Any chance you'd be interested in a small Architectural Competition?
Just sampling the waters, seeing if there's anyone who wants to participate in a small (very small!!) Architectural Competition. More details to follow shortly.

I've more or less finalized my method of placing Windows and Doors and thought I might as well share.
Nintendo 64 Modeling
มุมมอง 4614 วันที่ผ่านมา
Just some "highlights" (What I think is probably the most interesting stuff) while modeling a Nintendo 64 console. I've used plane surfaces where they are obviously not plane in some places, and took a few other liberties. I tried to focus on the more challenging (for me) parts as far as surfaces and transitions go. Want something shown in more detail? Just ask me in the comments!

2024 Recap & 2025 Plans
มุมมอง 5221 วันที่ผ่านมา
This video outlines what I was working on in 2024. One un-finished project and one failed project (that I basically used for most the stock footage throughout the duration of this video). I'd love to hear your feedback and ideas. I'd also love to see your work if it's related to what I'm doing (Rhino or AutoCAD)

Bed Modeling and Rendering in Rhino 8
มุมมอง 84หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I basically just do a voice over of my modeling and rendering process. The real reason for creating these models is because I want to build some sort of library. Every so often I'm going to post videos if I learn a new trick or technique that helps me crank out better models faster.
GstarCAD Setup, Fresh Install (Also Applies to AutoCAD)
มุมมอง 1383 หลายเดือนก่อน
Important notes: Actually setup starts at about 6:00 - I wanted to discuss using GstarCAD instead of AutoCAD and also squeeze in a little rant. Maybe I should have made a separate video for that but here we are ;-) When I install CAD on a new computer I generally follow these steps (not necessarily in order). There are better processes for setting up a new install especially if you have profile...
Basic Rhino 3D Model: Wall Outlet
มุมมอง 623 หลายเดือนก่อน
Just a quick video of me modelling a wall outlet. While not recording I create the slight switch and "double" versions of each quite easily (I could upload that process but it's quite basic, more of the same). It's hard to find models for Rhino so I'm pondering whether or not it's worth creating asset packs. I've been getting really good results (using D5 Render) and can model things quite fast...
Rhino 3D Blender Modelling
มุมมอง 1314 หลายเดือนก่อน
The title might be a bit confusing - I'm just modelling a "blender" in Rhino 3D. Nothing to do with the "Blender" software ;-) . Sloppy upload I know but I really wanted to get something up on my channel. Feel free to ask me any questions if you can't find out how I modelled something. I tried to speed up the "more of the same" stuff. And also clip out the breaks I took while leaving my screen ...
Layer Lock Toggle: Updated Code Shared in Comments
มุมมอง 19910 หลายเดือนก่อน
I thought I did this already! None the less, I'll paste the code in the comments below. This updated version of code gets rid of some redundancy and updates the "layer lock fade" feature correctly... in AutoCAD 2024 at least. Work-arounds such as this will be common challenges when trying to refine/polish of an AutoLISP command.

Here's a link to the AutoCAD object model: documentation.help/AutoCAD-ActiveX-AAG/WS1a9193826455f5ff1a32d8d10ebc6b7ccc-6cb4.htm It's not as clear/helpful as I hoped. But it's still a really good reference. To be honest, the way the lines are drawn to the block table(s) / blockTableRecord(s) confuses me a bit; I probably have to review/study it for myself. This video's real intent is to "gear up...

Thank you so much for the series. Great videos!
Thanks so much for your feedback and congrats on making it to Lesson 8. My math says you're only 5% of people haha! I'd love to make another series someday - Especially now that we can use AutoLISP with AutoCAD LT. My other tutorials didn't turn out as good as this one. I have better tools and a bit more experience. But I would need time and ideas I guess.
Could you please provide us with some more details?
They're coming I just need to finish the model and a few other things. Maybe by the end of the week but I'm hoping for sooner.
@ that’s ok thanks very much for your response 😉
great video, I dont know if this could help but on the template creation I am right now working with some layers thought for even possibly exporting to Revit, but let me know where I could send it
When I said that I wasn't quite sure what I would get someone else to do. I guess I'm just looking for ideas and critique. Or to see if anyone else is actually building a template in Rhino. Or even if people have a use-case for it. I'm also trying to figure out how to get some sort of model library together. I'm getting back into rendering but finding that I don't have the assets I need to populate my scenes. I started creating things (also getting better at things Rhino was actually designed for) but it feels dumb to model things that probably 100 other people created better versions of.
@@randomCADstuffI actually felt a lot like you!! That i was naive just to think that a only Rhino workflow could be done, but got super happy when I ran intoo your profile. Again would be happy to share what I can,
@@Gioelepe Thank-you!! As I further the template I'm going to post more videos like this. And eventually I'll make the template available but for now it's basically just layers.
Hi, Where can I download or purchase the LISP?
Here's the link: keithscadservices.gumroad.com/l/ngbmd Sorry for taking 2 days to get back!!
Hi If you would be interested to dive more into specific topics in revit for clading or and glazed doors windows and curtain walling i could speak abaut it with you behind the scenes. I worked for 10 years as facade designer now in cladding remediation business Im not sure about number of views after all but im 100% sure there is a void you could fill Thanks for your work on and All the best for new year!
I don't have a Revit license and don't see myself getting one anytime soon. With the cost and the actual amount of money I haul in freelancing it doesn't make sense... at least not right now. That kind of surprises me. A company would pay me around $50,000 - $60,000 USD to sit in their office all day and putter around with Revit at a slow pace. But finding freelance work is actually quite challenging. Glazing, cladding and curtain wall design is cool stuff. I'm definitely interested in it and even bought a couple books on the subject, but they weren't that great. Rhino is somewhat popular with Facade design thanks to the parametric aspect (Grasshopper). Many firms that do the wild custom facades list Rhino/Grasshopper in their desired skills. There's even a way to use "Rhino in Revit". It's capable but also turns into a time pit.
It's very impressive that you're doing what REVIT was intended to do, in Rhino. Your stuff looks great and very high quality. As a structural engineer, I can't wait to learn Rhino from you.
Believe it or not back in the day I was a structural drafter. That's how I got into all of this design stuff in the first place. I've always wondered whether or not Rhino would be a good tool for structural engineers. There is Karamba and Kiwi 3D. I've been able to draft small steelwork projects but I think for larger stuff we'd need a big (and expensive) BIM program to stay competitive.
@@randomCADstuff At least at my firm, I've seen Rhino + grasshopper utilized to create parametric solutions for complex geometries. I also especially love Rhino from it's ability to create meshes for 3D FEM models. At the moment I currently have to rely on a coworker of mine to work in Rhino for me, since I am unfamiliar with the software but I hope to learn it for myself one day.
@@bsamexican Back when I worked with Concrete Towers the 2-way slabs were eating up so much time and resources. I had an idea to use Rhino + Karama (or Kiwi 3D) to do the FEM on the slabs and then figure out a way to automatically populate the rebar with proper bar cut-offs... it would save so much time!! I'm far removed from those projects now (well in that capacity at least). I definitely saw the potential. I remember seeing the price tag on some of the higher-end FEM software it can be over $20,000 per year!! Karamba is still under $1,500 :-O . I wouldn't touch the seismic stuff of course. The slabs are key elements obviously but for the most part the loading calculations are less involved than the building's lateral systems... less involved but still time consuming.
Excellent
Undo after use these commands would change the system variable 😅😅😢 mostly I had that. I didn't find any solution instead I use error manager code to trap that.

hi, I loved the video, but I just have a question I have a problem with the part of having different layerstates on the same layout, I have the "apply properties as viewpoint overrides" on, but it changes each time i give a different state on the viewpoint
awesome and more cad stuff please
what is that terrific Font in your Plans, plz?! I've been looking all over 🙂tanx!!
I can't remember where I downloaded this specific font but I do remember it was free and it was called "Graphite MM". Perhaps you can search for that? It's very similar to Adobe's Graphite font. I like the hand-written style but it's hard to find ones that are readable.
thank you for your tutorial I hope upload lisp tutorial more and more because I love it
Thanks for your feedback! I don't program as much in LISP because I grew very accustomed to the built-in LISP editor. Even in 2024 there's few programs that have such a feature. The editor (VLIDE) only comes with AutoCAD's full version which is quite expensive. I wish one of the other CAD programs would create their own built-in editor, or Autodesk include it with AutoCAD LT.
MY DRAG is not working
Are you referring to the 3:00 mark? Are you using AutoCAD or something else? I've used the drag in ACAD '25 it appears to be working.
@@randomCADstuff Dragging does not work after windows 10. Do you know a method for windows 11? Can you help ?
@@kubraburak8111 There could be another way like via a right-click menu - I don't even have an AutoCAD license at the moment unfortunately. In reference to my comment above one month ago: I was able to drag it successfully while running Windows 11 (ACAD '25). I don't doubt your issue exists as Windows 11 is pretty wacky and inconsistent. For me, maximizing and minimizing windows often goes haywire among other things. It's been the most 'broken' Windows version I've ever used.
where might one download the cool Font used in your Planwork, please? reminds me of my long-ago hand-drawn one, kinda 🙂aaaahhh...the good-old days of pencil-on-vellum!! seriously.
please...where can one download the Font used in Planwork? thanks!!
Only recently did I realize that a lot of the fonts I'm using are included with the programs I had installed. The "Stylus BT" font in particular, I can't figure out what program that came with (it has also since disappeared from my computer). Windows doesn't actually include a lot of fonts unfortunately.
Excellent Planwork!!
forget the rest....ActCAD is the BEST (most-affordable!) pro CAD on Earth. Your welcome! 🙂from an old CAD-Designer (since '82). Don't "feed" the greedy "CAD-monsters", kids!! [ pssttt...STOP "apologizing" for this-n-that, and simply verbalize the script you've created to read from. you did that, right? because the audio is all-over-the-place, forgetting the presenter is talking to the whole world, and NOT babbling to themselves!! haaaa...sorry, but best you know now. sub'd/liked, anyway, to see if the awful "style" continues thru-out. Great content, lousy presentation....sorry ]
My intent isn't to be rude but your post does reflect a common style of post by resellers - no objective arguments but rather simply stating their product is "better". If you instead were able to post something more objective it would be very helpful for people trying to pick out an AutoCAD alternative. Better yet if you are not a reseller make a video showing a quick tour of ActCAD (especially in English if possible because I cannot find that). I'm always on the lookout for new CAD programs so I had a look. It is cheap and looks to include lots of features but the big flag I noticed were obvious fake reviews. For example people are writing things that aren't really applicable to your basic everyday AutoCAD tasks/workflows. Aside from fake reviews it's hard to find much information on ActCAD in English which indicates it's not very widely used by English speakers (meaning you're on your own if something doesn't work - but that is often the case with Autodesk products anyways). The issue plaguing the industry is that so many vendors are marketing focused. Nobody wants to do real work and demonstrate objectively that their product will work for their customers. They just want to sucker dumb managers into committing to their products. Vendors that rely on resellers are often the most out of touch. Successful upstarts are actually hiring people to do live demos and prove what the software can do, and even showing how to work around what the software cannot do. I think the title of "Best Value AutoCAD-style Program" is really for the taking right now for whichever company wants to actually look at what their customers need.
funny, I had a really hard time modeling my first fork, the lugged crown seemed to be really difficult to model accurately in rhino
Rhino should actually be way better at it. In hindsight I never should have even gone into this much detail in a Revit model. I need to model a bike like this in Rhino as some point so maybe I could do that in the near future. And I actually have a spare fork in the same room as the computer which I'm sitting at; having a reference object handy makes it so much easier.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have been looking hard for a way to override that annoying F1 with another command!
Thank you so much❤❤
Hello, where are the real-time dimensions?
Where can I obtain the code? This was very helpful
Unfortunately the code is lost. I have made a new improve version which is included with my template: th-cam.com/video/GNQ7n7sM3lE/w-d-xo.html
do you have these lisps available for down load?
interesting workflow! I think the way you overlay shaded and line work gets a nice result. Personally I've always used a block for each story, containing both 2d and 3d. I line up all of them separately for main editing and drawing, while the stacked ones are the assembled building. nice work, keep going!
I'd love to see more of your method. One reason I don't like annotating in Layout Space is when you have things that are annotations, but tied to physical elements. This can include elevation symbols that show the actual elevations and grid lines. I've been pondering ways to make these work. Programmatically I can create elevation symbols in model space (they won't automatically update when changed/moved but I can almost do that as well). Grid lines create a challenge but maybe we could 'tag' them just like we do for windows, walls, floors, etc... The way my house project is set up you could actually annotate similar to what you describe. The 2D line work is laid out flat in the model space (just without the 3D floor elements). I like the block idea. One thing I've had trouble coming to grips with is Rhino's block editing. It's a smooth transition to and from the block editor... a bit too smooth. Nested blocks can especially create confusion. I had some good success utilizing Visual Arq's plan and section views; they (kind of) automatically update. They had a few glitches that they may or may not fix in Visual ARQ 3. With a bit of tuning up that would be the system I use. Without though it's too much working-around.
Great video! Thanks.
THANK YOU
You genius bro! Love your voice tone

Brother I try to drag the same action in the VDO but not the same please show me how to drag it. Thank you
Oh, in waste my time
I was using REA for regenall and nothing was working. Thanks for showing me the REINIT command! Subscribed.
If you close and open AutoCAD it should load the aliases. And if you open a new drawing (I think I can't remember). But ya it's convenient to setup everything in a single session without having to close/open stuff.
Hey man, thanks for the tutorial that I started. I tried to resolve my little issue, but guess that I need your help. In your video, at the minute 8:55, when you split the conic surface and the screw, a very little "open edge" appears, that prevent me further to get the solid closed surface... I tried to link the surface, but it does not work, I guess it is so small... And it alos prevent me to make the boolean operation for the nut. Any suggestion ?
It could be your file tolerance. Check that first. From there, it becomes a series of uglier and uglier solutions starting with exploding the polysurface and using the "join" command. It might be better to start over if that doesn't work. Since posting this I've been looking at McMaster-Carr's database. Their 3D models are really good. There's also the bolt gen app I mention in another video. Those things existing as they do mean this is more of an exercise rather than something you'd use every day. If you can get fast it'll improve your Rhino skills, so don't fret too much about having to start the process from the beginning.
@@randomCADstuff hey, thanks for your reactivity, i fell less lonely in this situation :) I tried your recommandations and unfotunately it does not work, but I learned from it and tolerances parameters. I started again your tutorial since the beginning, and I found my mistake ! Actually, I was using the TRIM tool instead of SPLIT, but result is the same... still having open borders. I used the file in inch as you mentionned and your sizes, that I did not really followed ad I used a file in MM. And in my version I used a 8MM long helix when you use a 77MM one. So i looks like you use a bigger size but I'm not sure this makes the difference as well. Probably the important step is when you place the circle at the INTERSECTION of the helix, at the minute 8:23. As simple as it, now I have a close solide polysurface because I followed your tutorial strictly. THANKS
BTW, the layer state manager happen to have two shortcut keys. One is LAS and hit enter the other one is LMAN and hit enter. Thanks for the video !
HA! Few min in and I can promise you I will watch the whole 4 hrs. Thank you so much for these vids been learning a lot and having a lot of fun making useful tools for work
Thanks for the comment! My videos aren't exactly the crown jewel of AutoLISP resources out there. I originally started making videos basically because nobody else really does - kind of sort of... my aim is to conclude the tutorial with something a person can maybe use in their day-to-day work. As I dabble in other programming languages I've come to realize how good the AutoLISP resources actually are (Start with AfraLISP.NET because it's pretty amazing itself but has links to many other great resources as well).
@@randomCADstuff vids are awesome man and they help a lot of people. Something about programming for cad that helps with your day to day stuff is addicting, I deff got bit by the lisp bug.
Loving it. Looking forwards for more videos.
Thanks for creating these videos. With Acad LT having limited access to AutoLISP it’s good to see the alternatives to via functions
Why don't you use visualarq which have section feature already.
I think I mention that in an earlier video. The vaSectionView (Visual ARQ 2's that is) works really good but also requires more knowledge as well as a VARQ license. I find that it is a little unpredictable in the way it updates. And sometimes it grabs geometry that I would prefer it didn't. And no projected hatches. Using Make2D is slower but somewhat more predictable I guess. Visual ARQ 3 is in Beta and I'm dying to try it out right now but just don't have the time. Rhino 8 has some advantages that negates the need for model space linework, so in R8 my approach might change. If I stayed with R7 this is probably how I would do things.
@@randomCADstuff I also want to try visual arq 3, can you share the downloaded file of visualarq 3.
@@kalpit3d934 I think you have to get in touch with Asuni (The company that makes Visual ARQ) to get the Beta. You also have to have a Visual ARQ 2 license. It's impossible to share.
@@randomCADstuff ok, I will try....
Great stuff, thank you
This is a fantastic series of videos. I'd love to do all my modelling and construction documentation in Rhino, I think its a fantastic piece of software but people tend to look past its capabilities for producing great 2d drawings just because its so amazing at creating organic 3d forms. Thanks for the vids they will help me a lot. Please make more :)
I'll try to find time!! I'm using Rhino 8 now and my process changed, but just a little bit.
Thanks for the vids man, youre helping a lot to improve my codes to Visual Lisp. It makes many things way simpler.
Thank-you! Hopefully I'll have time to make more videos in the future :-) .
I recently had a need for bolts. Used BoltGen with Rhino3d v8. Seemed to work very well, other than the 'specialty' option. Got around that by creating the closest diameter to what i needed with the desired pitch and then a 2D scale to get the desired final diameter. Worked well for the 3D printing that I needed.
Glad to hear it worked and thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
