Excellent walk! I grew up primarily in BH and have made this walk literally thousands of times as I would walk down Queens Road to the station and take the tube to school (Snaresbrook) and back again every day. The third house on the right at the top of QR was a good friend's home for many years. The first shop on the left at the top of QR was named Silk's for many years. Besides the BH Public Library, I would venture to say all of the shops have changed, some probably many times since I left in 1972. About halfway down, our family dentist had her surgery, but no doubt she retired and is probably deceased by now. My siblings and I called it the "torture chamber". At the bottom of the hill where you turn left to go to the station, the current business is Chruchill Estates, but for several years in the mid to late 1960s it was called Davey's, a toy shop. I spend a large portion of my pocket money there! When I lived there, it was just Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Actual London started around Snaresbrook (E17) or Leytonstone. I am glad you had a nice day to film this walk, as nice weather was pretty rare while I was growing up. I have l lived in west Texas for the past 45 years where we have 340+ days of sunshine every year. I was in BH for a reunion about 20 years ago, doubt I will ever return. Thank you for this "walk" down memory lane.

Horrible little town. No businesses want to open shops there, Full of inbreads who like to gossip, drunks spilling out of the pubs during the day fighting and very dangerous to be at night.

Is it safe for a female to walk alone here during the day?

The bingo hall was originally called "The State". Then, it changed to an ABC. The bus stop was still known as "The State", even after the ABC was closed, and the building was taken over and used as a Mecca bingo hall. The Fulwell Cross Leisure Centre was built nearly 60 years ago, and closed a week later, when my Brother slipped on floor tiles, cracking his head on the hard floor. I can still see and hear it, even now. The entire baths area had to have non-slip tiles laid on all the floors, as a result. Nowadays, an accident like that would result in litigation, but back then? Not even a "Sorry, we goofed" from the local council.

Got a telling off from my mum for sleeping on my aunts doorstep which was half way home, I was only 13 at the time. She wasn’t best pleased.

Found it! Thank you. Two things I kept hoping you would do. One go the sea front, is there no beach there? Never been although born and raised in Harlow before emigrating thousands of years ago (!) to Canada (no sea near where I live in Alberta so really miss it, sand waves etc) yes Leigh (named my son that!) is busy place. I understand the comment about having some commentary but on the other hand it felt it was just me walking there. Secondly kept hoping you’d go inside a pub for a drink!!!! Do you ever do requests? Within Essex I mean? Thank you for this. Really enjoyed it.

Soy de México y estuve en Barnet, en Mayo, ya he estado en Londres antes pero me encantó Barnet, me encantó el clima de esos días, si aman la música vocal o igual si no, acudan en domingo a la iglesia de san Juan Bautista, la que está a la vista, sean o no creyentes, el coro que participa en las ceremonias nos muestra el hermoso arte del canto y armonía vocal, es increíble. El metro te lleva a muchos de los sitios emblemáticos para recorrer a pie desde London eye hasta Chinatown, picadilly, Soho etc etc, es hermoso Londres, ojalá y superen con éxito las crisis por las que hoy en Agosto están pasando, ¡¡AMO LONDRES Y A TODO UK!!.

I am an Englishwoman living in Canada and this video means the world to me as unable to travel back right now, although was there last year..
