I treated myself to one this month and I love it. I bought it after I’d committed to TN sized books (Sterling Ink) for planning this year, but it doesn’t matter because they fit perfectly. I have an A5 sketchbook at the back. Apparently, they used to do an A5 slim, but they don’t do them anymore. If they make them again, I’d have it in a heartbeat.
Im loving mine so much im wondering if I could get a small without The Wife noticing hahaha
What is size this mini notebook ?
It’s an A6 Size and a great little book :) I Picked it up on amazon - amzn.to/40g1Y3i
So glad you're enjoying it! Expensive, yes, but fantastic quality. Should last a lifetime!
It is wonderful and every time i pick it up im blown away by the feel of it :)
Beautiful!! Looks great 👍 Looks like it’s breaking in well.
Yeah the leather on it is brilliant and looks like it will age well 👍
Great! I almost bought one year ago… but could not find a way to order it in Ukraine. I wonder if that metal thing doesn’t bother you when you come to a middle of an insert?🤔
I think because it's so easy to remove a book I will just pop them out while I write when near the middle 👍
I just put the metal clip in a different spot to write. Also, I tend to use them as bookmarks .
@@Higgler16 oh that’s a great idea 👍
People talk about "grail pens" all the time but that is my "grail" notebook right there.
I must admit I was very very unsure about the spend but 100% happy I did it's wonderful.
I have the Lamy 2000 in stainless steel because I like a bit of weight to my pens. It‘s one of my favorites.
Ive been actively using it more and starting to love it more :)
A slip and zip! Great name. Looks like it would make a great To-Do list or shopping list and receipt holder. Very nice
Thanks yeah its a great little edc for shopping i guess
I too, am a fan of Galen Leather. I have two pen cases and two notebook covers. Excellent products.
They are great and feel like thy will last for ages, Ill be handing them to my kids all been well :)
Maybe I missed it, but can you show the reverse of the page for the writing sample? It's always good to see if the ink bleeds through, and how much it ghosts. I'm glad the ink seems to behave on the front side, but that's only half of the story. Love the design aesthetic of Atoms to Astronauts and have had them on a list to investigate for a while.
Ah good point not 100% sure I showed it. I'll try get some pictures later and put them on the community post thing 🤣
There's a similar website called Cognitive Surplus that has a lot of science-y notebooks with really beautiful designs. The paper is a bit thinner (I think 81 gsm?) and only around 100 sheets, but they feel quite nice and have a great aesthetic. I love the one you showed here, so I'll have to check them out!
I bought the same one and yours is the best video on it for beginners! But I love the colour you have, it seems much lighter than the one I received. I can not find any other color in their range though. Dark color puts me a bit off but its a good one for beginners!
I must admit if they did a lighter leather this might be even better :) I love my Camel TN
@manvstationery right! I ended up returning this yesterday and kept the wanderings journal. It is soft leather and I feel I will open it more often lol.
To quote Taylor Swift.....Ooh Look what you made me do! Used your link and bought 2 (Space exploration and Botany) and wanted All of them. :)
@@Abi.Cadaver lol they are soooo good, they really hit the spot for science nerds :)
Very cool!
Im really liking the covers, I don’t need more notebooks but i may need to collect a few hahaha
Thank you for sharing this video!!I am searching for the yellow pocket size allover the net,it's so stunning ! I decided to buy it 😜wish we all have a great journey with bullet journal
I hope you like it as much as i do :)
Her pen makes me nervous. Leave your journal in the car and all your writing disappears. 😬
I never thought of that lol but in the UK im not sure it gets warm enough for that to happen lol
Con you provide the link to buy the double pen holder? please
No problem I got it on Etsy - www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1547174142/personalized-leather-pen-pencil-holder
I splurged on the goat leather cover. It is exquisite. A daily dose of beauty. Enjoyed your video and have subscribed.
Thank you, did you get the Midori cover or another make?
Qué hermosas ❤ Me encanta tu simpleza ❤
Thank you so much :)
I’m currently using the new A.E. I love the cover and it’s been great as my bujo, too. I hope that your wife likes it.
Well she as very excited to be given it to play with so im hoping so too :)
Ooh this came across my feed today. My husband and I are looking at getting him a new desk and bookshelves. We talked about planning a trip next month to ikea. I love your setup. I hope it is an inviting experience for you to write ✍🏼
At the moment its a little messy and unusable but im working through the mess :)
Let the wife keep it. I’m using the yellow bujo
The Yellow is very nice :)
I find myself not misplacing it at work as often! Satisfied customer!
Its beautiful cant wait to start using it 😊
Hello Tiny Phone Wife hahahah
I vote for your wife having it.
Hahaha i think ill need too now Ive hinted it
Yay thank you 😊
The wife should have it. Don't get caught up the unnecessary urge to get more and more BJ that you can use.
I have the same problem when I get busy: at office my day usually gets full of quick side non priority tasks, besides of my main projects. My solution has been something similar: my TN has a month/week insert where I keep my main projects deadlines and the important things I have to keep an eye on, as well as another insert for notes, but for those quick reminders I now carry a Maruman A7 notepad at all times when I am at work, so I don’t forget them. I had been eyeing the Ugmonk System for a while but the cost with shipping to my country is a bit expensive and tbh my current setup has been working well for me.
They truly are very good products, but i think if a budget is an issue you could allow do it with Index cards. Im lazy though so having the printed helps me out lol
Great review. It is really beautiful. I hope they do more Artists Editions.
Yeah its stunning Ive gained extra husband points letting my wife have it lol
I received mine a few days ago. It’s my first tn. I absolutely love it.
Awesome im glad you are enjoying it :)
I really like this system. I’m going to start with basic homemade cards (ADHD means I start and stop way too many project/ideas) but if it works I’d absolutely buy the product because of how aesthetically pleasing it is!
They would work brilliantly t lyrics as Project cards I might try this cos im always starting new ideas lol
It’s an interesting system for sure 👍
Yeah its great for days when im feeling too busy helps to breach it down to the really important stuff
I’ve just ordered some grid inserts. They’re great to write on, and can either be used for creating planners or doing drawings which would probably suit your work needs. I’ve been looking at the diary menu insert too. They have a week to view diary on the left, the grid paper on the right which again could be used for notes about a job or a job sketch.
Yeah I’ve used the diary incert too its very useful full i found it either never got used or there was not enough space lol and ended up adding notes to a separate book
After seeing an earlier video of yours (think it was yours ) I put the plastic wallet inside the cardboard folder and put them on the last string at the back. Now the pen clip slips onto one side of the cardboard folder and holds securely, leaving the pen within the edges of the notebook and no marks on the leather notebook 😀
That sounds like a cool Idea :)
I’ve just got this September Travellers notebook and I absolutely love it. Looking at more expensive ones on Amazon it’s really a great choice. If you total up the cost of accessories that come with it, it’s exceptional value. Also watching how you’ve put the plastic wallet in the back inside the cardboard sleeve has solved my thoughts on how to use those 😀 Great video and I hope you do another as this notebook ages 😀
Im so glad my video helped :) Ive got a few months on it now but i have been rotating into some others for testing :)
@@manvstationery I put the pen clip onto the last cardboard sleeve at the back, goes on easily and stays firn. The pen stays within the notebook edges, and the bonus is no marks from it on the leather. It’s also clipping the sleeve closed at the top of it stopping my small ruler and post-it notes coming out 😀
Thanks for this video I can confirm that they fit in mens jeans pockets ,front and back. Back pocket is my preferred so the thinner 46 page A6 is ideal. Field notes do not open up as nicely so even though the bullet journal is more expensive I think it's worth for the ease of writing. PS I have pocket softcover leuchttrum a6 and at 123 pages its bulky
Thank you this mirrors my thoughts too :) im quite enjoying the use of them :)
Thank you for this video. I would be interested in printing your inserts.... I did search the Midori site but couldn't find the A4 pad of paper to use.
Thank you Im going to make some tweaks to the design this weekend and possibly put it out for a down load :) this is the pad i got on amazon - amzn.to/4eCWbdS
I use it when I really need to focus. Probably 2 or 3 days per week. In addition to Reminders and planner. Just a nice level of constraints.
Yeah I think it can be super useful to have it as a must do today list that's always in view. It's easy to hide from stuff in a notebook book lol
My initial thoughts on the system was, that it is interesting and could be functional BUT you won't catch me buying the product though...
I think the streamlined way o doing it is great but could also be done manually with a Index card i guess. But hey a journal can be on a folded bit of paper but i use a Travellers notebook cos it feels and look nice :)
Have you tried using official Traveler's Notebook inserts in the larger September Leather notebook? I'm curious if they would fit in it well.
@@tylerbailey85 I have indeed and they fit perfect. I use the weekly plus memo at the moment plus a couple other inserts.
I have it whit a fine nib and is my every day fpen, i really like it
Awesome Im regaining my love for the medium :)
The Lamy 2000 is a grail pen for me, although I would have purchased it with a Fiine nib.
Ive been using it daily again and i feel its still a wonderful pen and the sweet spot i find is more user error. The hooded nib makes it hard to see if the pen rotates in use but once you realise its brilliant :) if you like fine for as fine as you can :)
I find that every fountain pen has a sweet spot - the issue with the Lamy 2000 is that it’s not easy to tell if the nib is centered on the page because most of the nib is obscured by the section. I’ve had my oldest Lamy 2000 for thirteen years, and since I got that first one, I’ve purchased three more in different nib sizes. I’ve tried lots of other pens in that time as well, and there’s just something about the ease of disassembly and utilitarian look of the 2000 that keeps me hooked.
@@TheMagicalSock thanks since using the pen more I'm in agreement it's more user error than the pen. Like you say it's hard to tell if the nib is straight on the page due to the hooded nib 👍
I've had one in EF for about 6 years. It was consigned to a drawer for a few years after the initial buzz of ownership. It takes some getting used to for sure, but I do love it
@@GogglesTyresandTrainers Yeah im thinking the ‘Grail Pan buzz’ should be accounted for in the Hobby lol
I had the Lamy 2000 medium and found it wrote like a broad. If i put a dry fountain pen ink in it, it helped considerably.
@@Higgler16 cheers I'll give that a try too 👍
I have one with a matching pencil. They make a nice set. I was aware that German nibs tend to write with a thicker line, so I bought a fine, and it writes like a medium. It's good for note-taking because the semi-hooded nib means it doesn't dry out quickly when uncapped.
That's a great point every time I use it it's ready to go👍
If had it in my Amazon cart a few times but keep backing out of buying it. Thanks for the video!
@@SigogglinJack It’s a great pen but I think im jut a little on the fence if its worth the price when the Twisbi and Kaweco range is sooo good :)
I have it in broad. I've had it for around 10 years. It's a pen that gets some use but yeah, I fear I might lose it so I rarely take it out of the house. I fixed the sweet spot by running it through several figures of eight on several micromesh pads. Not something I would recommend doing if you are inexperienced. It's a pain to have a nibmeister tune it, if you don't have one in your city but worth it if you want to use the pen more often.
Im not sure of a nibmister in the UK so ill maybe get some micro mesh thank you. It would be better to use than not use because of the sweet spot :)
@@manvstationery The London pen show in October and Yorkshire Pen show in December are good places to start looking for a nibmeister.
@@IvanRomero-ho8wv oh I'll have to look at the Yorkshire Pen Show as it's my area 👍 thank you
I really enjoy your videos - there tends to be difference line width between East Asian, particularly Japanese nibs in comparison to European nibs. Asian writing lends itself to needing narrower nibs because the characters are more intricate (Japanese and Chinese) than Roman alphabet. This is most noticeable in medium sized nibs - European medium nibs are broader than their Asian counterparts.
Thanks Ive notice this too but the Lamy 2000 Medium is even thicker than the Safari medium too lol must be a grid choice on the 2000, Used it to journal after the video and remembered how much i like it once i get the Thickness out my head and the expense if i loose it hahaha
I went down the fountain-pen-friendly-printer-paper-rabbit-hole not too long ago as well. And the best fountain pen friendly printer paper that I’ve found is from Kokuyo (Kokuyo A4 KB Paper). It is a thin paper (64gsm) from Japan, but just like Tomoe River it ghosts but has no bleed-through with fountain pens. Kokuyo also makes other paper products with fountain pen friendly paper. Clairfontaine is good as well, though I would opt for 90gsm (with the Clairefontaine DCP variant) since 80gsm did have some bleed-through for me. Both of these work well in my Brothers BW laser printer but I prefer the Japanese paper since it is thinner but still handles fountain pen ink very well. Just found and subscribed to your channel btw. Really liking it so far so keep doing what you’re doing 😊.
Thank you so much for the in-depth info, this will save me sooooo mush time trying paper that does not work 👍 thanks for the subscription too I'll try keep up my random stationery ramblings 😂👍
Great video! I bought my first Bullet Journal at PlannerCon Europe 2019. I haven't even used it yet. Leuchtturm paper is 1 of my favorite paper choices. You have a great collection. TFS
@@Jenscraftsandjournals thank you very much. It's good to look back on them and see how when I thought I was unorganised I was actually doing very well 😂
@@manvstationery 😅 it looks very put together. Very nice😁
I journal, but I’ve never used a Bullet Journal
Journaling and bullet journaling are both great ways to clear the mind. I tend to like bullet journal as I can have a Todo list along with my daily thought.
I see what you did there with that clicky fountain pen! 🤩 Matchy-matchy!
Haha yeah I thought I'd sneak that one in 😂👍
