How to Cook Tofu and Pork Sukiyaki-Don | Inspired by Culinary Class Wars 흑백요리사
Hi everyone and welcome to Omamakase!
Towards the end of Culinary Class Wars on Netflix, the remaining chefs were challenged to make creative dishes using tofu. The dish I made on this video was made by one of the chefs who currently owns a Japanese restaurant. It looked simple and delicious so I challenged myself to make it for my family.
After researching and several practice rounds, I was able to come up with a good recipe for the sauce that satisfied my family's taste. The potato starch battered tofu came out really delicious with both slightly chewy outside and soft inside which was soaked with the sweet and savory sauce.
Also, the tender and juicy pork shabu shabu slices were cooked to perfection soaking up all of the delicious sauce with the red onions giving it extra sweetness and texture.
For garnish, I used an egg yolk and chopped green onion adding both creaminess and refreshing taste to each bite.
Blooper confession - I tried to make the Japanese onsen eggs so that's why there are 4 eggs showing in a glass bowl on some of the shots but they all came out quite undercooked. I thought I had practiced enough but used too many eggs at once. That's why I ended up using only an egg yolk for the garnish at the end. Forgive me for not perfecting the onsen egg. Haha.
I really encourage everyone to try making this delicious Tofu Pork or Beef Sukiyaki for your family and friends!
Always, thank you everyone for watching and please leave a comment and I'd love to answer any questions.

มุมมอง 21K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hi everyone and welcome to Omamakase ☺️ In continuation of the previous Mapo Tofu video which was inspired by Culinary Class Wars / Netflix, our family was also curious about the Mala Cream Shrimp Dim Sum. That led me to make the crunchy shrimp dim sum for this video. We’re not used to the spicy mala sauce so we used the sriracha mayo instead which went perfectly with the shrimp dim sum. It cam...

Amazing, can you please make othrr recipes from this show too.
Of course and please watch the previous Mapo Tofu and most recent Tofu/Pork Sukiyaki-don videos. Thank you so much for watching! 🩷
Thank you so much ❤😊
Thank YOU for watching! 🩷 I’m glad you enjoyed the video. ☺️
Great ideas, what's memmi? ❤
Thank you for watching! 🩷 MEMMI is a Kikkoman noodle soup base which I often use when I’m cooking because it’s much less salty and sweeter than regular soy sauce.
Hello new subscriber I’ll be making that today thank you so much for the recipe and sharing it with everyone!!!❤❤
Thank you for watching and subscribing.🩷😃 Every subscriber means to me. I’m so glad that you liked the recipe. I’m working on a new recipe which will be posted sometime later this week. Hope you’ll enjoy that recipe as well. Much appreciated!!! 💕
Nice!
Thank you for watching! 🩷
I really want to try this but I'm allergic to shrimp 😭😭😭
Thank you for watching! 🩷 I’m sorry to hear that…😥 You should maybe try making it with ground pork and just make sure to cook it long enough at low heat since it might take longer to cook fully than shrimp.
You could try to make it with chicken breast. Yet, add mayo into the paste for juicier.
How to make the mala sauce?😊 You did not show...😊
Thank you for watching! ☺️ My daughter wanted to eat it with sriracha mayo instead so we didn’t make the mala cream sauce. 😬
@@theOmamakase Oic....thank you!
do you know what i should substitute with lotus roots?
Thank you for watching! You can always substitute lotus roots with Dynasty sliced bamboo shoots or Dynasty sliced water chestnuts in small cans. Those should be available at most of the markets.
hi.. your new friend here 😃👋 I really enjoy your video, and the recipe is easy to follow. thanks for sharing it with us..
☺️😍 Thank you for your kind and encouraging words! Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any specific recipes that you would like to see on my channel.
Thanks
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy the recipe.
I just watched it today an dwanted to make it too
Thank you for watching! 🩷 You should definitely try making it. I’ve never made this before watching the show but it was actually easier than I thought. As long as you cut the spring roll wrapper as thin as possible and keep the oil temperature not too high, it should come out crunchy and delicious. 😋
@@theOmamakase will try today 😊
Good Work bro
Thank you!☺️
this looked tasty n helps when the family approves first!!... I enjoyed the show n how great from someone who has a natural nack for cooking from anime books n comics.... funny when I was growing up it wasn't 'cool' to be into those things really but I didn't care n happier for it making me waaay more caring n empathetic twords others!!... paved n played-out the way it should as I became a loving well paid graffiti artist!!... I say this more because it was tough growing up when I did n you mentioned your family n I see what my friends young ones deal with these days n it's a lot though between having open dialog n knowing family is there nomatter what helps more than some could realize!!... side note I was disappointed to not see more of our beloved seonkyoung longest n thought she gave the judges fun textures frying the noodles in her dish n hoped she would've moved into the next round but we LoVe her anyways n always!!! I'm glad she had the opportunity to be on the show n I'm sure she was proud to represent the korean americans while cooking on a netflix show in korea!!... nothing like coming full-circle.... happy finding your channel!!... I do appreciate you putting the recipe up (I believe them to be more guidelines but for those that are learning how to cook n use ingredients it's absolutely vital!!) many thanks n be well.... ❤️🍚❤️
