on the positive aspects of things. Life is indeed colorful if we stop to see it in black and white.
Thank you so much! Words of affirmation are quite effective.
Nice ❤
Thanks!
Yayyy! Congratulations on the 30 episodes milestone 🎉 Your consistency really inspires me
Thanks so much 😊
I love that you guys spoke on one of my favourite topics😇. I am always a sucker for good friendships and quality friendships that I always try my best to be one until recently. I have had a couple of friendship heartbreaks both from same-sex and opposite-sex that it has made me more cautious and withdrawn in my efforts, which I don't like🥲
I am glad you enjoyed the episode! I'm sorry you've had to go through friendship heartbreak; it is very hurtful. Also, I think you might be able to get back into the friendship groove by focusing on your positive friendship experiences.
Yes, I loved this episode, it was so much fun
You guys are great :)
Thank you so much!
It's your consistency for me. Well-done Bukky 👏.
Thank you!
Doing something because it's the safest option has often been my bane. I've been too careful to try anything disruptive. I need to learn from your playbook-go back to the drawing board, reevaluate, and not be afraid of changes
I am glad you found this insightful. You can still carefully go for what you want, it doesn't have to be disruptive, tho😊.
Hmmmm Comfortably maximizing experiences Okay, going forward I will romanticize my life more.
Exactly! Cheers to making our process enjoyable ❤️.
😂😂😂 Yes, positive affirmation is so powerful also I just realized that rebuking evil thoughts as they cross our mind works.
Thanks for sharing. In general, we need to control the thoughts we entertain in our minds.
