A step wise procedure to connect #AspenPlus with #Simulink It is very important if you have some models in MATLAB and some in Aspen Plus Most of the people got confused because the version is different: For the people with newer version of Aspen : please follow these steps: sites.google.com/view/aspen-simulink-connect-tut [non-chem engineering ] my personal website: www.sciencebehindstuff.com

Thank you so much from Brazil!
You are welcome!
how can we know efficiencies ???
Can you please be some detailed?
Good afternoon, how can I polymerize the process?
Thank you so much...
Dear friend. Heat Flux is also equal to the enthalpy change between point 1 and 2: Q = H1 - H2 or Q = m*(h1-h2). Thanks
Correct. Did I make any mistake ?
@@ParagPatilChemEngg You are really good teacher. Thank you
@@juanperdomo1 thank you very much.
Hi every one I am using EDR 12 to simulate a shell and tube evaporator in which Cuprofin tube ( Inner Grooved Tube) manufactured by Wielnad would be used, but I can not know how I can input the specific parameter of the tube into EDR. Is there anyone to guide me?
how can i download this app
This is a software called Aspen Plus, which is a windows-based one
А могут ли добавляться побочные реакции?
Большое спасибо
Tnx for ur contribution. Would you please tell me whether it's possible to link Aspen Plus with Python ? and share any resources if applicable?
I will see and will let you know.
Amazing sir.Tq.
thanks!
I have the same problem. If I change number of tubes, Aspen still shows 51. Unfortunatelly your video does not solve this problem.
I did not understand your question. What is 51 ? Can you please clarify your question little bit?
Thank you for the tutorial. When I want to connect the Aspen modeler block with my .dynf file I always get "AMSimulation Error: 263 A new document could not be created". Do anyone know how to deal with this issue? I use Aspen Plus V12.1 and Matlab R2022a
I had the same problem. Have resolved this?
i'm having the same problem. did you solved?
Great video.thanks for making us knowledgeable. Is there any software to design agitator
do you mean designing mixing tank with agitator for a particular capacity and so on? I was going through a website the other day, see if its helpful : visimix.com/application-example/application-training-examples/ PS : Its demo version is limited. But I have not used it yet. Just have seen some docs, suggesting designing mixers
Nice Explanation..Finally got someone knowledgeable with ASPEN video on you tube which is actually required in industry😀😀..
Glad you liked it
Nice video ~ thanks. Well there are HTRI program which design the heat exchanger. Aspen EDR and HTRI which is more reliable when we design the heat exchanger? Thank you~
I have not used HTRI. So, I cannot say about it.
good job
Thanks
Aspen calculates a corrected MTD. Is this the same as the LMTD (log mean temperature difference) or is this simply the mean temperature difference ( AMTD)
MTD is mean temperature difference. LMTD is one of the types of MTD. Please read a book by Shah and Sekulic to get it more clear ! Thanks
I cannot find AMSimulink anywhere. Should I install something new?
Sorry for late reply. I think you should see if Aspen is installed properly
When I get the flow driven file, I get this error message. "Only the CONVEN stream class is supported in dynamic simulations. The following flowsheet sections do not use the CONVEN stream class: GLOBAL FATAL ERROR: Translation halted. " What should I do?
can i connect hysys with simulink
Hello , I have not tried it recently (due to my laptop issue ( :) ) . However, I suggest you to please see the discussion : www.researchgate.net/post/How-to-interface-Aspen-HYSYS-v10-and-Matlab-for-creating-for-loop Thanks
Do one for plate heat exchanger plz
Hi, yes sure . I will do it in due course of time. .....It is on my Plate :)
Haii I have a question, when i select the pressure driven or pressure check option while switching to dynamic simulation, Aspen Plus crashes or does not respond.. What might be the issue. I checked with the process it was correct. But didn't find the solution for the issue.. Please help..
Sorry for late reply. But it must be due to bad-installation. You must reinstall it. Also, use genuine Aspen license. If you are using cracked, it most likely will fail. Thanks
thank you for your great work I am looking for simulation video or documents regarding Shell & Tube evaporator design with EDR, and what type of shell and tube heat exchanger correpinding to tema standard its appropiriate to use as evaporator
hello, sorry for late reply. Please see the manual by Aspen itself. Its good ! I could do it from there itself. Also, see Aspen tutorials (webinars), they are usually free.
Nice video professor. Thank you!
I'm not a professor. But welcome !
@@ParagPatilChemEngg If not a professor, even better ! As a continuation to this video, it will be nice to have another video explaining how to determine the Arhenius constants to input in the CSTR block. I will be happy to provide you with lnK Vs 1/T data from a software to help you with the video. Once again, great work !
Hi sir can you give me your what's up no.. I have one imp work with you I can't share here ..so pls ..share me your cell no. Or message me 9591092832.
Hi excuse me this is from some article?, could you send me the document ?, thanks natalievianey98@hotmail.com
This was exactly what I was looking for, really helpful, thanks from Mexico.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello sir, can you please explain me continuation of the process : Recovery of HCl and oxychlorination of ethylene to EDC: C2H4+2HCl+5O2= C2H4Cl2 +H2O what should I add to my simulation?
Hi, Unfortunately, I will not be able to help you in this regard. But the steps should be these : 1. Identify the process units ( may be you can find it within the reference. The reference is mentioned in the PDF attached) 2. Identify the operating conditions in each of these (Temperature / Pressures / Reaction kinetics etc). 3. Connect one by one and see if they are converging. Thanks
Hi I followed your video and saved the file from Aspen Plus to EDR but when I opened the file on EDR its showing a lot of errors and a lot of the information which I inputted on Aspen Plus is missing. I wondered if you can kindly help?
Hi, Sorry for the late reply. I think EDR file made within Aspen Plus will always throw errors. Can you do one thing? Can you start directly modelling your heat exchanger from Aspen EDR directly ? Without going into Aspen Plus?
@@ParagPatilChemEngg Hi, So what I did when I saw all the errors is I created a new file on Aspen EDR and did my HEX Design in there. To be fair Aspen EDR is fairly easy to use if you have the required information. Thanks anyway!
@@ParagPatilChemEngg It's just that when I opened the Aspen Plus file before there was no data that I had inputted, hence why it was showing all those errors. I guess that's fine if you just need the TEMA sheet, costing and other documents but if you need the EDR file itself as well then you are better off solely sticking to designing on Aspen EDR. I hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation!
The book what do you occupy to see the data what is it? I hope you can give me the name of the book please
Hi Angel Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, I do not remember the name right now. Also some part of the tutorial is made up. Please see the description of video for the link of tutorial. Yes, I have mentioned the reference in the PDF I have uploaded. Please see the description under the video. Thanks
sir, can you make a video on how to connect FORTRAN to aspen plus?

Hii can you please help me to connect Aspen EDR with Matlab, I have V12 of EDR. I need to connect EDR with optimization code in Matlab, can you please let me know if that would be possible. I would be greatly obliged..
It will be great to try to see optimum geometry to minimize energy consumption ( or many other things). But I am not sure if we can connect Aspen EDR and MATLAB. I think you will have to code heat exchanger on your own. (I have read such several articles : Optimization of HEX geometry ) , but unfortunately, when Aspen dynamics connects to MATLAB, the heat exchanger becomes shortcut-one ! I was reading a book ( did not complete) named 'Stochastic Process Optimization using Aspen Plus'. Please see if you get clue there. Thanks !

may i ask why the response is also in step? what if I want to know the real response (curved)?
its about time-constant. If time constant is small, then the response will look like step too... it is obvious !

Hello, very useful video, anyway I should connect Aspen Dynamic used on a remote desktop with Matlab on my PC. I tried to export the aspen model on my PC but it does not work. Any suggestion?
I think it is difficult. if , your PC does not have license. The other PC might have it. I think, the working directories should be same (But I am not sure if I can help in this)
