I'm with you on marathons Craig. You feel obligated to have to run for the whole distance and as a result, feel generally rubbish most of the way through. I feel far more comfortable in a very hilly 50 miler, than I ever have done during a flat 26.2.
Good to see you getting back it mate!! Sounds strange but starting at 0 is wicked as its so rewarding as you get fitter, both physically and mentally as long as you are enjoying it. Saw you pulled a muscle so work in gradual and you'll be back to it! Those distances man 😅 Ill stick to my 5 & 10Ks
Hated the 2 marathons I’ve done but enjoyed the 100kms. 100 miler is on the list but need to focus for that beast!
Great to see you back Craig! Marathons would be my top tier, if only because of the sense of accomplishment after (and the last one was a LONG time ago)
I've only done 4 of those distances in races. I think I'd go with 50k and half marathon in the top tier, closely followed by 5k and 10k. 👍🏃♂️
I love parkruns, have surprised myself at some 10ks as I think the support at them pushes you along. I really like the local 5milers I have taken part in. have my 3rd hm next year so hopefully better myself. having discovered running rather late I just love events ✌🏼🌱
Do you agree or disagree with my rankings? Let me know in the comments! 🙏
how was the crowd on the 2nd lap? I hear it gets a bit sparse...
It was fine. Just had to weave in and out of people but nothing crazy 👍
Amazing news! All the best!!
Thanks so much for the kind words ! It means a lot
What time does the race start please?
@@bobsocks7575 Hiya, from memory there are different start times as it's done it waves due to the size of the event. You will be emailed your start time
Good to see you back Craig, take it easy, there’s no need to stress yourself about producing content, just do what you can, when you can and what suits you and your lifestyle.
@@peterrichmond6133 Thanks for the kind words mate, really appreciated. Yes definitely no need to stress, will just be keeping it to when I'm in the zone and up for it..thanks!
I’m 64K steps into my challenge right now. I’ve watched about 10 different people on YT who posted about their experience. You’re the first person I actually believe finished the challenge. Great work brother, this was actually very motivating and helpful.
Hope your challenge went well!!!! It's certainly a tough one, I wouldn't do it again through choice 😂
@ I actually ended up tearing a ligament in my foot around the 70K mark, but I sucked it up and got it done! The thought of restarting was worse than the pain haha. I’m a better man for having done it, but you’re right… I won’t voluntarily do this one again
@@TheMummyCats Mate, fair play! I see your channel is a band page. Which one are you, haha? Was your challenge for charity or for 'fun'? Well done !
@ I’m the lead singer!! Thanks for checking it out! I did it for fun. Usually map out 5 or so big fitness goals each year and this was one of the last ones I needed to cross off!
:) This is the first video I've seen of you! I'm on the same journey, from running an ultra to starting from scratch. My break was multiple years long and it seems everything is against me running. I've never sick as often as this year. Then shinsplints. Then other stuff. It's so rough. After a good training block I just keep losing it. And start again. And lose it again. I'll follow your journey and will keep trying - and hope to not get sick that often :) Good luck to us!
Thanks for sharing and it's good to have others in the same boat who relate! Sorry to hear about your struggles but we will get there in the end 👍🙏🙏
Well done. Welcome back
Sorry to hear about your health issues but I’m glad you’re back and healthy again. Can’t wait to see this new journey you’re going to be on 🎉
Thanks brad, hope you're doing good mate and all well. Had a look at your most recent video, the hair is looking awesome 💯
Useful vid. Thanks.
Great to see you back Craig. Sounds like a solid plan for getting back to it especially the fun and no pressure 👍
Thanks Ben really appreciate that fella. Hope you've been well!
Good to see you back 😃👍 Looks like you have a sensible plan. Take things easy and enjoy 😊
Thanks Ben!! Appreciated
Great to see you back mate. Looking forward to the vids ❤️
Cheers mate really appreciate this ❤️❤️
Welcome back mate 👍
Thanks 👍 hope you're good!
Sorry to hear things haven't been good, Craig. But great to see you running and Vlogging again.
Thanks fella, really appreciate that. Hope things have been well for you two lately
Sounds like a really solid plan. I wish you all success.
Thank you!
Good to see you back, Craig 👍🙂 Solid plan for easing into it you've got there mate. Only thing I'd think about if it were me, is including a few back off weeks during the ramp up, so it's not just constant increases. I need that because I'm made of Weetabix and get injured otherwise 😅 All the best chap 💪🏃♂️
Hi Mark, thanks for the kind words mate. Definitely think you're right. I've already pulled my leg trying to get back into it so need to take some time to walk only now 😂
Your videos inspired me to start running ultras this year - glad to see you're back! Best of luck with your training, I look forward to seeing new videos.
Thanks for the kind words and I hope your running and ultras are both going well !!! 🙏
I took 9 years off, 8 months is nothing :D

Welcome back! I've been through a similar process and long hikes have been essential to my return to fitness!
Thanks for the suggestion, that's actually a really good shout. I'll definitely do some hikes for sure 🙏
Great to see you back Craig, and thanks for the honest updates. All the best fella 👍

I was only thinking about you a couple of weeks ago! Really sorry to hear about your struggles - mental health can be very difficult sometimes - but it’s brilliant to see you back. I love your videos Craig 😊
Cheers for the kind words Conrad. Really appreciate that and your support mate, hope you've been well yourself! 🙏

Good luck with getting back to it Craig. You can't keep a good man down and you'll be back to full fitness in no time. 👊

Welcome back ! Sorry for mentioning that but... how about your weight ? You'll have to get back to your previous mark, or your knees will go bankrupt. I think it would be interesting for us followers to see how (and how fast) you manage this key dimension.
Hello mate, yes I'm not proud of my current weight but at the end of the day I feel best to be honest. The mental health issues really affected lots in my life including my weight. Now I'm feeling better mentally I am sure it will shift very soon.

@runningcafe1 good to see you getting back to it gradually mate. I struggled with mental health terribly last year so know first hand, although I was the opposite and lost about 2 stone as I had no appetite for as long as the worst of it lasted. It all comes back though mate and getting back into routine with fitness will help profoundly, it did me, once I was ready to properly get back to it. Hopefully catch you at a park run again soon dude I often see your bro at them!
that sounds like a really good plan. Remember-nothing is stronger than what is inside. welcome back.
Thank you, absolutely !!
Glad to see you back and feeling better! I'll be keen to follow along as you get your fitness back. I need some inspiration for myself! :)
Thank you! Really appreciate that
Great to see you back! Love the honesty, will be supporting you on your journey back
Thanks very much!
Nice to see you back Craig, best of luck with the rebuild.
Thanks 👍
You look a little bit fatter
Yep, definitely gained weight which I'm not happy about. It will go soon
Hello everyone! As you've seen from the title and in the video itself, I've not been running 'properly' for about 8 months now. I've been experiencing a range of mental health related personal issues, and I couldn't focus properly on running during that time. I've lost a lot of fitness, gained weight, and during that time lost my spark for running. I'm not proud of any of these things, particularly the weight gain and my current appearance, but it is what it is. I was debating whether or not to make or post a video, but I feel it's better to show the lows as well as the highs to 'keep it real.' Now I feel like I'm in a position to start running again. Thanks to everyone who messaged me during that time to see if I was alright, it's really appreciated. Here's to hopefully getting back to business from now on. Happy running everyone!
If you're calling the first bit of the nower a "big ascent", you're in trouble!!😁
This was before I did any proper mountain ultras so, relative to me at the time, it felt big
