That was unfortunate timing.

Regarding the penalty to Apfelback. First off I am a fan of both of these drivers. Apfelback is very "heady", and patient driver and not prone to errors in judgement. Clover is dependable and consistent front runner at this track and i enjoy watching her run. with that said, penalizing #34 Apfelback for causing Clover in the #1 car to spin was questionable. The track was as rough as it has been in a long time and all the cars were waggling through the turns. I saw several cars jump out 2 or more lanes exiting the turns without moving the wheel. She appeared to be well beneath the #34 in the middle of the turn but due to the condition of the track jumped up about a half a lane and made contact before doing that slow spin. Seems to me the # 1 car could have avoided the contact by getting off the throttle a bit sooner. I mean the #34 was clearly 3/4 of a car length ahead at the time of the accident. That looked like a racing incident between 2 cars racing for the lead on a very bumpy track.
