Welcome to my channel!
My name is Brad and I love all things on wheels! In these videos I will provide tips and tricks on owning, maintaining, and doing both beginner and advanced mechanical work on your car/bike so you can keep enjoying them. My hope is to inspire others to pick up their tools by demystifying the unknown when it comes to taking your precious (and often pricey!) car apart and putting it back together!
My own passions involve my 2002 Honda S2000 (AP1) which I have owned for over 12 years now! Check out my video where I describe my experience. And others on the work I do to keep it going!
I also ride a 2008 Ducati 848 that I bought new. Ten years and still going strong!
And check out the channels I feature on the right; these are the wonderful folks who I follow and who have inspired me to create and maintain my channel! So much knowledge to gain and share using the best medium for it: TH-cam!

#shorts #Tesla supercharging in the bitter cold! How bad is it? Or is it?
Hi all! These TH-cam shorts are awesome for me to quickly upload content! Maybe I'll do it more again :)
This is a short video made the day after my oddball experience with -30 (see previous short!). Here I attempt to Supercharge the car while it is just slightly warmer. Remember I live in Canada so this is pretty typical of what you can expect weather-wise.
I absolutely adore this car, but I do want to share my experiences honestly and without bias! Thanks again for watching!

#shorts #Tesla in the Extreme Cold Strange Issue!
มุมมอง 68311 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi all! This miserable arctic cold snap has made us all pretty grumpy I'm sure! Now I still adore my Tesla (Model 3 Performance), but something happened the other day that I did not expect. I was driving with just over 100km of range left, in about -30 weather, and I could not accelerate! Strange. The car moved of course, but would not make it over about 90km per hour! Have a look to see what h...
EV efficiency? How does the Tesla's first 7000km/4 months compare with the Clarity?
มุมมอง 5812 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey folks! Since I'm still COVID-positive I had some time to make another video :P In this one I compare the efficiency of the Tesla's first four months vs. the Clarity's lifetime EV (only) performance. Note this comes down to math i.e. km/kWh efficiency. Translated into price per km at my kWh rate. I was surprised! Watch to the end for the full story! And thanks for all of your views and comme...

Zero bars! And range during the latest cold snap!
มุมมอง 3453 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi folks! For the first time with the Clarity the batteries went down to absolute zero bars! I was worried something was wrong with the charge system and/or the charge "controller." Have a look to see if this has happened to you! Also stick around to the end to see my actual range in the -18 degree weather! Hope all is well everyone! -Brad

Hi folks, In this video I hate to say I got "political," because in truth I didn't. Rather, I jumped into a situation that has become "politicized." To me they are not the same thing. I spent far too long in University, but the outcome of that is I have a deep respect for hard science, the seeking of the realities about our world, and of the hard work that goes ...

Shopping for a Prius Prime? Here's an alternative you may never have heard of!
2024 price is more than $1300 to replace the mirror. I bought a used right mirror for $450 on eBay and spent less than an hour to install it. Overall not a difficult project. Saved $900 doing it myself
Love mine and have over 100k miles on my ‘18 touring. My gripes: 1) incessant high rpm on hills (have to switch in and out of EV/Hybrid mode to trick it. 2) when ice comes on, won’t go back to EV mode right away (think they may have fixed this on an update recently) 3) tiny bladder (washer fluid reservoir) 4) declining range (we had battery pack tested just before warranty ran out and it was within normal degradation, but just barely)
I did broke my clarity's mirror on a recycle bin and looking for DIY solution:) Thanks for your video!
Manual that came with car SUCKS. How do you turn off ACC? Can't stand it. Just want normal cruise control.
What about gearbox oil change ?
I take full advantage of all charging I charge while idleing some say it's bad but why did they make it then lol
It was a really crappy mirror design. Someone fell against mine and it broke in the same way. Dealer quoted me $1,400 to replace (passenger side with the camera). I've been having a hard time finding a used mirror online but I think I finally found one. I've taped mine up with duct tape so much that it basically is just a gooey mess at this point. Thank you very much for the video!
Does the 21/22 1.5t accord have oil dilution issues I know the 18/20 had oil dilution issues
Doors has to be locked
Try not to say Uh and um so much. Thanks for the video
Hi brad! How did you removed the knee plastic cover?
Hi Brad. You mentioned several times that you will see air bubbles due to air coming in through the bleeder nipple. My question is how do you know that is where the air is coming through versese there being air in the system? Thanks!
Fuel distributor 3mil hex tool open close the bowl a little
Honda used to make great cars. I was looking to buy a 10th gen hatchback but after intense research I decided not to because of this oil dilution issue. Do you know if they fixed this issue on the 11th gen hatchbacks? I still need to do research on those but I heard they fixed the issue with those
Pet peeves with mine… after 5 years 1) Not safe when it rains… car damn near hydroplanes when water is “pushed” underneath it. 2) Mine has a gas tank issue where when I put gas in it the pump stops like it’s full… even after they supposedly replaced it when it was under warranty. I hate going to get gas 3) Range never matches how far you can go 4) When you charge it the charge dies when you unplug it when you haven’t driven it 5) It sometimes sounds like it’s going uphill on the regular street. Don’t know how else to describe it. Then it goes back into the right gear on its own. I had 2 Honda Crosstours prior to this and absolutely LOVED them. I hope they come back!
I would venture to say number 1 is 100% your tires. Get some cross Climate 2s and you won't have any issues with just about any weather. The clarity performs just like my accord in wet weather conditions as it has basically the same wheels and tires my accord did. Not trying to discredit your claims and the others are definitely valid gripes to have, however if your far is very poorly handling the rain I'd rather you be safe.
Back again. Still no issues. I switched to castrol only. Stopped using honda filters since discovering fram makes them. I use baldwin filters, Purolator boss, and FULL, oil filters. I also recommend changing the pcv valve every 25k.
What about that it doesn’t have a spare tire, that would be my number 1
How do I just turn on the ac?
A simple tool for a simple test will show you if you need to change your fluid. 9 yrs on my Tesla and it is still good. Don't waste your money buy the tester do the test every year and change when needed.
'Promosm' 🤷
nope. My oil dilution problem not fixed on my 2020 Honda Sport 1.5t. Oil and gas is up to very top edge of orange plastic on dipstick. Maybe at least 1/4 inch to high. I drive several 5 to 10 mile long trips a day. I drive like a teenage maniac. So what they say about problem being solved by driving harder to warm up engine faster seems to be not accurate. I also live down south in Louisiana. So Global warming does not solve problem either. May try heavier weight oil as I have seen on a youtube video where guy said that worked for him on his 1.5t.
I just test drove a Clarity, it was running on gas, the high rpm of the engine was annoying while accelerating moderately. It’s been at the dealership for 3 months and wasn’t charged. I also drove a Chevy Bolt and while the ride in the Clarity was better the low noise level in the Bolt has me leaning towards it.
This is the video that pushes me from Prius Prime to Clarity
I bought this car in 2019 knowing that I would be going to Florida several times in the winter. The 2/3 of the trip is in the cold in early January and the return in early March. I live in Quebec City and have to drive 1800 mi to get there. In 2019, charging a real electric car every 150 miles is very time-consuming. On the way to Florida, I fill up the gas tank in 5 minutes every 220 mi. If I sleep en route, usually 2 times, I fill up the battery the night before leaving and 2 times en route during the night at the hotel. In Quebec City, 80% of the mileage is urban and I use very little gas. For the 20% on the road, it consumes as much as a Toyota Corola hybrid. The Honda Clarity is an efficient compromise. In 3 years, I'll be too old to make the trip to Florida. 80% of my mileage will be in Quebec City. In conclusion, I would have regretted buying an electric car in 2019. I much prefer my Honda Clarity. It's a very comfortable car. I have the most luxurious model and the interior is closer to an Acura than an Accord. Can any Clarity owner comment on how comfortable the cabin heat is in sub freezing temperatures? Thanks
Hi, I am a former Chevy Volt owner. In fact I had 2 2012s but sold them. I hated the cabin heater, not only did the winter efficiency go down but I never felt warm in sub freezing temperatures. How is the Clarity?
Winter efficiency always goes down with batteries. Sucks on full EVs with like 40% shorter range
Ur putting the miles/distance left smdh. Thats like putting how many minutes of talk time u have on ur phone. Stick to percentages.
No I was showing how fast it was charging in km per hour. I compare it to how many km I gain per hour (as a rate of charge) in the cold vs. warm. It is an apples to apples comparison.\
Sure, you’re charging in your home garage. And that’s the reality for lots of current, particularly wealthier EV owners. It’s a system - the charging infrastructure and the vehicles. In the same way an IC vehicle and the fuel stations are. The IC system is highly, highly reliable, efficient to use and effective to accomplish the task. It meets the needs of all forms of users - rich, poor; homeowners, renters, commuters, people traveling, in virtually all weather, all geography and terrain, etc etc. The only drawback are the greenhouse gas emissions involved. If the EV system is to replace the IC system it needs to be all those things. It appears the EV System has lots of growing pains, gaps and drawbacks. A concerted effort needs to be made by all involved to dramatically improve the system before a very large segment of the public will consider switching from an IC vehicle. It’s not enough to say “it’s better for the planet” if it impacts my freedom of movement, my life and potentially my livelihood (if I can’t get to work, get home, etc). I hope we see massive efforts and investments to improve the whole System - and Asap.
I am problems with mine too I have 2017 crv
The dots on the power band is the car telling you there is a power limit. If the car was left outside at -30, the battery temperature is definitely going to be stone cold. Drive it a bit (or navigate to supercharger)and the drivetrain will warm up and the power limit will go away in 15 minutes. You can also preheat the cabin and battery before departing if you have a charger at home.
Hey Brad - good to see you're back! I was sooo very tempted to buy a Clarity back last year thanks to your vids, but I'm now solidly on the EV bandwagon. Thanks for showing the Tesla in the "real" cold. We got close to -50 on the outskirts of Edmonton over the weeked. I've been renting Teslas and Polestars whenever I travel for work and had a long range Model Y in Ontario for a few weeks last month. At -10C-ish it was perfectly fine. Tesla with their charging network was hands-down the winner there. CCS DCFC has been problematic when I needed it. What do they charge for supercharging here in Alberta? I supercharged the MY almost daily (I had a 200+ km drive every day) in Mississauga and it was surprisingly expensive at 68c/kWh at peak times.
Hey hey Brad nice to have you back, try the preheat fonction before you leave it also heats up your battery, kind regards Albert
I tried that also! -30 was hard! But once it was on the road for another ten minutes it came back as normal.
A cold battery will do that, -30 pretty cold@@BradOnCars
Hey Brad! Good to see you're back! The coldest temperature that i've driven my Model 3 is -20C last year with no issues. It doesn't get that cold anymore here in Montreal. Was your car parked outside or in a garage?
This time it was outside for the full -30 effect! Bit of an experiment. It lives in the garage almost exclusively which makes everything just fine. Thanks for the note! All the best in 2024!
Wow not a good sign! What other issuve you had?
Is tire removal required for brake bleed on a Honda Fit? Does Honda require tire removal for brake bleed service performed at a Honda Dealer?
Tires are generally removed for access convenience. You may be able to get to the bleeder screw behind each tire without removing them.

My 2018 honda clarity touring has power seats
How'd this end up holding together? I just broke my mirror off after dropping a paddleboard on it. I glued the pillar though..........maybe I should have glued the base as you did. IDK, it's currently drying, so if the pillar doesn't work, I can go back and re-try it this way.
Why is Honda putting 1.5 Turbo engines in the (2022-2024) Civic Touring if they're not good engines??
My friends 16 crv blew up with 90k miles. Bottom end knock😢 . After his 3rd one he listened to me and got a new rav-4
Yep, I did mine on a trash that was left out on the street by some moron.
Imagine this, the new Prius Prime pretty mush has the same performance with much smaller interior that costs 1/3 more as much right now with the dealer markups or twice as much more if you are in California. If you bought it right before the pandemic, then you got the best deal of the decade for a car!😊
Nice video As a “driving life long” Honda owner; Honda decided to join the rest of the gang by going to a tiny motor that is turbo charged and is now paying the price Even if there was no oil dilution issues I would not buy one of these motors as these motors work sooooo hard that good luck getting a long life out of them….All in the name of getting an extra mile or two or three in the MPG numbers Very sorry to see Honda having gone this route
Best car ever.
Hi there sir. Just wondering how u like your model 3 and how many miles? Are you having any issues. I still have Honda clarity and still going great at 23k miles. But I am interested to learn more about Tesla M3 since in the United States we get a federal tax rebate.
My trunk lid collects water, which pours out into the truck. Wondered if you had heard of this. Flows out of each side around the covered lid posts/arms. I can only think of replacing the rubber seal.
Did you drive it in January? My Clarity hates being really cold.
Hello friend, could you make a video changing the rear brake pads and how to do it?
I heard that there is an issue of head gasket blowing on the Honda 1.5 turbo engine.
