Queen of Burnaby horns
Since this is her retirement year, I've decided to compile my eight recordings of the Queen of Burnaby's airchime whistle. Best one is at Nose Point at 0:18.

Queen of Nanaimo's Horn - A Compilation

A compilation of recordings that I've taken of the Queen of Nanaimo's horn. She has arguably one of the best sounding whistles in the BC Ferry fleet.

Spirit of Vancouver Island's Interior
มุมมอง 3.3K13 ปีที่แล้ว
The Spirit of Vancouver Island is one of the two largest ships in the BC ferry fleet, tied with her sister, the Spirit of British Columbia. The SOVI was built in 1994 and has always operated on the Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen route.

Mill Bay
มุมมอง 1.2K14 ปีที่แล้ว
The Mill Bay was the oldest ferry in the BC Ferry fleet, built in 1956. She was retired on May 1, 2011. She is the second smallest ship in the fleet, the Nimpkish is the smallest ship. The Mill Bay has been plying the waters of the Saanich Inlet (Brentwood Bay-Mill Bay route) for her entire service life. She joined the BCF fleet in 1969. With a crew of 5, she can carry 133 passengers and 16 veh...
Queen of Capilano
มุมมอง 1.6K14 ปีที่แล้ว
The Queen of Capilano was built in 1991, in Vancouver. She was the first of two Cumberland Class ferries built. The Queen of Capilano first operated on the Saltery Bay-Earls Cove route. She had many breakdowns on that route, and eventually, she was taken out of service for repairs. Less than a year later, the Queen of Capilano was removed from serivce for repairs and she was repositioned to the...

Queen of Coquitlam
มุมมอง 1.8K14 ปีที่แล้ว
Here's a less shaky walkthrough of the Queen of Coquitlam. The MV Queen of Coquitlam was built in 1976, in Vancouver. She was the first C Class vessel built. The Queen of Coquitlam is now a "mule" vessel, meaning she dosen't have an assigned full-time route (this used to be the Queen of Esquimalt's position). Her first route of operation was the Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay route, and she will r...

Fun facts: captains always blow the ship’s whistle to warn us that the ferry or ships are leaving in few minutes or now leaving, or arriving. They also blow the ship’s whistle for horn battles with different boats ships or ferries even they blow the ship’s whistle in case there’s an Emergency

@theFerryTraveller The Toronto Maple Leafs has won the Stanley Cup. At least that's what that one sounds like. Actually the Vancouver Canucks has a horn, that sounds exactly like it on the lowest of five goal horns, situated inside Rogers arena. You should look up this video called how the rods work. You're actually noticed that it sounds exactly the same.

Bowen's a neat old boat. I think they've replaced those fiberglass chairs in the deck 3 lounges these days. I used to take it a lot when it was running between Salt Spring and Schwartz Bay, and hated getting to the terminal to find that its uncomfortable and often cold replacement the Quinitsa was running that day. Ugly scow...

It is an odd boat. I grew up taking its predecessor, the Vesuvius Queen, on a weekly to monthly basis. Nothing against the HSQ, but the Vesuvius was an old school ship! Mechanical linkages from the bridge to the engine room for throttle control, and facing each other, a pair of wooden steering wheels almost 3 feet in diameter.

Shame someone is giving you thumbs down you have great ship tours. I was aboard this ship a couple of weeks ago on a mid-week day trip and didn't see as much as I've seen in your video. I spend the whole sailing in the lounge drinking coffee. I really should explore more I guess. I am going over to the island again this Saturday morning and Coastal Celebration is still on the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay sailing while the Spirit ships are in annual refit. Thanks again!

Nice overview! Beware low season Duke Pt to Tsawwassen, they do not operate SeaWest lounge. Although Sitka lounge is available, it isn't as nice or nearly as quiet. BTW they had this ship on Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay last week. Wonder where the S-class ships are?

@jlongmuir13 No, I don't think it would be good. west van-nanaimo is best suited for double enders(esp. in hsb), and the New West carries a good 100 cars less than the C class, when there's only 2 boats on the route.
