I met (Coach) Brookhart during my time rowing at Ignatius. I remember vividly that I looked up to him and he provided a great example of discipline and strength. He carried an athletic intensity and was able to channel it into rousing up our boat before lining up. Well deserved award and he is deeply missed, but never forgotten.

I remember playing backyard football games with Dan and classmates. He was playing tecmo bowl LOL. Thought I could keep up with just about anybody in my younger years but this dude was just pure smoke, pure smoke. Congrats dan.

Awesome! I was only able to attend my freshman year before having to transfer but I still remember nuggets from Mr. Healy that I use professionally when connecting with my team...22 years later!

Reminds me of the Private boys' (to Year 12) school where my brother was a scholarship student in the early 1970s. Late In his final year, a new teacher, talking to some students, was saying something like "Long hair and scruffy uniform make a sloppy mind, tidy yourselves up or you'll never succeed." My bro walked past, hair to his shoulders, casual bearing... the teacher expressed displeasure and said "Who is that?" and the lads delighted in telling him, "Oh, that's the Dux of the school and the State." Some fights come up again and again. I just heard of a US civil rights case, an 8 year old boy being forced to cut his hair, grown for religious reasons. Heck, I though we had sorted out that boys may grow their hair ling and girls may cut theirs short... Fascisti fear the smallest disobedience will shatter their rule! The price of liberty is eternal vigilence.
