BART: 12th Street Rerouting (July 2024)
Due to a fire over the previous weekend, BART is running trains through 12th Street/Oakland City Center and 19th Street Oakland on a unique arrangement.
Usually, Yellow line trains to Pittsburg/Antioch use track 3, Richmond uses track 1, and both SF/SFO Airport/Millbrae and Berryessa trains use track 2. Due to the fire, trains are temporarily using the following:
Richmond and Pittsburg/Bay Point: Track 1
SFO Airport, Millbrae (San Francisco): Track 3
Berryessa: Track 2

0:26 Yellow line train to Pittsburg
1:46 Yellow line train to San Francisco Airport
3:11 Yellow line train to Antioch and going downstairs to track 2
3:40 Orange line train to Berryessa on the usual platform 2.

BART Legacy Fleet: Air Horn
มุมมอง 2.5Kวันที่ผ่านมา
An authentic Grover air horn from a retired BART A2 Car, covered with a million miles worth of grime. This video explains the history of the air horn on the BART Legacy Fleet, its purpose, this specific horn being used, and clips of other air horns throughout the years on trains. The air horn was not commonly used, but designed to warn wayside personnel of a train’s presence. It was also used t...
BART in July 2024: Hot Weather Speeds
มุมมอง 46521 วันที่ผ่านมา
Due to the heat wave, BART trains run slower on some sections of the system. This includes some sections of the southern Alameda Line. The automatic train control system regulates the train so that even though the track is designed for speeds of up to 80 mph, the train will only go up to 44 mph, with reduced speeds across all non-zero speed commands. This is done at BART and other systems acros...

I much prefer the electric horn. Are any of the A2 consoles still available? I want to donate one to the Colorado Railroad Museum.
Nice video, today at 19th street at least they had lots of announcements and staff making sure that people were aware of the change. Yesterday, they were not announcing things as much and I was waiting for a Richmond train at 19th street and a SFO train pulled up on the Antioch/BP platform. I was very confused about what was going on, I guess this messes up the northbound timed transfer.
heard about that fire what exactly happened?
Very short, very non-informative but thanks for the video
BART car 437, the ZOHO One AD car. @ATPTransit P.S It is good to comment you again after I met you at MacArthur station on April 20th, 2024 during the legacy fleet ceremony!
How can anyone say that , that doesn’t look better than not painted ? 🤷♂️❤
Honestly I don’t really like it
How much money was already on the ticket?
Hey ATP Transit is there a way that I can get my hands on the operators console from BART legacy car unit 1234???
No, the car has found a second life outside of BART.
OK. I'm so happy for it.🙂🙂🙂@@ATPTransit
1:33 Cool sounds like a fire engine. trains can yell!
Sounds like the original Rohr motors from the 1970’s.
I remember hearing something like this horn, about 11 AM on Monday 9th February 1999, while waiting for a westbound train at Lafayette station to Embarcadero. I happened to be running my tape recorder at the time. What a moment captured from back then.
Nice
aaah so it's not the "🔵🔵" one, but the "🚒🚒"!
I'm guessing the Manual Control handle is spring loaded, meaning if you let go of it, the handle automatically returns to the "Stop" position. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes. No deadman switch so this can function as that while running in manual
Nice, but I'll just stick with my $50 number plate souvenir. 🙂
This horn is not going to get the attention of people that need to be warned. They should have asked the company who builds air horns for diesel-electric locomotives to build something that would get the attention of everyone.
Would love to get one, but too rich for my blood
Awesome!
I wish I could buy that but it's too expensive and I can't afford it.
I wish I could buy one when will the Bart WRM exhibit be completed?
WRM will get the cars in the coming weeks. A date is yet to be determined.
Damn I wish I had 1K to spend on one of these. Just not the right timing but it’ll be nice to see on in a museum. I grew up riding these since I was very young
They have a horn on it right? Or, the cONSOLE for the horn.
Horn buttons. No actual horn included with them.
@@ATPTransit I see.
so how do we buy one?
Email consoles@wrm.org with your contact info. Instructions are in the video
I wonder what will the fleet of the futures will meet for there ending
i want one now
Didn’t the C2 Cars retired in 2020 or 2021
Exited revenue service in 2020 and scrapped through 2021.
@@ATPTransit and 2558 was the last scrapped
They are expensive and makes sense however I won’t be able to get it due to it being expensive
have you documented whose bought what console and where they've gone?
THANKS!! I was hoping somebody would record this chopper control and you did. I think you should also upload the raw audio.
I forgot my recorder so this was made using my headphones against my phone. This is as clean as I have I am afraid
It's always interesting to see Grover truck horns used in subway applications. The PATCO also uses Grover horns, opting for the 1600 series. Despite how weak the spun brass bells are on those horns, they seem to have held up great. Definitely sets it apart from most transit systems that opt for horns from Nathan AirChime such as the P2 and KJ-24 along with Wabco horns such as the A-2, AA-2, and D-5.
I haven't been on BART since they got new cars, so I'm very glad to hear they're already preserving those cars.
Heyo ATP, where was the wipers button on the newer version of the A car?
Near the top. I can show you once WRM gets their A car
@@ATPTransitsweet can’t wait. I wish you all at WRM best of luck!
Could you do a video about the air horn on the new trains?
the new trains don't have air horns, they have a bullhorn speaker that plays the regular horn, or if the emergency horn button is pressed, plays a shrill tone much louder. It was very common to hear it when the trains were new and the operators were being trained on them.
I’m confused. It felt like you gave me 2 different explanations
@@larailfan1714 new trains do not have air horns, they have an electric horn that either plays the regular tone or a louder danger tone depending on which horn button the operator presses
Hey man! Happy to hear your voice! Also great job on the horn review! "Honk" is right on that too on the thumbnail! You did great! Keep up the good work!
By any chance could you put out some more clips of the airhorn of the BART train while entering the station? I think that would be cool.
This video has pretty much all my clips of the air horn in action
@@ATPTransit oh and what about the Fruitvale emergency stop clip?
If only the fleet of the future had a horn like this. Wow, what a wonderful video! Love it! Honk honk!! Boop Boop Boop Boop Boop, HONK HONK!!
wow I cant believe that was where the death honk came from
So far 6 A2 Cars Survived
Six were not scrapped, only one will be preserved (at the Western Railway Museum)
@@ATPTransit since 1164 is already to the western Railway Museum I wonder what the rest of those 5 A2 Cars are gonna do
Bars, Airbnb etc www.bart.gov/about/projects/legacy
best caltrain video ive seen so far (caltrain my fav)
Kinda looks like the Dart Light Rail ticket machine from Dallas. I had trouble buying the my ticket from EBJ Union Station, cause it was asking for my 5 digit PIN number, which I forgot to put it in, but thankfully I figured out that problem
I always loved watching the trains race while going to MacArthur. Only difference is that I was in the Richmond train. 😂
Beautiful seeing one of the last of these trains, excellent sound capture too. I will miss the legacy fleet.
San Mateo County
3 seconds and it’s already fast
I'm surprised that BART still has some of remaining legacy fleet cars still sitting at the train yards after retirement and they haven't been scrapped yet including 1212 the last A car I rode on all the way to MacArthur. BART has 23 A cars and 16 B cars left sitting at the train yards.
There's just a small handful of cars left - about 9 total legacy cars are parked in the yard. All these cars in the yard have found a second use so they are being held until they are picked up by the new owners. For example Western Railway Museum's cars are still at the yard and will be transported in the coming weeks.
Wow! I have never seen trains run this slow before. I see them run fast when watching TH-cam everyday, especially sometimes one day I get to go back and ride NYC Subway, Metro in Washington DC, and MARTA in Atlanta!
This is nesscary either way.
They also have these at Walnut Creek!
Are the NABIS retired?
One is apparently still around but no idea how often it rolls in service
@@ATPTransit ah ok cause I am in Tahoe and would love the chance to ride on of them
The Blue Line is just a Spur Extension of the entire system
