Mount Rainier is diverse for sure! The Paradise section is a beautiful alpine region with lakes, mountains and wildflower meadows. But the National Park is even more diverse from that - next week's video showcases yet another region on the park, which is much more forested, and beautiful in a totally different way!

@@Steve-ln2wj The route is Vancouver to Banff & is called “First Passage to the West”, on the Rocky Mountaineer website. You can also do Banff to Vancouver or sub Banff for Lake Louise & a stay at the luxurious Fairmont.

@ I’m not sure. I’ve never been to Canada then. I would imagine the snow will have melted but we were in Rainier (further south) in July & there was still snow. I went on the Rocky Mountaineer in late August if it helps & the weather was glorious. There’s probably no bad time to go. Even if you do get snow, I’m sure it’s still beautiful. Have fun!

If you are a solo traveller, you are at the mercy of the seating lords. You are not guaranteed a window seat and you will likely have someone sat next to you either in the window seat or aisle. I was lucky, in that the nice lady who booked me in gave me a window seat, and there were no other single travellers in my coach, so I sat alone. I made friends with people on the train so I wasn’t lonely. You’re not guaranteed a window seat, if you only paid for one seat. I think goldleaf is more popular, so I think you’re more likely to have an unknown companion next to you. In silverleaf you may not be seated next to someone but it’s kind of a lottery. As these routes become more popular, so does the demand for seats.

I’d heard of this monument because of the super bloom and thought “hey, it’d be so cool to see that!” Of course we turned up in august, in 36 degrees, & everything was dead. 😂 Thank you for the nice comment! ❤️

Oh amazing! Hope you have the best time! They allocate seats at check-in, which you will do at the hotel. My advice is to check in the night before (not the morning) & you’re more likely to get a window seat. I did ask at check in if I could have a window seat and they told me you get what you’re given (but they did give me a window seat & no one was sat next to me).

There’s also a coffee shop in the hotel if you’re just stopping by. I can also recommending stopping overnight in Ojai for some R&R!

This video was filmed the first week of September but Banff is meant to be beautiful from July-Late September.

This trip was taken in late August.

I travelled on the Rocky mountaineer late summer - at the end of August. Rocky mountaineer only run the Canadian service between May & October due to weather conditions. Glad you liked the video & thank you for the lovely comment! ❤️

@@thebarefootwanderlust My expectations are low, but I am looking forward to the trip. Trains in Europe are an excellent and efficient way to get to a destination. Amtrak in the US is the opposite. It’s more about the journey, and the Zephyr is supposed to be the most scenic route.

@@JP-vk9iq it’s definitely super scenic, especially in autumn! The train is well equipped too (decent toilets & showers including hot water), if you’re in a sleeper or a room. Coffee & meals included. (There’s a coffee machine by the rooms). I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Meals were basic but not horrible & people were really friendly. I never ate alone (despite travelling alone). I didn’t film meal times (respecting people’s privacy) but really nice camaraderie in the diner / observation car. Hope you have a great time!

Oh wow! I’m afraid I don’t know anything about the history of the Buckthorn but it’s got a great restaurant now! We were very happy with the food there!

There were so many of them, as the feeders were full of syrup!
