I used the Blu3 Nemo to get underwater. That thing rocks! I was also able to cut off a shackle that was jamming on the center board case. Good stuff!!!

Drysuit paddleboarding in early Feb in Upper Michigan 2024 (crazy warm weather for this season) I highly recommend an inflatable paddleboard with electric pump (Amazon, etc) They are crazy cheap and convenient ($100-300 range). They do not paddle as well as hard paddleboards, but the trade-offs are well worth it for the average family.
Solo Mesa XL with heat deflector - wood pellets

winter 2024, playing with a Mesa XL solo stove with heat deflector. I am burning wood pellets this burn. Having the heat without the smoke is pretty great. The use of the heat deflector is quite noticeable. Just using pellets is perfect for having a 30-50 minute fire. You can add more pellets and enjoy the fire longer, you just need to add rather slowly as to not snuff the fire out too much and...

I am not using oil on purpose, as IMHO it does not need it on such a small unit and it will keep it cleaner when stored. From my research, oil is used on chainsaws so that the chain does not get too hot. I am simply not worried about, but I will update here if I end up changing my mind. Overall - good buy. Pretty dangerous tool, so watch those fingys! Product: www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2ZHM6PZ?psc=1...

      Quite well! I just had it out for the first time this summer. Ran great. My biggest complaint is the rubber on the throttle and starter handle (garbage - I covered them), otherwise, pretty happy with it. I do not feel it is as high of quality as others, but the price is right.

    We have a Mesa XL on our RV for smoke "less" fires and some ambience at happy hour. We use hardwood pellets, which burn a bit cleaner and hotter than the much cheaper softwood pellets. Alcohol hand sanitizer gel makes a great pellet starter. I was contemplating adding the heat diffuser, but from your video I see it greatly expands the storage space requirements, which would be a no-go for our little RV. Presumably you could disassemble the diffuser, but that could be annoying and messy if it's coated with soot.

    Hey Mike,j ust got my Mesa XL with the heat deflector. I seem to have a decent amount of smoke with the deflector on it. None with it off. Did you have to burn yours in several times before it stopped smoking or did yours not smoke from the start?

    • @mikeford7870
      @mikeford7870 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What are you burning? I have only burned pellets so far. The instructions state that the flame should not be touching the bottom of the deflector, as it impacts performance. I have found this hard to achieve and the bottom gets a lot of soot on it as a result. However, I have not had any issue with smoke when burning pellets. I suspects burning sticks will contain more moisture and will smoke more. It does seem a bit odd that it would smoke more with the deflector on. With or without, both use a top ring that helps pull in preheated air, which helps burn the fuel entirely, eliminating smoke (in most cases, anyway)

I tried to follow the instruction of breaking in slowly at home, however, when 50% throttle was applied, all the water gushed out of the trash can. I ended up doing an hour of 25% throttle, then took it out to the lake to do the rest. But, it's brutal to run 50% throttle for 2 hours followed up by 80% throttle for 3 hours! You forgot the part number my friend, but with me it is the exact opposite. I upgraded my 4.0 engine on my Manco Thunderbird to a 212cc predator and I have the 60 tooth sprocket and just finished the stage one performance upgrade today, BUT my throttle will not return all the way. Why? They took out the return spring that you just pointed to so it won't return all the way. Result: I have two broken ribs as the throttle stuck and this is un-Godly power. It shot me off the back and beings the only brake I have is a foot brake I was in trouble. It was my 1st test and after starting it seemed ok, but once I opened it up it was like a fire breathing dragon. I am 71 and have 4 other mini's. This one is going up for sale or trade. The extra pull on the throttle is well worth it as this is a big safety issue. Especially on the older Manco's with a scrub brake. Whomever buys it I do have another brand new scrub pad that can be bolted on or welded and it will give double stopping power to the rear wheel, but with this kind of power you need hand controlled brakes. My email if anyone is interested: SnuffyLL96@gmail.com. I will also post it on Offerup.com and Letgo.com and San Antonio Craigs list.
