😂
That looks absolutely fantastic! A true craftsman can not only fix something but make it look cool at the same time. Great work!
Telecasters are amazing, Jim Root from Slipknot showed the world that teles can shred One day,I will buy a tele, rout it for a floyd rose and put sharktooth fret inlays on it Set the action super low I will also custom make a 28" baritone guitar and fit it with emgs - man this thing will rock
I used to draw up full size plans with a T square using the instrument specs, and use a compass to mark the centre points of the holes to insert the studs Then I'd put masking tape on the body and mark the centre line After that,I'd use my compass to take the measurements from.the full size plans to the guitar, and mark the points to drill.the holes.for the studs Always worked,I even did it for 27" amd other scale lengths It was fun,but your jig looks.better
This guy is a real pro, definitely knows what he's doing !
I found a company about 10 years ago who made tools for lining bridges up and finding center, made out of Plexiglas and they work great. Unfortunately I can't find them anymore so I keep those tools wrapped in bubblewrap when I'm not using them 🤣 Using the yard stick and a TOM is a really great idea I'll definitely try that one thanks for sharing!
I really hope thats not a bronze series guitar, those are infamous for having very soft wood for the body, my wraparound bridge actually pushed in the wood over several years resulting in intonation becoming impossible to do.
Love that bass!
Masterpiece! Keep that headstock in tune baby! Just like my women! Theres no going out of tune now! 😂
Ive heard raising the tail piece makes the guitar sound a little warmer..
Is it possible to do a refret without having to level the frets, because the fretpress presses everything in so accurately ?
SORRY when one bang/press a fret in the wood ,it is not like steel IT MOVES so one will have to level a fret, that is why leo fender put the frets in from the side
@donwalsh4445 Totally unrelated to whar I was saying. I'm talking about fret leveling after pressing in all new frets on a blank fingerboard. They don't move once they're seated properly. This question is about leveling, not hammering or pressing.
@@anpleidhceeireannach9498 WOOD IS NOT STEEL IT MOVE YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS
@@anpleidhceeireannach9498 i'm not putting your tool down...i just said i put the frets in from the side...your tool is great for pressing the fret in
@@donwalsh4445 Properly seated frets don't move.
You really know what you're doing! Incredible,it's as good as a Stew Mac video
Cool to see Ron Jarzombec in the SA Slayer days. He took Billy White's place in WatchTower a couple years later. I asked Jason from WatchTower to sing for Dangerous Toys and we had SA artist Tommy Pons do our first Album cover. Amazing that work has survived.
Great looking bass too
I want this
Glad to see someone post a video like this! I just did something very similar and it worked great. I didn't like all the videos routing down into the headstock near the truss rod- even if you miss the truss rod, the headstock is now weakened and can be broken off much easier. I took pictures of everything I did and was planning on posting a slideshow of it.
But that's for a fender strat without an angled headstock - people rout the fingerboard to widen the nut slot,so it's not really weakening the neck
Ummmm,.... did you just wipe CA glue with your bare fingers, then holding the neck with those fingertips facing you, spray CA glue accelerator?
I know this is a lame question, but would you make a couple of those to sell? 24.75, and 25.5?
i learnt a while ago reading something by fender or jackson guitars about instaling fret from the side...made a tool and been instaling frets from the side ever since they come out perfect don't need to level or anything so this tool will still have the problem of any fret press...the frets will walk UP over time
I think that was Fender
Where is this article that u read and what tool did u make? Also is there a video anywhere showing it being done? Thanks!
@@MetalheadOv666 it was along time ago the article was in a guitar repair book no video i don't think i made a tool that fits me works great NO LEVELING NEEDED you have to use your imagination there should be vid now on the ut
Nice shop. Good job. 👍👍👍👍👍
Top Wrap on tail piece. Problem Solved
I could have used that info a few months ago after many hours of swear words lol
Good info. Also, pretty Les Paul ya got there.
Well you got one view that I wish I could get back...
I have four singlecuts and i did this to one. Ruined my intonation to an unrecoverabel point. Had to swap back If you want easy bends....buy a telecaster witha. Reverse headstock. Trust me
intonation has left the chat
That's how I've been setting my Action , Balance , and my Tension on my ' 96 Gibson Les Paul since I bought it new back in ' 97 . There's a Guy who lives quite close to me who is a Master Luthier . Not only for Guitars , but he also takes care of the local High School and all three Grade Schools . He's a great Guy and he really knows his Craft . Most of what I've learned came from him . But there are things I knew before I bought this Les Paul . For example , I've never had a problem with neat and tidy Wiring . Some of my Friends need to have Solder all over the Pot and the Board in order to finish a Circuit . I guess that's their style . LoL . But the only Guitar Repair that I don't have experience with , that I wouldn't even try is a Re - Fret . If I had the extra Money to spend on purchasing the correct Tools , I would definitely like to give it a go on a Neck that won't be planned for use at some point . But anyway , I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe . 😀🎸😀
Yes. I actually did.
No.
Top wrap for life
Did you know that that "Les Paul" looks exactly like my sub $200 IYV knock off. It is nicely made and is heavy as the real deal, and it's still holding up after a short 3 years or so. I know it's not the point of the video.
I also wrap the post with every bit of string. I don’t cut any off. It’s wild
Yes. I know this. I also put a NOS sticker on it and play 10 times faster now
Love playing Epiphone Les Pauls ever since JC Curliegh Restored Epiphone back to premium in 2019/2020 im a loyal Epiphone man.. Epiphone rules over Gibson once again just like they did in the good o'l days..i have videos posted of my guitars and my 2021 high end Epiphones with specs so there's no debate or arguments about them..
This is great! most players don't know about the tail adjustment and just leave it stock but I always raise mine! Great VID!!!
Great video right to the point
For given note/string size the tension in the string (say over the 12th fret) is exactly the same irrespective of raising the bridge.....therefore bending is exactly the same effort...
Top wrapping helps tuning stability and playability
What effect does this have on tuning stability/intonation?
Just tune it down 100%.
My telecaster bends better 😊
String buzz. I knew I was missing some stash.
I had figured that out for myself but wouldn't have had the language to describe it so well!
Been fighting buzz with one particular guitar for 15 years. To the point where I started shoving bits of rubber into the bridge. This solved everything. Thank you!
Toonomatic?
Or... Hear me out. Don't buy a Gibson! The Les Paul has always been designed for it's intended purpose, a 1950s cheap jazz guitar. Gibson has spent three quarters of a century trying to put a square peg in a round hole. No matter how many you buy you'll never be the rockstar that Gibson gave those players for free..
Top wrapping is better for that
wish I had a LP
People here are failing to understand that the stop tail has to be factored in to scale length. And I'm telling you there's a difference especially when comparing a les paul with a wrap-tail ('53 gold top) with a tune o matic ('55 gold top).
I thought scale was nut to bridge, nothing to do with how far back a string is attached. Your statement makes it sound like the same guitar would be a longer scale if it used a trapeze tail, or a body through mount instead of some stop tail.
Son of a bitch! 🤦♂️ I think this is why I have string buzzing!!!
