    • @KaiDragonmediahomelife
      @KaiDragonmediahomelife 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think it can be used in smaller doses since its burnt material. it needs other starters to really make it effective. I've seen some articles on how it can work but they have to take some extra steps.

    • @KaiDragonmediahomelife
      @KaiDragonmediahomelife 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you! I'll have to do a full tour of it with Anne for an update. Shade Cloth 30% is a must. I have not lost my blue berry plants, and the last 4 years I'd lose them to the heat. I've never seen so many black berries this year on my plants. I'm still experimenting if it holds true with cantalope and watermelon but I think it does.

    • @KaiDragonmediahomelife
      @KaiDragonmediahomelife 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You got a good area! Minus the risk of storms, you got a longer duration it will stay relatively warm! I think you can definitely grow longer than I can with things like tomatoes! I am not familiar with that Zone's last good day but I think you got atleast a month more than I do!

    • @AWalkinLA
      @AWalkinLA 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @KaiDragonmediahomelife Yes! Our first frost date is usually mid November! I'm actually just getting back into gardening and in June raised the sides of my beds higher. I had to use cheap dirt to fill them up and my pumpkin seeds that I planted at the beginning of the month just have not popped up. Usually pumpkins are such happy growers. I think it is the soil. I need to find some way to amend it as i don't have a compost pile. I'm also thinking about getting some of that shade cloth you have! It gets blistering here!

    • @KaiDragonmediahomelife
      @KaiDragonmediahomelife 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@AWalkinLA Yes! Shadecloth is vital 30% is all you need to really keep the heat off your plants. You can always amend your soil still with compost and some fertilizer if that helps. You definitely have an opportunity to have crops growing in your garden much longer. Definitely take advantage of it!

    I used to think that tomatoes needed to fully ripen on the vine to develop full flavor. I don't think that is true. I have read several university extension publications where test were done to check this "urban legend". The results, and my opinion (we've grown lots of tomatoes for lots of years) is that there is NO DIFFERENCE in flavor or sweetness if left to ripen fully. The tomato needs to have the color like the one you're showing in this video, and they will ripen fully on the kitchen counter. The reason is that at some point, the tomato quits obtaining nutrients from the plant at some point. It would be great if you can research this topic and make a video on your findings! Mahalo nui!

    • @KaiDragonmediahomelife
      @KaiDragonmediahomelife 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I only read a few things from some universities. I know the college where I went to school had a great agricultural department. Which I've used some of their information back during covid when I was learning to do alot of gardening. I've been finding we've been pulling them when they start to turn orange and more focus goes to the other part of the tomato plant once we pull them. You are absolutely correct that the tomatoes can ripen right in the kitchen. If you want to accelerate it, I remember the brown cardboard box or brown bags. However, I don't like them to ripen too fast if I have a surplus or if I'm waiting to schedule a day to do some canning. Hopefully this winter I can work on some of the research side and do some videos on it.

      You are welcome. It's something I've been wanting to get this one out. We riped them in a cardboard box, and darkness. We kept most of ours in the garage. Brought them in when it gets too hot. My grandma used to put them in brown paper bags to ripen them faster.
