    Does 8 1/2 x 11 felt work for the 8x8 size

    • @CristinCreates
      @CristinCreates 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I went over all the felt and the sizes in the tutorial. I just re-watched it since I did this 3 years ago, and it says I used 9x12 and then cut it down to size at the end. I found this info at 3:12 into the video. I hope this helps. More details within the tutorial. Merry Christmas.

    I am late to the party but need a little help, I do not see on the book what background quilting to use for each block. Is there a chart for that?

    • @CristinCreates
      @CristinCreates 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Kim, I did this quilt two years ago, so I don't recall if I picked quilting designs for each block. That would be my guess. I do say on each video which quilting design I'm using and that you can use whatever design you'd like in this specific size. The other option is to check Kimberbell's website for a quilting bundle for Red White & Bloom. If there is one, then they usually include a guide for the entire quilt of which designs they used for quilting. It will be in the photos of the RWB quilting bundle if there is one. I hope this helps.

      Good idea as it is very confusing when shopping. I prefer the EMBROIDERY vinyl over heat transfer vinyl. It has a backing and is similar to using fabric for embroidery appliques. Mine I've had forever, but I'm ordering this one today and I added it to my Amazon storefront. Thanks for the suggestion! amzn.to/3O19Pw2

    Cristin I have an unrelated question. I’m doing my first Kimberbell project. Oh Sew Delightful. There is a lot I’m unsure of. Hopefully I’ll be able to figure it out. I’ve finished all the blocks. What I want to ask you is, how did you tack down the cord on the iron block? Hopefully you can give me some advice. I’m also going to probably have questions about the embellishments. Thank you for your time. Allison

    • @CristinCreates
      @CristinCreates 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Allison, Congrats on doing your first Kimberbell project! Go to Cristin Creates on TH-cam and click on the Playlists tab and choose the playlist for Oh Sew Delightful. All the videos for that project are in that playlist. The one for the iron specifically is here: th-cam.com/video/N1kza0QG2qg/w-d-xo.html it shows in the video the placement and tack down stitches for the cord. After that block is complete, you'll tack down the cord in the way that you choose. I lined it up in a fun curvy way and then I just used thread that matches the background fabric and came up from under the block and a small hand stitch over the cord and back down to simply hold it in place. I did that in a few places to give the cord a curvy look. For the embellishments, there's an entire tutorial video that goes along with adding the backing. Step by step. You got this!

    Cristin....do you put glue on the batting and the fabric before placing? It seems that the foot would get caught on the edges as it moves around the 4 quilting designs tacking down the batting and then the same for the tack down for the fabric? Please advise and Thank YOU!

    • @CristinCreates
      @CristinCreates 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kimberly, no. If I use glue, then I always show it on the step by step tutorial. I do use a glue stick on the borders to adhere the batting, but again, I do show that in the tutorial. If you're concerned about the batting moving, then you could glue it to the stabilizer or tape, but I've never found that to be necessary as the batting stays in place quite well against the stabilizer. I hope this helps.

      Hi Chantal, did you share what is happening with the block? I'm not sure if I misunderstood. "When I do the Hay Base decoration for the thread to tap below, I restarted my block 3 times and always the same problem." what do you mean by for the thread to tap below and what is happening when you do the hay rides block? One thing is that you could start by re-downloading the design from your CD in case it has become corrupt. Depending on what the issue is, you may need to reach out to Kimberbell's customer service, but let me know what's happening and I'll do my best to help. Start by re-downloading the design.

    Need help!! I have some blocks from falling for Autum that have batting and I’m mixing some disappearing 9 patch blocks, do I add batting to those? Then sew them together?? Do we join blocks without batting I. The seams?

    • @CristinCreates
      @CristinCreates 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Loanne, I seem to need a lot more info... you're commenting on the Golden Hour House and the Chokecherry House blocks. But if I'm understanding your question correctly, you're asking about "mixing some disappearing 9 patch blocks". I made this Falling For Autumn quilt a year ago, so I went to the playlist and looked through each of the video topics and I don't see any 9-patch blocks in the FFA quilt. There are pumpkin piecing blocks and star piecing blocks, but I don't see any 9-patch blocks. As far as whether you add batting to a 9-patch block, yes. We just finished doing some 9-patch blocks on the Jingle All The Way quilt and I go through step by step on how to do them and when to add the batting on that tutorial. You can go to Cristin Creates on TH-cam and click on the Playlists tab and click on the Playlist for Jingle All The Way and all the tutorials that we've done so far for that project are in that playlist. In that tutorial for the 9-patch blocks, I go step by step on when to add the batting and when to sew them together. I hope this helps to answer your question.

      Here's a direct link to the nine patch blocks tutorial for the Jingle All The Way quilt. I hope this helps. I don't know which blocks you're referring to for Falling For Autumn. Great video. I have made several projects from it. Thank you! I am having a problem with the fusible stabilizer. I did purchase the one recommended. When I try to remove it, it always leaves little hard glue dots no matter what I do. When you heat it up, do you heat it from the embroidery side or from the inside of the shirt?

    • @CristinCreates
      @CristinCreates 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Lisa, Yes, those little glue dots will remain until you warm them up enough to get them out. They won't hurt anything, but it's best to heat them up. I iron the shirt from the front and do it for longer than you think you need to or do it in sections and then when it's nice and hot, it will easily pull up and pull it all the way to the stitching and then trim it to about 1/4" or 1/8" from the stitching and then once all the excess is pulled and trimmed away, then I re-heat the front of the shirt so that the little edges will adhere to the shirt again. I hope this helps. There's a small blurb about this technique at 25:00 in the video. Have fun! Cristin

    Hi Cristin, I have been watching your tutorials for Cup of Cheer and following along with merging the designs using Embrilliance. They have all worked perfect up to this point. I don't know what is happening but when I click on Utility, color sort, new view, step 3-placement line for the background fabric, gets cut, it doesn't sew all the way around. Each block has just a sewn line on one side, then another block has just one sewn line on the top. Each block just has one side sewn. The tack down stitch does the same. I ungrouped it all to see if that would make a difference but it didn't it does the same thing. Before I did the color sort I checked each of those steps, 3&4 and they stitch all the way around. I did update Embrilliance today since I also updated my iMac. Do you have any idea how I can fix this? Thank you so much for all you do. Theresa

    • @tmurray757
      @tmurray757 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I don't know what I did to fix it, but it is working now. When I selected color sort I unchecked the boxes on the right, don't know if that made the difference or not. All the other times I did color sort it worked fine. Go figure. Thanks again. You're the best!
