aquaticcommunity - is used a lot fishlore - a very good forum with practically every fish related question answered, plus, when you freak out about something and think that it must be you doing something wrong with your aquarium, it is very reassuring to find similar stories lol One version of CO2 injections is simply liquid CO2, 1ml per 10gl, and every Fertilizer has instructions on a back lol

Yes, it's always better to measure twice lol. But with plants, don't be scared. They'll actually make the whole tank maintenance process much easier and water more stable (plants process fish waste). I would also recommend adding a drift wood to your tank, it stabilizes water as well. And yeah, drift wood needs to be from a pet store (those are special types of wood that do not rot in water), you will also need to soak a drift wood in a bucket for a couple of days, till it stops coloring water

I was going to try to add some plants to my 5 gallon betta tank. I was thinking java ferns and anubis and just like some beginner low light hardy plants... Amazon sword sounds like a good choice for me too. Right now I have just a tiny 10W bulb lighting the whole thing lol looks like I've got a lot of research to do! :) I don't know anything about CO2 injections or how to use fertilizers... Do you know of any good websites or any good vids on youtube I could study up at?

Basically all of them need CO2 added on a regular basis, fertilizer once a week and good light, 2 tank lights are upgraded to Aquatic Life T5. But even with a standard kit light you will likely be able to grow amazon sward, cabomba (grows like weed and can sometimes clog filters), anubis (does not need a high light), and wisteria.

Aww, good for you! Since it is a new tank and you are new to the whole thing, I would wait with ram purchase as well, they need established tank with no ammonia, nitrate, nitrite and other fluctuations, and yeah, pH is very very important, they love soft water. Among 10, 20, and 75gl tanks, I have: easy care level: amazon sward, anubis nana, cabomba, moss, wisteria; harder to grow: hydrotriche, ludwigia peruensis, jungle val, anacharis, vallisneria asitica, rotala macrandra.

I probably need a lot more experience before I start trying to get rams and angels though... I'd love to try a planted tank too :)

I would really love to have them all together, (that'd be my dream tank) :) I've just gotten into aquariums, I put everything in my 10 gallon I've had for about 2 or 3 months now into the 25 gallon (found it on a Facebook yard sale page with everything for just $30! So I had to have it lol). Right now I've just got 2 mollies, 4 guppies and 3 cories in it. It feels kind of bare haha! I'm sure they're all happy with more space to swim though :) what kind of plants do you have in your aquarium?

As for an angelfish, you will eventually need to upgrade your 25gl to a bigger tank, ideally in less than 6 months cause they grow fast. When my angel got too big, we set up a 75 gl and bought two more angels (cause they are so omg cute lol). If you do not want to upgrade your 25gl, and deciding among those three species, I would recommend that you get only rams and corydoras, cause you would not want to have an unhappy angel who gets territorial due to the lack of space and bullies rams

Hi, thanks for your comment. 25 gallon tank is more than enough for an angelfish, rams, and cory until angelfish gets too big. The tank in the video is 20gl, at some point I had 8 panda corydoras (full grown size is approximately 2 inches), angel, a couple of rams. Unfortunately, rams are very sensitive, it is relatively hard to acclimate them and even slightest change in water parameters can impact their well-being. So you will need to make sure that your angel fish does not get aggressive

I would love to have a tank with angelfish and blue German rams and cory catfish :) This is a beautiful tank! Right now the biggest tank I have a 25 gallons, it's not a tall one though so I probably couldn't have an angelfish, could I?
