    I took my spindle covers off when I bought my Hustler ZTR. Way too much grass stays compacted under them and rust the deck. I blow mine off after every use and it looks just like the day I bought it. FYI.... an impact driver will take off those blades much easier and faster as well.

    I love your idea. I have a 1957 Ford 640 tractor but it doesn`t have the roll bars and although I can buy aftermarket ones, I would have to weld it to the tractor behind the seat to the tractor frame and I`m not sure if that would be a good idea. These tractors didn't come with a canopy or a complete aftermarket one that I can find.

    NIce video, I need to replace the blades on mine and have the old ones sharpened. I appreciate your stating the bolt size because I would have presumed that they would have been metric. I like that you used jack stands because you can't be too safe when working in crush zones.

    Beef up the holes in the new rim with a piece of quarter inch plate steel maybe . You could drills the hole first then mount the wheel and tack it. That way you get it right on.

    • @lonestarhomestead5415
      @lonestarhomestead5415 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @erikbostrom.9318
      @erikbostrom.9318 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lonestarhomestead5415 maybe even a steel bushing/piece of pipe, and put plate on both sides.. cut put with a grinder to make it long enough.. maybe quarter inch is too thick to weld to the rim.. 2 × 1/8th? Get it up to the bend and attach it there over 5 invhes distance .. Maybe a whole disk of steel that fills the flat part.. Easy for me to say 🙄

Unless your in there and want to?? I just shared it with someone else on the side but didn’t want to publicly post it without your permission, and I’m not sure if your in there or not, I wasn’t in that group myself until just this year. Put this in there or let me! Lots of guys have asked about this just since I joined this past summer or fall.

    I have a 1025r and every time I take it out to our property in North Central TX to dig, brush-hog, till, etc. it is HOT AF! A western style hat and long sleeves can only do so much when it's 100+ outside and the sun feels like it's set on "hi-broil". I've been looking for a cheap/affordable DIY canopy plan for awhile. This one looks really good! Might have to give it a go. Nice work!

    • @lonestarhomestead5415
      @lonestarhomestead5415 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean I drive it down the dirt road as fast as it will go and it’s fine. If you were to put it on a trailer or something you might think about tying the front of it down. It does shake a little bit depending on what you can stand you might brace it a little different.

    I drive my ztr onto my trailer ramp with one wheel hanging off...replace the blade on that side...then drive it up the ramp with the other side off and replace the other blade. Quicker than having to get out the jack and jack stands. An impact gun (I have the ryobi electric one) makes the job faster and easier as well.
