Ancient korea has nothing to do with Taekwondo. It started as korea modifying Shotokan karate after some learned it during the Japanese occupation of world war 2. What ever ancient martial art was practiced in the past is lost in the sands of time. Especially after Japan tried to assimilate Korean to Japanese culture.

Amazing how Japanese influence is left out, especially the names of the founders of the original kwans, ignoring the fact that some of these Korean founders were ranking black belts in either Shotokan, Shudokan or Shito-Ryu. Teaching that TKD is 2000 years old are play out lies. Using true history and attaching it to TKD only confirms that Koreans would rather keep karate out of the mix. Stop using the honor code of the Hwarang (not Hwa rang Do) to build a foundation that actually started in China. -From a true TKD Student.

How much if this is your own words and how much is pure reading of other peoples works? I recognised several texts that you are reading out loud wholesale without any credits given. You also include a false myth of the gradually more dirty belt (we can trace the grading system to the ranking of Go players and the white and black belts to swimming competitions in Japan. Both made its way to martial arts through Kano founder of Judo. This is history that are backed up by real sources, while the gradually more dirty myth is simply that; a myth. As for where the taekwondo forms came from I can give you dates and names. We know that the palgwae forms, the original Koryo and the rest of the black belt forms were made by a committee of people in 1965-1967. The same committee with the addition of representatives from Ji Do Kwan and Mu Duk Kwan developed the Taegeuk forms and a new Koryo Poomsae in the time period of 1967-1972. As for the Chang Hon forms (practised today in ITF) they were made by Choi Hong Hi and his top masters in the 1950s onward. 4 forms in 1959, 20 forms by 1965 and the rest were added in 1970s and 1980s. As for the roots of the forms again we know exactly where the Kwan founders learned from and that would be Shotokan Karate for most Taekwondo Kwan founders, Shito Ryu Karate for a few (primarily Ji Do Kwan) and a few Chinese forms (Ji Do Kwan and Mu Duk Kwan, Chang Mu Kwan). Pal Gwe means 8 Gwe by the way :-)

false propaganda,. some mural showing warriors doing similar moves as found in taekwondo doesn't mean taekwondo was practiced back then. There wasn't an art called taekwondo before 1950's and taekwondo was created out of karate.

As a practitioner of Taekkyon, I would like to point out that the master mentioned in the 1952 demonstration is not Song Deok-Gi (1893-1987) but Army General and one of Taekwondo’s founding father Choi Hong-Hi (1918-2002). Master Song Deok-Gi demonstrated his Taekkyon for Syngman Rhee’s birthday in 1958 and had no impact on the formation of Taekwondo, already set in motion. Regards.

There cannot be a single beginning. I do like that you mentioned Sumer being the one of the first civilization/ established cities and groups of people they had martial arts. Even the nomadic tribes before Sumer would have had fighting skills, weather they were established and organized, making them a martial art I cannot say. Most like to claim India and China as the origin of martial arts, and maybe they did develop them independently from other cultures, but without doubt Sumer, Mesopotamian and Egyptian cultures had martial arts independent of India and China. Once man began to explore the world the Indigenous Australian culture is oldest at about 50,000 BC, then Jiahu (China) at 7,000 BC, Sumerian at 6,500 BC then India at 4,500 BC. Followed by Mesopotamia at 3,500 BC, Indus Valley (Afghanistan/Pakistan and NW India) at 3,300 BC. Egyptian at 3,100 BC into Mayan (Central America) at 2,600 BC. Either they independently developed, or they dragged along the knowledge from culture to culture but each, once settled would have personalized their particular systems. No one culture developed martial arts, none can truly claim to be the origin of all martial arts on this planet.
