I like to fish 🤠
Topwater Enthusiast
I love creek fishing or river fishing. The exploration of a new creek is definitely my favorite. I mostly target smallmouth and largemouth bass but I do like going after northern pike and panfish on occasion. If you are new here, topwater is my go to type of fishing. I can't get enough of those explosions on top. Frog fishing is probably my favorite. For creek fishing, river fishing, pond hopping and the occasional kayak video be sure to subscribe.

BIG Creek Smallmouth Bass on the Whopper Plopper !
That is a cool honey-hole pond. I wish I had access to one of those. I bet the bite has picked up since the nights have been a little cooler. I've been addicted to topwater since watching your videos!!! I would hate to be a frog in that pond. That was a cool hit at 10:15.
Thanks Ron! Hahaha happy to get you addicted. Yeah the bite has been strange actually. Every pond is really different on how the fish move and what patterns they are on. Went to a different place today and it was really tough to catch a few. But it's been getting to 90 here. Crazy last heatwave of the year. Thanks for watching 👊
Nice! Fished that river for the first time recently. Saw a TON of old beds. Want to come back next spring when the big ones are hanging around.
Thank you! Yeah this is an older video of mine but I also recently started exploring more on the kish. All over really. There are so many branches and creeks that run off the kish, it's really cool. It's a great river. Some sections are loaded with pike which makes it fun. Good luck next time! Thanks for watching 👊
just the way we like it, sloppy.
HaHhaHa oh yeahhh! Totally true. That was some thick stuff that day. Thank you for watching 👊
Boy that snot was thick. Bye bye, plopper.
Awesome !
Thank you cheese !
I've launched so many lures like that lol. it sucks when its your brand new one, but the all suck actually. Awesome video!
Thanks man ! Yeah I was happy to get at least 50+ fish off that one. Usually with ploppers the prop in the back gets messed up before you lose it. But it's all good. That one served me well this year hahaha. Hope to go back and find it on shore somewhere lol. Thanks for watching 👊
Seems like a cool working frog lure. Man that pond is stacked. Keep up the good content
Thanks bro ! Yeah it's a fun frog, not sure if I like it enough to fish it more next year but it was fun trying something new. I love that pond. Thanks for watching 👊
I think you could find the plopper. It looks like it landed near the shore, + it should float. Hopefully a bass doesn't hit it if it's floating around, lol. That happened to me in July with a top water frog. My alberto knot must have not been tied properly, and it undid. I saw the frog floating. I retrieved it, but I was worried a bass would take it before i could go get it 😅!! There's some good looking bass in that little pond. Nice video brother!!
You saw a wolf pack?
Thanks Henri ! Yeah I probably could have gotten that back but over on the other side I think is private property. I got permission to fish the one side by a couple home owners and the one side is backed up to a road so it's fair game. So I can only fish 2 sides of the triangle lol. But yeah I wish I could get it back, hope a bass doesn't take it down and get stuck. It's a fun little honey hole for sure! And yeah I seen a wolf pack of bass hahaha. Like 5 of them together cruising. I just like to say wolf pack hahaha. Thanks for watching 👊
@reelfeelfishing haha, I was thinking, dang, watch your back with those wolves! 🤣
IMHO 20lb braid is too small for a baitcaster, generally speaking. Not because it’s not strong enough but because it’s too thin. It wedged down between its own wraps and got stuck on that cast, the weak spot then became your knot when the line wouldn’t release. Additionally, braid isn’t the best line for topwaters anyway (frogs aside) because there’s not enough stretch. Treble hook baits, especially topwaters, need more stretch/flex in the system to give over to the fish. I’ve been been using 12/14lb mono for 35 years of serious bass fishing including tournaments and don’t remember the last time I broke a fish off with it, so it’s plenty strong. I use it for everything other than frogging and heavy flipping. Everyone and their brother says they need braid but no one ever says why and can’t explain what braid is/isn’t good for. It’s a tool like anything else: great for some things, terrible for others. Hopefully it his helps. 🤟🤟
Thanks for the info! I'm a firm believer in braid for topwater when paired with the right rod. A lot of people I know use a MH rod with 10-14lb mono like you said less bend in rod but has stretch in line. Totally understandable. But I use a medium rod with 20-30lb braid and never have an issue of losing fish. More bend in the rod and no stretch on the line. It's always worked for me. The lure snapping off like that, definitely happened because what you said however that happens to me maybe once every 5 years. I've been using 20lb-30lb braid for topwater for years as long as it's paired with a medium rod. But I definitely do use a MH with 12lb mono when I know I'm going back and forth with topwater and something below the surface like when I'm out wading with just one rod. So I see what your saying for sure but when I'm strictly throwing topwater with just that rod I love a medium with braid, I never lose fish. Froggin we all can agree on that you need atleast a MH but my opinion a Heavy is better with 50-65lb braid is key. But then again I know people that throw frogs on 30lb braid and they say it's fine. I guess it depends on how thick the stuff is. Thank you for the information and thanks for watching! I appreciate these long comments cause I actually enjoy talking fishing 👊
What a beautiful day to be out fishing and as usual, plenty of action for you. Too bad about that snapped line and learned a new term, "Shamu'd" LOL Great to see the topwater hits, great job Jared!
Hahaha shamu'd that topwater bait!!! Love it! Yeah those bass were hitting it hard just a lot wouldn't take it down. But still a lot of fun just catching some. Good way to end out summer. Fall here we come! Thanks for watching 👊
That casting went really far before your line snapped.😢 At 8:52, nice dark coloured bass 🤩 A lot of nice bass in this pond. Nice video!🎣🐟
Thanks Sue ! Yeah that was a bummer that happened. 12$ lure gone hahaha. And I like this pond a lot. It use to be much better but still really fun. Thanks for watching 🙌
Gotta be Michigan waters....smallie and color of river water😊
Close! It's Wisconsin. The peshtigo river. Beautiful water and awesome colors to the smallies. Full video is linked to the short. Good times! 👊
A frog lure that wants to do the backstroke... that's a first! Hauled in some nice ones my friend. That Bear game Sunday was both good and bad. Anxious to see if they make any improvements this weekend. Take care Jared👍
Hahahaha yeah not too sure about this frog. I got some other frogs that could be better. And man that game was sad... our offense has so much talent and it was wasted game 1. It was a typical bears win and what we've seen the last 20 years. Winning on defense and special teams. Happy they won but not how they won. Hope Caleb can get his life together lol. Thanks for watching 👊
Great explanation about the retrieve, gear, and snag proof frog. Beautiful bucket mouths!
Thanks Todd! Yeah it's a pretty sweet frog, hope to get to use it more soon. Hope the info helps someone out there. Thank you for watching 👊
Nice!🐟🎣
Thank you Sue! 🙂
dragging em through the salad..go get em!!
Hahaha oh yeah!!! 🙌 love it when you can get on a good frog bite. Thanks for watching 👊
Well, well, well. Monster fish man. Interesting looking little frog. I may have to pick one up. I haven’t had a top water bite in a while 😂 😂. I may throw a frog at the little pond because it looks similar to your spot right now.
Thanks man! Yeah they are pretty cool. First time using them so hope to get some more use with it before topwater season is over. I have a couple of favorites so not sure if this will get into the rotation but we will see. Good luck with topwater if you go ! Thanks for watching 👊
Pros and Cons for sure with a frog like that. Definitely nice to be able to have a frog that can just get through slop like that, though. Caught some tanks so that was good, despite the misses. I JUST started throwing frogs this year. I need to get a broomstick and I'll be doing a lot more of it next year. I like Smallies, but frog fishing is just so fun.
Thanks Bryan! Yeah it's almost a guarantee that you'll lose or miss fish when you go out frog fishing but man is it fun to watch the hit. It was a nice frog to try but there's a few others out there that I really like. Thanks for watching 👊
Nice session with that frog and always good to get a little salad with your fish LOL Love watching you fish those ponds, always seems to be productive. Great job Jared!
Thanks Larry ! Yeah it's so fun frog fishing. Just waiting for the blowup hahaha. And yeah pulling all that salad off and then there's a fish in it hahaha. Thanks for watching 👊
Broom stick 😆 nice setup 👍 Dude….such beautiful bass! Great tips Jared, I never caught a fish on the frog. Bummer the one u lost that felt nice. Great video as always brother 👊
Thanks Chris! Oh man yeah it's a rush when you frog fish. The anticipation kills hahaha. So much fun! Yeah I started to lose fish in the back half of the video. Think I ended up losing a couple good ones but caught some good ones too. So I'll call it 50% but that's frog fishing for you lol. Thanks for watching 👊
Great fishing J!
Thank you Becca! Thank you for watching 🙌
Nice frog lure! The bass likes it!🐟nice trick, the loud noise to capture their attention!🎣great video!🤩
Thank you Sue ! Yeah hopefully those tricks help people out. It's an adrenaline rush when you go frog fishing hahaha. Thank you for watching 👊
Perfect application for the frog in that Beast filled pond. That’s an exciting outing ⭐️💥🎣
Thanks Ron! It was a lot of fun pulling them through the muck hahaha. Nice testing out a new frog. Thank you for watching 👊
Great video - just subscribed. I think you must be close to me in DuPage County as I recognized some spots. I hope to see you on the water - especially wadding for smallmouth - Godspeed brother!
Thank you! Yeah I fish all over Illinois and Wisconsin. I'm in Dupage County sometimes but pretty much all over Central Illinois to Northern Illinois. I do some stuff in Wisconsin around winnebago and green bay area too. But yeah wading for smallies is definitely my jam! Fun times for sure. Hope to see you out there too. Thank you for the support and watching 👊
Awesome smash 💥⭐️🎣
Thanks Ron! 👊
That was pretty sick!!
Thanks Henri ! 👊
heck yeah!
🙌 good times !
Screw that guy. His wife probably cheated on him with a bass fisherman!
Heck yeah, great strike and fight!
Thanks Todd ! 👊
Great video
Thank you ! It's fun walking those creeks. Thanks for watching 👊
Crazy to see that water holding fish like that dude. I'm sure you came across a lot of crawdads too with all that river rock. I saw them ALL over the place when I attempted "wade fishing" when I was in Tn lol.
Yeah it's pretty cool cause you never know what you might catch! And yeah crawdads everywhere lol. Some smallies even spit them up when you catch them cause they feast on them so much hahaha. Thank you for watching 👊
Tough to fish water that tight, but you make it look easy. Good fish to finish on!
Thanks Ryan! Yeah its a lot of fun. Never really know what you're gonna get. Good times. Definitely makes a person better at casting and helps with accuracy. Thank you for watching 👊
Skinny water creek wading..go get it big guy!!
So much fun! I love walking the creeks. It helps a lot with casting accuracy. Good times for sure. Thank you for watching 👊
Nice fish caught! 🎣🐟
Thank you Sue !
Enjoyed checking this out buddy! Good job out there! Cool looking place!
Thanks David! This creek is a blast! Fun area for sure. Love walking it. Thank you for watching 👊
Nice catches bro. For a little creek that place has good smallies in it.
Thanks man ! It's a lot of fun walking it. It's a nice variety for sure. Any fish is cool with me though. Thanks for watching 👊
Beautiful fishing J!
Thank you Becca! I appreciate that big time! Thanks for watching 🙌
Nice video brother
Thank you Ted! Some super skinny water hahahah. Love it. Thanks for watching 👊
Awesome sesh on the ol’ crick, broski! 🙏🏻🎣🔥🤘🏻
Good times for sure! They still surprise me when I get bit in odd places. But it's good to see them still swimming around in 6 inches of water. Thanks for watching bro 👊
Yeahhhh buddyyyyy 🎣
Get itttttttt ! First time hopping in a creek this year. So much fun. Thanks for watching Lee 👊
Summer topwater is a special season. That is a cool stream. I seem to remember those spots from last Summer video? So cool getting so much topwater action 💥⭐️🎣
It sure is Ron! I haven't been able to do nearly as much fishing this year but it's a lot of fun throwing topwater in creeks or rivers. And yeah this is from a video last year. It's probably one of my favorite creek stretches. I do it a lot. Good times! Thank you for watching 👊
That was really cool, that Bass from the intro really wanted that "Plopper". Loved you talking us through what you were trying to do and how to go about fishing that small creek. Some nice catches and that one under the bridge was fiesty. Awesome job Jared!
Thanks Larry! Yeah they get aggressive in that skinny water fighting for stuff hahaha. It's good times. I could have used a smaller bait and probably caught a lot more but I was looking for those bigger ones. Hope the hints help people. Thanks for watching 👊
Good stuff brother.
Thanks Dennis ! Super shallow right now but still can get into some deeper pockets. Fun stuff! Thanks for watching 👊
Nice video!
Thank you ! It's a lot of fun wading creeks and throwing topwaters. Thanks for watching 👊
Very nice bass fishing! The hoodie you wear in August keeps you warm. I noticed here in my area, the temperature changed and I enjoy more now outdoors. You do have a nice active fishing spot! 🐟🎣
Thanks Sue! Yes I love September and October. Fall is my favorite time of the year. Love those 50-60 degree days. Thank you for watching 🙌🙂
another good outing.
Thank you ! Good times bouncing around that craw. Thanks for watching 👊
Caught some nice ones. Agree with you, can't beat it when August has a taste of Fall in it!
Thanks Ryan! And yeah it has been a beautiful August so far. Unfortunately the end of the week it gets back into the high 80s but around here we've had 2 straight weeks of low 70s and the mornings are in the low 50s. It's like late September already hahaha. Thank you for watching 👊
